Those who cannot heal themselves should take the potions so they don't die." says Sera meekly, all her usual excitement gone since the discovery of her two comrades dead.
Caelin Ferrier |
With the realisation that his dear old donkey would have to be sent away, Caelin sighs in resigned sadness. He spends a good ten minutes talking to the mule, ruffling his mane and scratching him behind the ears just where Brandy liked it. (For what it's worth, the donkey just continued to chew on a plant he'd found all through his affections.) It is with much lament that he selects only the "bare essentials", leaving behind an entourage of tools and gear... (His backpack is still pretty damn stuffed with all kinds of stuff, though.)
* Bedroll
* Belt pouch
* Grooming kit
* Waterproof hooded lantern
* Vial of ink
* Journal
* Oil (2)
* Scrivener's kit
* Shaving kit
* Spell component pouch
* Spellbook
* Survival kit
The wizard resists the urge to glug one of the potions down right away, rubbing at the sore spot in his belly (the pain had dulled somewhat overnight, but he still wasn't feeling too hot). "I will keep one tucked away, just in case," he says quietly, putting it in his pocket for safe keeping. The close shave with death had left Caelin rather shellshocked as well.
I was dropped to 2 hp yesterday, and with a night's rest I'll be at 3 hp... unless there's a healer in the army who patched me up? :P
GM Derek W |
Let's say you all are back to full HP.
The team makes its way through the wood, traveling quite fast. After a few hours, the groups winds its way through the foothills of the Great Central Range. As the sun begins to set, you ride through yet another narrow valley. At the end there is a low hill with a short, crumbling tower on it. The tower is about 30-40 feet around, and stands about 25' high. It looks to be at least a quarter of a mile away. near the base of the hill you see another figure, hard to make out at this distance. The figure turns and notices your party.
Seraphyna Bell |
Sera points out the figure that seems to have spotted them. ”Thinking about it, if we are trying to find something dangerous, we probably should have been riding merrily along illuminated by the setting sun. It does make us pretty easy to spot.” she remarks to open air, ”Yes, I agree, if we wanted to sneak around, no horses and stay off the path would definitely have been better options.” turning to address the actual group, she adds Well, looks like Griff’s sentries have spotted us, think we should try an alternate route? A straight up fight didn’t go so well the last time.” Sadly, she gives Quinn a few pats as the dog paws at her leg.
In my rewrite, I bought 2 dogs, to represent Sera taking Quinn and Flynn now that Tomm is out. Also, she now has handle animal to train them a bit.
Reeb |
Watching the figures in the distance, Arcasgil hunkers down to wait and see if they approach. He makes no threatening gestures, but crouches down with his sword sitting on one shoulder as he observes the travellers.
Griff would not be so reckless as to silhouette himself against the setting sun...so these must be other travellers...perhaps no less dangerous, but still should give them the benefit of the doubt.
Rizzo |
Damn, we've been spotted. Rizzo thinks. "You're right Sera, we shouldn't have a straight up fight at all." He looks around for Tess but doesn't see the sneaky elf. "Tess, I hope you're out there somewhere, but we're going to drop back a bit so we're not exposed. Keep watching the Fort and Keep safe and see what that sentry does. If they ride out in force, join us and we'll lead them on a merry chase. If not we'll try to use darkness to approach from a different direction."
Seraphyna Bell |
If things are happening the way I think they are happening, we may need some GM intervention...
"Ok!" response Sera simply as she slowly turns her horse and calls the pups to her side. "Which way do we want to go around?"
GM Derek W |
Corporal Bensen leans over to Rizzo and speaks softly:
"Say, did you notice that fellow's ears? They look like those of your friends. I've heard that Griff hates elves. Just hates 'em. I can't believe he'd have one working as a guard..."
And we've just added more detail to Griff's character! Careful, or I might have to make him a... *recurring villain*
Rizzo |
Rizzo squints and says as he pulls back from the ridgeline out of view of the Fort. "I do believe you're right. And if that's the case then Griff is a fool. Sera, do you or Tess think you could collect our potential ally under the cover of darkness. If Griff's band is all human I doubt any of them have any night vision that comes close to the three of you." Rizzo sounds slightly envious of the elves' superior senses.
