Hungry Voodoo's Mines of Zolurket (Inactive)

Game Master voodoo chili

In 4121 AR, the desert dwarves of the Barrier Wall Mountains sealed the famed Tar-Urkatha mine abruptly, saying only that one of the richest platinum mines in history had played out. Nearly six centuries later, the truth rises from the darkness.

Sounds good to me, boss! Looking forward to it.

yeah, can't you still take a mutagen discovery to get a str boost? although might be better to focus on dex, ranged or something. maybe a level of evoker and chuck magic missiles all the way with wands or something?

I've learned to keep my casters solely out of reach the hard way though.

And I learned knowing when to stop raging is also key, lol! The Dervish Dancer feat works nicely with the Scimitar as it lets you use your Dex for both hit and damage.

I think the mutagen is the most fun part of being an alchemist. What happened to the idea of the alchemical arrows? That sounds fun. Maybe the Arcane Archer PrC if Voodoo would allow it? (Technically you have to know an arcane spell and I'm not sure if extracts qualify.)

Also Karrak will try to look out for people if they don't go running off. (Particularly if I am not trapped in a mushroom thicket.)

|| CMB +8 | CMD 18 | F +9 | R +3 | W +5 || HP 53/59 AC 21/10/21 || Paladin 5 || SR 10 Immune: Fear, Disease

For needing a 3 or better to avoid distraction I have failed a disturbing number of times.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Dervish Dance is a no go - it would be three feats away (and 5 levels), as Alchemists don't get scimitar proficiencies anyway.

I actually don't like the mutagen except when it's built around. In Chitleen's case he's got the cryptbreaker draught which is meant to make him team trap identifier... though I think between him and Tararr we walked into more traps than he actually found. A strength mutagen would still only take him to a Strength of 16 - or 1d8+3 damage... so hardly exceptional. Would also mean he'd have to stand to - and his low AC and HP would get chewed through quick smart.

Voodoo's right in that I need to make a bit of effort and stock up on alchemical devices; even if they do pants damage, entangles and such are still decent.

I really hamstrung myself by taking a 2nd level extract spot for another perception boost he's not used. Animal Aspect or something similar would give a boost.

Ahhh, suck.

Pants damage--is that a new damage type? :)

Minus 2 morale for all actions. ;) It is like an embarrassment debuff. I think focusing on the ranged combat and debuff stuff is the way to go. once Seamus links up close, mid and far should be covered that way.

Chitleen Shudra wrote:
Yes it's pity week and I'm whinging..

Curious how whinging is pronounced: win-jing or is the g silent. In 'Merican we just say whining which sounds just like why-ning.

Anyway- I'm cool with retraining if you want to adjust a character. Also, yeah get some alchemical assists. the list seems ever expanding in the splat books.

poison won't do anything for the deadites, but holy water might.

I can make holy water. 25gp (and 1 first level spell) per dose. Only does 2d4 to undead and evil outsiders, though.

Better than 1d6 and adjacent.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Now it gives me a decent pair of rolls... pah!

good grief. Chitleen is in no way melee ready. Even with the crit, you'd barely get past DR. ouch.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Ayup - if he ain't throwin bombs... he ain't much chop for damage at the moment.

Are fortunes finally changing? Let's stay tuned, super fans! Will our beleaguered heroes overcome the tiny terrors!?! Find out in next months installment of "Well A'int This Some Sh!t." Lol. Good rolls guys.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Dittoed from the other thread Voodoo - but have fun now :)

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Assuming no-one else wants it - Chitleen will happily claim the +2 Studded leather.

Merry christmas to you too Mr talking skull :P

VuDu:
Our cleric could benefit from taking up Tarrar's Urgosh,no?

BBB:
Even with dwarf weapon familiarity, it is still treated as a martial weapon which a cleric typically couldn't use. Also, he's not set up for two weapon fighting so he's better off with his chain-flail.

If we have any information on these creatures' abilities feel free to refresh my memory.

Karrak Ironhand wrote:

I think your knowledge roll sucked, but if it stinks like a ghast and paralyzes like a ghast, it's a ghast. why don't you go with that assumption. ; )

So I've got a friend who is going to restart his Skull and Shackles campaign with the second book (4th level I think), anyone interested?

As a related note, I will be starting a grad class in addition to teaching full time + job so I might have to delay or end this campaign depending on how much of a work load it is :(

It's a class with the American Meteorological Society, Karrak- I noticed that that's your gig : )

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

I'll skip on the Skulls and Shackles, but thanks for the offer.

Congrats on the grad class voodoo!.... I think?

Feel free to put the brakes on whenever you need to man, I've gone through weekus horribilus at work this last seven days so I understand if busy is busy.

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

Yep, going to the annual meeting next month. What kind of class specifically?

Thanks for running the campaign so far, it's been fun. Let me think about the S&S. I'll get back to you.

Karrak Ironhand wrote:

The official title is - Datastreme Earth's Climate System

It's for science teachers. I'm not totally sure what it is yet, but the orientation is end of the month so I'll know more then.

I believe it is time to bring in Seamus. Not sure what he's doing hanging around lost mines, but feel free to fill that in, BBB.

As for the hooked lance, I still like the pipe idea so call it a hollow pike. +1 hooked lance with a bit of a bowl worked into the hook. It can be used for imbibing pesh, tobacco or what-have-you or using alchemical substances. For example, alchemist's fire can be poured in and remains ignited causing the weapon to deal an additional 1d6 fire damage for 1d4+1 rounds. I also see it as originally a kobold weapon and used for alchemist coal without the sickened effect.

Sounds good to me! And the grad class sounds cool. I just finished my first week at my new job and am getting adjusted to not having to get up at 0430 for work, lol. Getting a new laptop broken in right now, but I will get busy with a Halfling in the basement, lol.

Cool weapon. I had an idea for a gnomish battle trombone (combo bard instrument and bashing weapon, swaps between reach and normal).

Now THAT is inspired! I suppose that's why you're the superstar : )

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

Hold up while I come up with a suitable farewell. Aren't there rules for funerals and other religious ceremonies somewhere? (like magical effects that you can grant for 24 hours)

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

I guess I was thinking of the Ceremony spell.

Karrak Ironhand wrote:

OK, that's a new one to me. How about Karak loses a 1st level spell the next day in exchange for everyone benefiting from an all day +2 sacred bonus against death effects, and I'll throw in level drain and negative energy damage with that.

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

Hey Voodoo, I am shutting down all my characters except this one. I, too, have returned to school and with my new job can no longer commit the time to my fantasy life, lol. I look forward to continuing our trek as long as it last.

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

If I can identify that Mason's ring I would wear it.

Mason’s Ring (CL 5)- stone fist on command,stoneshape 1/day (3500)

Spellcraft DC 20: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 15 Touch of Good, Guidance

Hmm, maybe Chitleen?

Karrak's song for Tararr:

In hollow halls far from his birth
He trod the ground beneath the earth
He had no fear of gnoll or bat
In battles dire he proved his worth.

His furious rage became his doom
There in the shadows' lingering gloom
He fell beneath the hidden snare
And in the deep they made his tomb.

His arm was strong, his blade was true
As many foes his axe did hew
His name will live in dwarven lore
Although his years became too few.

It may be time for a tactical retreat, friends.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

How? - Chitleen is slowed, which means he only moves at 30ft per round.

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

Can we get away?

If we can't, we have not planned well enough. A fighting retreat is needed from time to time.
