Just to clarify things:
Got nothing against no one, I don’t think your actions were silly.
It was all very much in character! I’m loving that. :D

"I've already made my choice, but do you think I should kill that devil?"
(...) then a dammed barbarian wanting to have a macho match against a devil, in a devil infested town (...)”
Roland has actually THOUGHT about that (…)
From an outside viewpoint, you said out loud about killing it. That is why I said macho match, instead of creeping behind it and coup'ing him to death. :D
Edit: I may sound defensive. That was not my intention.

Roland, just Roland |

Both those series are way past my time ^_^
Oh yes I did ask about it, and I hoped someone could change my mind about it. Anyway, Roland's coup de grace is not something one would really call stealthy ^_^

Gamemaster Zedth |

There's a bit of a lull in posting. I agree with Chez that the site's down-time for maintenance must have had an effect.
I am curious if any of you are unclear about the situation, or maybe were waiting for me to post something further. If you've just been busy today, then I apologize, I'm just used to you all posting more often. Based on the notion that you all gathered to discuss what you learned:
Right now Catcher and Roland are at the wagon, parked on the side of the road near the intersection. 80% of the goods the farmer sold you have been sold off. You're left with some cabbages and potatoes. Prices are at a premium right now, so Roland was able to make a full 5 gold pieces (in various coinage) from the veggies and half-pig.
Gromff, disguised as an old human man, is taking a look into the stinking pit down the road a couple hundred feet south of Mainstreet, on Torian Road. He has seen a pile of bodily remains, and a chained-up hell hound in this pit. Gromff is unable to make out any dwarf remains amongst the pile as a whole. (sorry for not responding to this earlier Gromff.)
Tessandriel and Chezarion have just discovered that Tylz' backpack is not where he stashed it in the stables, and are following tracks that lead in the direction that Gromff is standing, in hopes of learning more. One set of tracks goes farther south past the pit.

Tessandriel Siannodel |

Survival to track: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
"I think we should keep searching. We need that pack, and the sooner we find it the sooner we leave." she says while looking around for more of the trail.
"Keep a watch will you? These tracks get nearly obliterated at times."

Tessandriel Siannodel |

[dice=Survival to track]1d20+14
"I think we should keep searching. We need that pack, and the sooner we find it the sooner we leave." she says while looking around for more of the trail.

Dagnabit. I posted this in the wrong thread. Let me repost.

Tessandriel Siannodel |

Do you want us to go along with you to follow those tracks, Tess?
Or do you mean to go only with Chezarion?
I was under the impression that she was only with Chezarion. If she is with the group then you may come with if you like. I wasn't sure how close the rest of the party was.

Gromff Hammerhand |

I for one would be happy to finally see a group split up when the situation necessitates it. Too often people don't do it because of OOC reasons rather than IC reasons.

Call me paranoid, but offering to carry the girl was just to 'touch' her.
If there was any illusion involved, I would get a chance to interact with it.

![]() |

My guess at this point is that the girl is an extremely gifted sorcerer.
That would explain the magic’s without any verbal, somatic or material component, as she casting then without needing a spellbook. Also, from GM description, she seems to be an extremely charming and charismatic young girl.
Catcher wants to keep her so badly!

Roland, just Roland |

Catcher wants to keep her so badly!
If she wouldn't take 40 years to grow up Roland might even agree with that...
My guess is she is a fairy-touched or a sorcerer with the draconic (golden) bloodline.

![]() |

I don't believe she is an elf!
I think she just did to her, the same she did with the Walker.

Roland, just Roland |

Hey GM, would it be too much asking to improve that city map? I mean, showing the position of the other things we know of, including the pit, the sleeping devil, where the children are being kept and the guarded deposit?
It would help us to divise a plan and, if need arises, divide the group.

![]() |

GM, tell me how much we spent at the Inn, both times.
I'll deduct from Catcher gold.

![]() |

Man, I'm afraid of her.
Rulespeaking to get overwhelming auras, you need caster 21+.
She has two. :(

Gamemaster Zedth |

GM, tell me how much we spent at the Inn, both times.
I'll deduct from Catcher gold.
I suppose book-cost for any booze, and double cost for any food purchased. Depending on how many of you ate/drank.
Book price for a "common meal" is 3 sp, and a "Good meal" is 5 sp. In this town it is double price for food right now due to inflated costs.Subtract whatever you feel is appropriate.

Gromff Hammerhand |

So what would those two guards have done if I got to talk to them?

Gamemaster Zedth |

:) Depending on the banter, they would have either attacked or waited for you to depart.

Roland, just Roland |

Sorry for spoiling your fun, Gromff. Next time the player will try to be more careful, since waiting for you to start speaking with them and driving their attention would be more clever than moving to the place before you did. ^_^
For future reference, can I take 10 in a stealth like that?

Gamemaster Zedth |

I think it could be open to interpretation as to whether this line applies: "When your character is not in immediate danger"
One might argue that though you weren't in combat, you were "in danger" because of the close proximity to assumed enemies.
I think we can safely say that if you're not in combat or under immediate time constraints, it would be OK for you to take a 10 for stealth checks.
I reserve the right to change my mind though.... ! :-]

Gamemaster Zedth |

Roland, you're mostly right, but here is my audit:
Round 1:
Chez- swings on a guard
Roland- non-lethals a guard
Gromff- gets off wagon, concentrates on Detect Evil
Catcher- Grease
Tess- fires at a guard
Bad guys-
Imp-scorpion burns Gromff
Guard(s) FAILED TO ACT that round. (my bad...)
Round 2:
Chez- swings on a guard
Roland- leaps at the roof corner, hits devil
Catcher- force punch devil
Gromff- non-lethals at guard
Tess- arrow at devil
Bad guys-
Imp-scorpion- FAILED TO ACT,...jeez...
Guard crits on Roland
Outhouse guard throws spear at Tess
Round 3:
Catcher- burning disarm, begins drawing sword
Gromff- Obscuring mist
Roland- takes down a guard, goes unconscious
Chez- stabilized Roland
Tessandriel- NO ACTION
Bad guys-
Imp-scorpion- stinger at Chez
Outhouse guard- flees
Round 4:
Chez- swings on devil
Gromff- swing on devil
Tessandriel- fires arrow at fleeing guard
Catcher-draws sword, True Strike
Roland- chillin'
Bad guys have not yet acted in Round 4.
Results of Audit: My dumba$$ bad guys have twice chosen to not act (see round 1 and round 2).
Tessandriel did not take any action in Round 3.

Roland, just Roland |

Indeed I forgot to write that down Chez, although I knew you had done it so I didn't look for other action to write in that place.
I know several factors spoiled the regular proceeding of the combat (my actions too, understand I'm not criticizing), and if you want to try something else other than the regular counting maybe bluedove's way of handling it prove useful. It's something like this. Bold characters are supposed to act then, and the GM summarizes their action with a quick remind of what had they done in that turn.

Roland, just Roland |

Sorry, but Roland is NOT helping with the search, since he's taking care of the guard and trying to show him his options.
By the way, do you think Gilgain's things might be here?

Chezarion |

I don't doubt that there's all kinds of stuff in here we would really like to have. The problem is we don't have time to do a real search. However, we probably could fit the Breastplate in the slor skin bag so I'll grab that too. But unless Catcher detects something magical in there that's probably going to be it.
As I see it, the only way we're likely to be able to get the guard out is to smuggle him in the box. Otherwise there would be too many questions to answer if he just tried to walk out the gate with us.
Gilgain's stuff would only be in there if they found it, and the last Gilgain knew that was not the case. Besides, we have no idea what we would be looking for. Best bet is just to have Catcher do a sweep with Detect Magic and snag anything magic. Anything else is going to take too much time.

![]() |

Now You're really behaving like a woman Catcher...
That's the whole point. Catcher is a woman. :P

Roland, just Roland |

Oh, I just found a pretty realistic video on what a fight Roland vs Bearded devil would be.
You get to decide which one is Roland.

Gromff Hammerhand |

I'll take the book off my list, Catcher can add it to her own. So who will get the necklace, cause I posted before I saw Chez take it. The bag could also hold Roland's spare armor. Most of what is in there is light. Scale mail is 30 lbs and that leaves 20 lbs. Want to do that?

Gromff Hammerhand |

You ye durned fool. Guess you never read Goblins, Roland is a lot like Minmax.

![]() |

@Gromff
I'll update with the sword and the notebook in Catcher items.

Online comic. Writer has gone on a bit of a hiatus because of a panic attack so I am not sure when it will start up again but it is a good read.
