Gavie Firelight |
Oh good. That's the answer I wanted. Keep 'em off me! Gavie begins a slow, rumbling chant in a suddenly deep voice, and electricity begins to crackle around her hands.
Casting Call Lightning (1 round casting time).
Issac Quinn |
Issac jumps into action. He steps up to the injured man and unleashes a flurry of blows.

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sorry gang - have had flu all week and didn't realise I was off the beat. By my reckoning Sver took 59 damage on 3 attacks - less 9 from his DR? So 50 total taken... ouch!
Reeling from the onslaught of attacks, Sverrir growls and draws upon his inner reserves (Activate Godless Healing for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 healing)
The wounded dwur slams a fist into the burning foe...

Gavie Firelight |
I don't think my round for casting Call Lightning is up yet; they'll need to have a chance to try to interrupt if they're going to.

Fun fact: If you perform a disarm combat maneuver with empty hands, you can take the weapon out of an opponent's hand and use it for your own.

With a flourish, Gavie finishes her incantation; the halo of electricity around her hands suddenly begins snapping and writhing like a thing alive. With a flick of a finger, the electric beast charges for its prey, St. Elmo's fire dancing in its wake.

Completely indifferent on the maps front - my crap inter webs means I'm likely to take an age to access regardless of where they are situated...
Sverrir reels under the hacking attacks of the men (5ft Step), his toughness absorbing some of the vicious damage;

In desperation the stone cold sober dwur grabs for his opponents blade, attempting to disarm him: (cough)

Lucid doesn't need another spell, as between the current magic and attacks, the man falls. He too begins to lose definition in death. He and his companion appear to be be grey skinned, mostly featureless creatures Yes doppelgangers
There is the door back towards the exit and the double doors to the north. You have not seen anyone go through the double doors since you arrived.

Take a moment to arm and armor yourselves gentlemen. Lucid says to Markus and Sverrir. And if any of you can perform any healing I believe Sverrir could use it. he says addressing the others in the room. We have been tricked. I say we go find our gear and bring the fight to these skin changers!

Arm yourselves. While you do that, I've still got one trick up my sleeve - they didn't think to grab my boots. Gavie stomps a surprisingly heavy-soled boot on the ground, and illusionary plant roots wrap themselves over her feet and snake their way up her body. She blows a kiss to Sverrir, and a tongue of flame shoots from her hand, coming to rest over his heart.
His wounds begin to knit themselves together; as his wounds heal, they reappear on Gavie's skin, and she suddenly sags and moans in pain. But the roots from the ground beneath her feet begin to entwine themselves over the gashes, pulling their edges together and repairing the damage. After some time, she stands straight again. It's done with. I'm all right, and your friend should be too.
Life Link with Sverrir, Boots of the Earth activated. He heals to 70/73 in 8 rounds and I recover completely in 40 rounds (4 minutes).
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir stands somewhat dumbfounded at the effects of the healing magicks.
He flashes a hard smile to the colourful gnome;
"Mynn thanks... I'm a godless heathen, but whatever... wherever that power comes from I am grateful..."
The dwur turns his stolen longsword over examining the workmanship;
"Not mynn dwurvinn mattock but it'll do... Just need a dram and all is well..."
Sverrir points his blade tip toward where their former companion's body lies;
"We should take him with us nei? Give him back to his ancestors..."
Lucid* |
Lucid nods, shifts into the cell, lifts the elven body heavily over his shoulder and shifts back out. dropping the heavy load with as much grace as he can manage he says That would not have worked if he were alive. Its like his body is now only an object. His face is grim. Now lets go get the bastards responsible for his death.
Issac Quinn |
Issac says to his new companions, "I would suggest that we stow these grey bodies in one of cells. We may need to show someone as evidence that these people have been infiltrated. I do not think that everyone are these creatures, but we must caution ourselves, anyone can be a suspect."
Issac picks up a long sword and hands it over to Markus.
Issac's right fist comes to his left palm as though he is punching it. "No weapons for me except my out fists and feet. I too would like to get my items."
Gavie Firelight |
I'd like my stuff too. - it just doesn't feel right not to have all my supplies with me. And then I'd like to get outside as quick as we can. I...got separated from someone, and I'd like to meet back up with her. Gavie looks worriedly out of the tiny, closely-barred window. Come on. Let's try these doors up here. She begins walking toward the double doors to the north, then looks back at Sverrir. I'm sorry about your friend - can you carry him? I'm afraid I won't be able to help much in that regard.
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir nods solemnly and shoulders his former comrades corpse;
"Well raise a glass to ye longears!"
With his jaw set hard, the dwur marches toward whence they came.
GM Fanguar |
@Markus: SHe is still there. She is huddled up in one of the corners of her cell. She doesn't trust that you're really people. You can deal with her now, later, or never.
Pokng your head into the adjacent hallway, you see that a pile of gear has been tossed on a table. All your gear is there, plus a periapt of health, a bag of holding (type I) containing 850 gp worth of coin and finely embroidered cloak (200gp)
I'll find us a new divine caster
Lucid* |
Lucid passes out everyone else gear before he equips himself. Noting the extra items he casts Detect Magic and studies each. He is pleased to find the coin in the bag of holding. We can always use more coin. Now lets take the fight to these shifters.
Spellcraft Periapt: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

Who should we are this periapt? I may have the worst fort save, but I try to stay out of melee.
Issac Quinn |
Issac looks over his equipment and then places them on; bracers are placed on this, necklace around his neck and under his tunic. Last but not least he puts on his backpack. He has very little to get ready so he spends his time on guard duty while his new companions are getting prepared.
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir sets his fallen comrade down gently, then proceeds to gear up.
Once readied he takes out his flask, shooting a deep nip with a satisfied grimace;
"Sleep easy lad. I've got ye... I say wrap him in that fine cloak..."
GM Fanguar |
Going to assume that you aren't going to just leave this place without poking around.
After checking your back trail and not finding anything of note, you open up the double doors leading out of the jail cells We'll just say you escort the elf captive out. She tearfully thanks you for rescuing her, before darting out into the streets.
Much of the floor of the ruined chamber beyond has given way, revealing a large stagnant pool of water below. Rusted spears and broken swords break the surface of this pool throughout the room A framework of soggy timbers that might have once supported the floor still stands, stretching out across the void.
The far wall of the room appears to have once contained doors for accepting river cargo, but these have been boarded up. The room curves around to the right, out of your sight.
The boards are slippery, you can only move on them at half speed each move action required a DC12 acrobatics check. You are also considered flat-footed while on the planks unless you have 5 or more ranks of acrobatics.. Map updated.

"Step light freinn Lucid. I have your back..."

Aerin Aurora |
Aerin passed the half lying the end of a length of rope before he ventured out onto the slippery boards. The other end of the rope was given to the dwarf.

"So, now that we're in relative safety, someone want to fill me in on why I got tossed in jail with you folks? What's going on?"
GM Fanguar |
@Aerin: "Markus" tried to murder the innkeeper and the guards just rounded up everyone as suspects and witnesses.
Lucid inches out along the boards. Besides their slickness, they seem sound enough. You see that around to the right of the room, there is a door that leads into another part of the building.
