Sverrir spits and shrugs;
"Feh. God or monster. Let us meet it with steel, spell and spirit! Preferably a decent vintage har-har-har!"

I posted something before I left for the con but its not here. Hate it when that happens.
Lucid address the old lizard man. Ilthane is not known to me. Before we agree to do this you must tell us what you know of Ilthane.
GM Fanguar
No worries.
"Ilthane the black is a great drake. She has recently laid claim to this region of the swamp and has taken an unusual interest in our tribe. She whispers her poisonous words into the ear of the Chief and incites him to violence. She has chosen to favour us and has left one of her great eggs as a token of her blessing. A dragon can give none higher."
Senniki Raymes
"A black dragon! That is dire indeed. Ask what happens to the tribe when the dragon come back if we kill the chief and remove the egg. It seems to be that Ilthane would not react in kindness at that slight."
Sverrïr Koltǫnn
Sverrir's eyes go wide at the mention of a great wyrm;
"Ho-ho. Once drunk a potent brandy named Svart Dreki... reckon the hangover from this one will be a might nastier! Hah!"
GM Fanguar
"A black dragon! That is dire indeed. Ask what happens to the tribe when the dragon come back if we kill the chief and remove the egg. It seems to be that Ilthane would not react in kindness at that slight."
"That will be for the tribe to worry about. I'm sure that we will be able to deflect the dragon's fury."
GM Fanguar
Just to abbreviate the conversation: The lizardman would be willing to consider such a treaty, but doubts (correctly) that you have the authority to make such a truce for the Lord Mayor of Greyhawk. If any emissaries from the city were sent, they would be given safe passage in the swamp to negotiate. As I can't imagine we want to spend any more time politicking, let's just say everyone agrees to that. Sense motives indicate that he will honour his end of the agreement if you honour yours.
Agreement in place, you move to deal with the tribe's lieutenant and free the remaining captives before you deal with the Chief.
In the next room you find a pair of lizard folk. One appears unexceptional, but the other is a massive specimen wearing armour made of spider-carapace and which has an unwholesome black tinge to the scales around its mouth. A pair of bound and cowed soldier are stuffed in a corner with other kitchen supplies.

Sverrir accepts the potion with a grin;
"Never refuse a tincture har!"
The dwur warrior stows the gift and hefts his mattock with gusto.
"Right... let's find this chief and send him to the ancestors!"

Not wanting to spend more time in this fetid mound then you abosolutely have to, you press on to boss fight, I mean Chieftain's lair.
This large room has a raised throne-like area at the north end uilt out of wood and large animal bones; the grond in front of the throne is stained with old blood. A small pool of water to the west of the throne splashes with small fish.
Reclining on the throne is a strone-looking lizardfolk with a mottled pattern oblack scales and forward-sweeping horns. His mouth peels back in a viscous grin as you appear in his doorway, revealing sharp rows of teeth.
In halting common it says, "Shukak smells man-stink in home. We fight now. You die." Taking up a gleaming trident from beside his throne, he rises to his feet and lets out bellowing battle cry.

Sorry, nevermind. For whatever reason I missed that Senniki did like 50 damage. It's super dead.

The lizardman's grin of savage triumph quickly fades as you pierce its hide with blade and arrow. With a look of puzzled disbelief, it topples over dead. With the Chieftain and his lieutenant dead, all that remains to do is to remove the dragon egg from the lizardfolk's hatchery.

[bWell done friends. [/b] Lucid says as he casts Detect Magic and identifies the found loot. Two items are quite valuable. This trident is enchanted with Returning and these bracers are enchanted to protect the wearer like they were wearing Studded Leather armor. This last item is an Amulet of Natural Armor enchanted to the basic level. Does anyone want to use any of this gear?

Sverrir prods at the dead lizard brutes body with his boot. The dwur wears a look a disdain and disappointment.

"Nei. Friend Lucid... nothing for me there..."

I guess we are ready to move on?
One last task remains to you to fufill your end of the bargain to that lizardman shaman. Removal of the Dragon egg from the tribe's hatchery.
Heading down a short ramp, you find the hatchery pool. Foetid, shin-deep water fills this room. Dotted throughout a mud and reed nests that cradle Mottled green eggs. In the centre of the room, on a rough stone table, rests a glossy black egg the size of a small brandy cask.
Markus the Librarian
If it's a real egg, with an unborn dragon inside... Perhaps it merely ties Ilthane to this place. The environmental conditions are perfect for black dragons I'd wager. And when it hatches, so much... food.
Sver will get his chance to fight the wyrm after all, when she catches up to us.
Sverrïr Koltǫnn
Sverrir's ears perk up at the notion that the parent will come looking for the egg;
"Give it to me Friend Lucid. If it brings the Wyrm, then I shall introduce it to Stonesplitter! Har!!"
The dwur seems dead set on locking horns with the black drake.
