Chezarion strokes the necklace and whispers in a barely audible voice, "My Precious."
I laughed really loud because of this.
Chezarion |
As of right now the cart being sold off is a done deal. Regardless, it was likely only a question of time before we would have to abandon it anyway. We are still behind enemy lines as it were which means that moving off road is really our only viable option.
Gromff Hammerhand |
How do we do HP again? I think I might be a little off.
Roland, just Roland |
Maximum at first, rolling at further levels (but taking a minimum of average). Your roll should be somewhere closer to mine.
Gromff Hammerhand |
Sorry if we're making things difficult. I just figured with the high Sense Motive I would know something was very off. That and it come out of a devil's bag. Should have been weary of that to begin with.
Chezarion |
It was the sort of thing that had to be tried. Could be worse, we could have an ineffective healer as opposed to an ineffective scout. Tessandriel can cover the bases pretty well unless we have to deal with traps. In which case we are humped, because my current Perception skill modifier is only +1/+2 versus traps.
Gromff Hammerhand |
So it killed your wisdom in return or just a penalty to perception?
Gamemaster Zedth |
How do we do HP again? I think I might be a little off.
Your HP looks correct to me. You started with max (8), rolled a 7 at lvl 2, +2/lvl for Con (4), and I assume you have 2 more from the favored class bonus. 8+7+4+2=21
Chezarion, I'm sorry that you're not having fun. Cursed items do have a negative impact of course, but I didn't think this particular one was all that crippling. With the modifiers and flavor I thought it would be an excellent opportunity for some RP.
Gromff/everyone else, the necklace does the opposite of what Catcher identified to do: it gives a -4 to charisma/-6 vs the opposite sex. The worst part is that is gives the owner a profound vanity that distracts them severely. The owner is constantly looking at the necklace and him/herself, which in game terms gives a -6 to perception checks.
Gamemaster Zedth |
And no, this is not my idea of a "fun" role playing experience.
This line is just sticking in my craw, and I don't like it. I am not even sure what to make of it.
Chezarion |
It's quite simple. I don't like losing control of my character. Period. Granted that's just my personal foible, but it's one I think I'm entitled to. And if I can't even communicate that without "offending" somebody, then perhaps I need to find another game and let the GM play what used to be my character any way he sees fit.
Gamemaster Zedth |
There is no offense taken, but I am growing tired of the cheek.
If you don't want bad things to happen to you once in awhile, then I suggest you find a different game. As far as this game is concerned, please refrain from posting any further. Chezarion will be NPC'd from here on out.
Catcher |
I wasn’t going to say anything about this, but now things went a little bit overboard.
It's quite simple. I don't like losing control of my character. Period. Granted that's just my personal foible, but it's one I think I'm entitled to.
I quite don’t agree with it. You may have a personal foible against it, but it’s entirely part of the game losing control of your character. Those things happen, deal with it, move forward.
If we consider only because you don’t like it, the DM can’t use it in his game, it’s the same as saying that a monster is forbidden to use some mind control spell against your char. That’s just strange. And if I can't even communicate that without "offending" somebody
Well, you can! Just pay attention to what you write and how you write. Up to now, you never ever considered that, the person reading it on the other side may be offended to what you say. Learn from past mistakes, if this is happening more than once, you may stop to think what you are doing that is pissing other ppl.
Then perhaps I need to find another game and let the GM play what used to be my character any way he sees fit.
Now that’s is the part that bothers me most. If you are not happy with the game, you are free to drop from it (Please Chez, don’t drop, please don’t drop, Catcher may not say, but she likes you!), just don’t try to use it to force something out of the DM.
Those things are best resolved with talk, not threats.Edit:Sorry DM, I know I'm overstepping my bounds as player. I'll refrain from doing so in the future.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Catcher I appreciate your words, you said nothing wrong and did not overstep, but the point is moot. The cards have been played.
I've reopened the recruitment thread. Hopefully we'll get some bites in the coming days.
Roland, just Roland |
Holy gods! I go to bed and you all make a mess ^_^
Sorry, couldn't resist the joke. Well, it's an awkward situation, and I'm sorry if I contributed to it in any way. I'm still unsure of how we crossed that invisible line, since everything was going fine (at least in my head).
And if I can't even communicate that without "offending" somebody...
Just so you know, my in character reply was a way to realize something was really wrong with you, so I did not get offended by that. I'll advise you to take it easier next time, or enjoy going against the players in some ways. Roland, for instance, will certainly kill one of us if he gets "confused", so I'll be trying to avoid having that condition, but you never know. If that ever happens know you will be facing an enemy, and although I'll regret hurting any of your characters, it will be necessary, and I expect you shoot me merciless on that case (you can stabilize me after, of course ^_^).
For future reference, if you think you have offended me in any way, think again. It's very hard to spoil my peace of mind.
Sometimes I act like I dick without realizing it, although I've been trying to cut that off. Feel free to tell me when I do that XD
Gromff Hammerhand |
And no, this is not my idea of a "fun" role playing experience.
Actually that comment stuck with me too. That says to me you don't play Pathfinder or DnD often. I mean mind control is all over the place. Mind-controlling monsters, wizards, sorcerers, bards, cursed items all have ways of controlling your character to some degree. If you can't handle that why do you play when its such a large part of the game? You didn't complain earlier when the imp hit you with suggestion. Besides I am sure we would have found some way to break you out of the curse before we hit level 5. Either Walker or the girl could do it at some point if we asked.
Gromff Hammerhand |
Bah, but the elf's just being a baby, or an elf.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Ok folks I have edited an old map I found, and here is the link. I have also placed this link conveniently at the top of the campaign for easy viewing, for future reference.
I reserve the right to update it if I screwed up!! But I think it should be pretty solid. I hope it helps clarify images in your minds.
Catcher |
Boss, maybe opening a completely recruitment thread is better.
New applicants tend to get discouraged even to open the thread, because of the right posting count.
Edit: Also, loved the map. :)
Catcher |
Okay guys, it was nice playing with you all.
Maybe, we'll have more luck next time, or maybe the dragon will only enslave us.
Man, a dragon, that freaks me out! ;P
Roland, just Roland |
Also, could you please detail some about Sweetwaters and Archdale?
We need to know if the first is taken by devils, and also if there are any bridges on the lake between the two cities (aside from the main one on the road), of course...
Gamemaster Zedth |
Tess,
Feel free to comment on the submissions. I am happy to hear your input as players.
Roland,
We can assume that you all saw the Realm Map on a wall in the Honeypot Inn. It was a concise depiction of the lands you're in.
Archdale is a tiny town that built up around an ancient castle. This castle was build strategically to guard the pass into the mountains. The history of who built it and why is so ancient that its true origin remains a mystery.
This castle is mostly in ruins but it remains standing its ancient vigil overlooking the pass.
For the last century this pass has mostly been used by the armies of hell and their allies, but prior to the fall of Mylosis this castle was a "last stop" for west-bound travelers on their way to the great former city. As somewhat of a tourist attraction, and a natural resting point in people's journeys, a small town sprouted up to accommodate these travelers. I will add this to the "Places of Note" spoiler.
You don't know much about Sweetwaters except for that it is strategically placed at a crossroads, a river-joining, and is clearly inside hell-controlled territory. For the river to make it on the map, you can assume it is a large river, and therefore multiple bridges would be unlikely.

Okay boss, I promise to not use that kind of thinking inside the game, because Catcher don't know enough to think about those stuffs, I just want to talk with the others about it, but...
...thinking about this now, I think I got it all wrong.
What if Aerseni is nothing but something that the Walker created, when he lost his companion, the dwarf? If you believe Meldara version of the history, the Walker is strong enough to battle a great devil lord and survive. Also, single handed invading a fortress and single handed killing Ultruu's closest lieutenant, Zherzmourn.
Or worse!! The Walker is/was a priest of Desna. Desna is said to appear as an Elf woman.
Man, I’m so curious about this. Curse you DM, creating such intriguing things! :P
Gromff Hammerhand |
Do you remember the auras you picked out from them. That would be a clue.

Heck, I was thinking of having the Council of Wyrms make an appearance at your next campsite.

My computer went and broke itself!
Anyway , I'm trying to have it fixed today or tomorrow.

Yuck. Computers can be a bane and a blessing. Hope it works out for you soon.
By the way, I just got my hard copy of the Advanced Class Guide! It's pretty neat, I'm started to browse the pages now.

I hear you there. I have a career in the IT field. When my computer goes down I usually have an alternate machine available, usually just laying around. Case in point, I plan on buying some used laptops and for very little cash getting them up and running with a 64GB solid state drive. I should be able to get each one running for less than $100. Also, Ubuntu is free!
Heck, you don't even need a hard drive. Boot Ubuntu from the flash drive.

Anyone in the party want to volunteer for "leader"?
Its more of an out of character responsibility--just to keep things moving along.
Right now I was waiting for you all to tell me what you're doing. Are you pressing on into the night? Going to try to lodge with farmers? Make camp elsewhere?
The party "leader" would look over the last few comments and make a decision for the group about fairly insignificant things like making camp.
Roland, just Roland |
Gromff indeed sounds wise! Tess would also be a good leader but I think she haven't been so present these last days. Are you ok Tess?
But I'll take a liberty at this moment ^_^
Gamemaster Zedth |
I'm fine. The weekend is my time for errands and doing nothing. I'll get a post up soon.
Ahh, doing nothing, one of my favorite pass times!

This is what happens when talking with many people about not doing anything.

Ha, I figure! In here we have a comedian that says that men have several boxes inside their heads, but two are larger than the others. One is the sex box, and the largest is the "Nothing Box". What's in there? Well, nothing. It's where we spend most of our time ^_^
