Hungry Voodoo's Mines of Zolurket (Inactive)

Game Master voodoo chili

In 4121 AR, the desert dwarves of the Barrier Wall Mountains sealed the famed Tar-Urkatha mine abruptly, saying only that one of the richest platinum mines in history had played out. Nearly six centuries later, the truth rises from the darkness.

I'm helping a friend move cross country and attending Paizocon this week. posting will be sparse.

Dwarf Cleric 2

Sorry guys, bad storm here had me without power for a few days. Getting caught up.

hi out there in computerland,
expect an update tomorrow night.

Sooo the good news is that you've made 3rd level and it's the final approach to Zolurket.

The bad news is that it looks like we may be down to 2 players. sigh. Surak has only been out a week so he may show up again. Who knows when Tararr will return?

I'm all about a combat game, but I'm getting married this weekend and then honeymoon for a couple of weeks. I'll be online when possible, and hopefully with the wedding all done with I'll have more time for playing again.

So if you're okay with ~3 more weeks of a tough schedule from me, I'm still interested. If I don't post within 12 hours or so, GMPC would be much appreciated.

Looks like he'll be back in another week or two... just failed to update this thread with the notice on his absence.

Yay for level three :) and boo for losing Tararr... I'm not sure where he's disappeared to, but he hasn't been active in any of his campaigns (I do remember a small mention of computer issues - and there's always the unexpected military stuff that could have swallowed him up).

Would be good to have a dwarf on deck for when we make the mine itself... plus this diversion with the Ouat clan ;)

Ah, OK sounds like we can expect Surak back hopefully in another week. I expect Tararr has been sequestered somewhere. It's happened before.

sooo likely we need a warrior type or two. Anyone got any ideas of good folks? should I ask around the campfire?

I was actually aiming more for a branch of desert dwarves than the Pahmet or sand dwarves from which the Ouat arise, but now that you mention it... The Pahmet are a bit too tied to the Pharoahs, but have the right attitude. The description from Dwarves of Golarion almost mskes me think the osiriani dwarves are supposed to be descended from outsiders. maybe Azer given the Pharoahs interest in genies and the elemental planes? or maybe ETs with all the Satrgate stuff as well?

I like the part I added about dwarves having a tough time of it in the Mwangi Expanse. I recall a possible Sky City there and it would help explain the lack of orcs in the south.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Yeah I think there was a sky city that crashed into the Mwangi somewhere, and dwarves would definitely not suffer the jungle very well.

Asking at the campfire would definitely be one way of getting someone, but I think most of the people there are pretty tapped out in terms of total number of games. Maybe someone from your S&S PbP Voodoo?

Welp, my computer just went down. that may slow my posting for a bit...

i'll leave Tararr's disappearance mysterious in case he returns at some point. Hopefully, Surak is back in the next week.

You'll be down two mules- Shirish's gear lost and some food supplies.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

So a net gain in terms of food then? - lost two mules... but no longer have to feed the dorf barbar :P

net gain :) so my recruiting attempts have been ineffective so far. maybe i'll give it the weekend and just reopen general recruitment.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Might be warranted unfortunately Voodoo.... fingers crossed for this time though.

Daeron, Chitleen- yo, did you see that you need to level up? maybe could have had animal handling...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Yeah - noted that the level up is required and will get 'er done soonish... but unfortunately Animal Handling isn't his style anyway :P

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Oye! Someone say undead? ;)

Checking in and thank you for the invite. Profile is basic there are still tweaks I like to make to the default Hero Lab output. It's all there I just need to pretty it up.

Welcome, Lockjaw! the red-haired stepchild returns. i'll cue the dramatic entrance once the others show up.

Ahem, this could come in useful :P

Welcome to one and all that is joining our somewhat troublesome expedition. I promise to try and not let you get killed... I'm improving... honest.

Hello, I was not expecting to be picked when clerics were asked for. Thank you for the opportunity. I just thought a monk sounded interesting. Let me know what you need me to finish up with.

I believe the cleric said he'd be on vacation this week so I'll just move us along this evening. pally looks good and heck Mankato, I just though an Oread sounded interesting...and useful underground. : )

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

Yes, I am hoping to be able to go with the Oread feats but have to see how I am surviving. Let me know what I need to do and if I need to alter anything.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Voodoo - how are you planning on getting the newbies into the story? - I'd prefer to head straight that direction so we can get back on track rather than accidentally choosing the wrong direction...

there's a wrong direction? this is total sandbox except for the preordained parts : ) i find your lack of faith in the GM disturbing... i'll get them there regardless of what you do.

I'll put the intro in this evening. Mankato and Lockjaw look fine. Wolfwaker said he was on vacation, but should hopefully be back after this weekend.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Never a lack of faith Voodoo... never :P

Just providing you with the option of a light hand of guidance.

|| CMB +8 | CMD 18 | F +9 | R +3 | W +5 || HP 53/59 AC 21/10/21 || Paladin 5 || SR 10 Immune: Fear, Disease

Woo hoo! Must remember not to be as crazy as Lockjaw used to be when he was a barbarian. But don't worry, that was a long time ago. In a different realm.

Daeron- you should level up to 3rd as well.

Chitleen Shudra wrote:

oooh, i should start a star wars campaign just so I can make a new GM alias... Darth VooDoo!

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

I am here (Wolfwaker). Thanks for the selection. Been driving most of the day so just checking in. Should I revise my skills to complement the others or just keep them as is (I think I chose the right number.)? I could use a bit of advice on gear since I am pretty new at Pathfinder (used to play RPGs 20 years ago) and have not really dealt with anything beyond 1st-2nd level yet.

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

I saw the dwarf and human get offered jobs. Just let me know when I need to do something.

Mankato- sorry if i wasn't clear. i'm assuming you're a shaitan/human cross. so that was you. you could take the offer.

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

Ok, thanks.

a'right. I made some assumptions to move things along. I thought maybe a Lockjaw and Mankato might already know each other since they were both a bit exotic and had ties stone and deep places.

I wanted to give all the new folks an introduction to their benefactors, Truther and Travis or at least Truther as the negotiator of the pair.

Mankato- give me some background about what you look like and what your history is so I have a better idea about what your character is like.

Karrak- lorekeeper is fine. as for gear- i dunno upgrading weapons is always a good idea.

also could you move Combat Stats to the top so I don't have to scroll for them . thanks.

OK moved that and cleaned everything up a bit. Working on the gear.

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

Been at a con this weekend. I will work on character description tonight or tomorrow and have it up by tomorrow evening at latest.

Dwarf Cleric 5 (HP 35 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 | CMD 17 | F +7 | R +5 | W +9 | Init +4* | Per +4* )

Can you confirm how the dorn-dergar works (or how you treat it)? Can I hit anybody 2 squares away or do I need room to swing it, e.g. a 10 foot clearance all around me? I like the idea of having a switchable reach/non-reach weapon but if it is only going to work in limited situations maybe that feat is better spent elsewhere.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Karrak - essentially you have to choose whether you are wielding it as a reach or non-reach weapon when you draw it - and are then held to the benefits / limitations of that style until you change it.

So if you wield it as a reach weapon, then you can hit targets two squares away but not adjacent. Similarly as a normal weapon you'd hit adjacent only.

You don't need to have clearance around you to swing it - as that aspect is hand-waved within the rules.

Should I work some of this into my background?

Karrak Ironhand wrote:

not really. you not being local is preferred. I was just trying to differentiate the desert dwarves from the typical dwarf stock of the northern continent.

I'm not really sure what a dorn-derger is supposed to be, but I'm imagining a hammer on a chain.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Dwarven Dorn-Dergar: This exotic weapon is a 10-foot-long, heavy metal chain weighted at the end by a round ball of solid iron about
the size of a large fist. By adjusting the slack of the chain, the weapon can be used either with or without reach. Changing between using
it as a normal weapon and a reach weapon is a move action. Though fallen into disuse over the spanning centuries, the dorn-dergar is
still sometimes employed by dwarves who cling to the old ways.
Dwarves treat dorn-dergars as martial weapons.

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

I put a description up. I did not put in a lot of story because I view Mankato as being one that was a loner and just working on his style of perfection so hasn't really do much living.

let's reset the watch and marching orders.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen would travel in the middle of the group and take the first watch.

|| CMB +8 | CMD 18 | F +9 | R +3 | W +5 || HP 53/59 AC 21/10/21 || Paladin 5 || SR 10 Immune: Fear, Disease

Lockjaw would move in the front if we've no tracker and take the middle watch as he's no spells and has darkvision.

Male Oread Monk HP 27 Init +1; Senses Darkvision; Perception +9 AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 15 Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +7

Mankato would be in the back and would take whatever watch no one was interested in.

A'right. take a look at the Campaign info page for the orders and let me know if that works.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

I find them most agreeable.
