@Veronica.
Yep, if we look that way, it's easier just to sell and enchant the new weapon.
@Aersensi:
So here is the deal with the elf girl:
We met her at the beginning of the game, it was our ‘first quest’. We were searching for Walker, and she was with the old man. She found us, instead of us finding her. She has an overwhelming transmutation aura on her, and can use spells without needing somatic, verbal or material component and can virtually cast or mimic any spell or so it seems.
“We” think she is a fallen angel, since we are fairly sure she is one of the harbingers (at least walker thinks she is) mentioned on the legend. The legend is something like this:
“The Harbingers are part of a well known religious legend about the end-times. What is not well known is that they are fallen angels who committed crimes against heaven and walk Atma as mortals. They are destined to save the world with their sacrifice. Their identities are yet unknown even to prophets and priests. Their final act is to die at an ancient temple to the Old Gods, where their spirit energy will empower a set of ancient magical keystones. These keystones are said unseal chamber which holds the mysteries of creation itself, and the key to victory.”
These ‘Keystones’ are the gems we’ve been gathering. We have two Gemstones (Yellow and Blue), and we have no idea where the last one is. We think we have already found this ‘temple of Old Gods’ mentioned on the legend.
===
On a side note, let me just clear something else as well:
Catcher brooding mood is because the closer we ‘get’ to solving this, closer get to ‘sacrificing’ the harbingers to save the world, and if the legend is to be believed that means killing the little elf girl.

RE: transferring enchantments
I see the logic that in the absence of this house rule, the natural course would be to sell/trade the weapon at 1/2 value, then use those funds to craft a new weapon (at 1/2 cost, which is a wash). With or without a house rule the act of obtaining the new weapon will require an investment of time.
Therefore for the sake of fun let's say that 'yes' enchantments can be swapped from one item to another as long as the "crafter" takes the normal allotted time (per the item creation rules) to transfer the enchantment from one item to another. This will require a successful spellcraft check just as with typical item creation.

Sure, thanks!
One more thing added to the list of things to do when we reach a city. :D
Veronica |
@Catcher
If that summary was for me, I appreciate it, but I know that out of character. It took me a while but I read through the old campaign up until the time that I joined. That was quite a ride, by the way.
Yeah, as you added IC, Veronica has no idea about any of this. Remember, she showed up basically going 'I heard there was an angel?' and then we were all like 'Hey look, I have that same ring!' and then we were sent off to find the spear. Veronica has basically just been following you all because she believes it to be divine providence and she doesn't have any better idea of what to do to stop the devils.
Gamemaster Zedth |
...It took me a while but I read through the old campaign up until the time that I joined. That was quite a ride, by the way.
Yes it has been quite a ride!
Veronica |
Oh, okay.
:(
Is that a frown because I already knew about the plot you explained or because Veronica is clueless?
If the former, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be dismissive! Just trying to differentiate between character and player knowledge.
If the latter, yeah, it has been interesting, though not the first time she's followed... blindly. (b'dum tish).
Catcher |
Nothing of sorts,
After you said, I remembered you had already read the campaign, and then I was like: Okay

*nudge nudge*
I'm loving the RP posts and I hope they continue. With that said I feel compelled to encourage more "game-moving" "forward momentum" posts from you guys as players. Sometimes I'm left with a series of player-posts that don't address my 'ooc' questions or don't push each other (or me as the storyteller) to keep the story flowing.
Don't take this too harshly; I'm not admonishing anyone. I guess I'm just hoping for a tad more energy. Lately I've found myself checking on the game 5-10 times a day looking for updates or posts that allow me to narrate further and it seems to be going a bit slow, but maybe I'm being overzealous.
-----
Side note - my two tabletop gaming groups are leaving me a bit frustrated right now. My main group of buddies continue to play their core-only PF game which is boring as hell to me. (I mean, how many times can you eat chicken and rice over and over again until you want some steak and potatoes? We've been playing 3.0-PF since 2000 and I'm tired of the vanilla game). That game was slated as a "temporary" game while another game was being planned, but it has turned out to be a 2+ year long game that just won't stop, so I'm left out in the cold on my 'main' game.
My 2nd group which consists of my wife and some work friends - our Dark Sun PF game just came to an end/pause because the story sort of wrapped up and I wanted the game to conclude on a good note. (ever notice how 95% of games end because of something stupid instead of the story actually wrapping up? Someone's schedule changes, someone gets in a fight with another player, etc etc) We are now painting minis so that we can play some Warhammer Age of Sigmar, but this leaves me out in the cold again regarding my red meat gaming needs!
I've been considering running a 2nd PbP game here but I don't want to overcommit and have this game suffer because I'm spread too thin. I probably won't run another game until this one comes to a finale.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Funny thing -
I just looked at the first page of this discussion thread and there was a character that I accepted into this game that never posted or ever responded after he was chosen for recruitment. I completely forgot about that!
What a different game we might have had. Oh well. I'm glad he never posted because this game has been so awesome with you people (and those who have come and gone).
Roland, just Roland |
Well, since I'm not having much time lately I'm trying to post something, but yes, I'm not pushing us forward in any moment, just going with the flow, so I guess I can be more of use regarding that. My numbers are starting to even out and the construction is in order, so I'll probably be more often at the boards, but not as I was before.
Regarding the game I think indeed we're doing great. We have 3 players from the initial selection and Veronica which was a great addition that has been participating in everything. After 4k+ posts on pbp that's not easy to come by. Noticing the detail about the first post I realize we were supposed to be six players, and ended up playing most of the campaign with only four. Perhaps we can add another player to give someone else the opportunity to have some fun and also to speed things up a bit?
But hey man, I don't think you're letting us down in this game at the pace we are right now. If you think you can handle another one, feel free to satisfy your dark passenger man! There was a time when I was in dozens of pbps at the same time, and it never seemed to be enough ^_^
Catcher |
Well,
It was a holiday here in Brazil, sorry for the delay.
About Pathfinder, I'm moving forward, I think. I'll start a tabletop game on September, 25 which is basically Sword and Sorcery using Runequest6 (Legend) system, in dark, gritty and low magic setting. PF has become too complicated for me on the past few years and I think I want some new fresh air after so much time playing the D20 system and its variations.
Veronica |
@Zedth Hey, you do what you need to! And if I/we can do anything to help, let me/us know!
Gamemaster Zedth |
I forgot to take note of it, but our game has passed the 2-year mark!
The first post was in July 2014, so we've come a long way! Thank you folks for being here and making my first GM/PbP experience awesome. It means a lot to me.

Spells for the day:
0th: Detect Magic, Dancing Lights, Prestidigitation, Mage Hand

2nd: 1/1 Scorching Ray, 2/2 Resist Energy,2/2 Darkvision.

For the record, my fire resistance will be at overpowering 2 points next level!
Also, I believe I have Endure elements against hot environments. Yes, I'm awesome, thank you very much.

Gromff Hammerhand |
We've never met the one called queen. Prince is apparently her son and he manipulated some surface dwellers to try and kill her but only wounded her. Prince wants us to finish the job.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Gromff is correct. The Prince is the dragon you just spoke with, and he referred to his mother as the Queen, who he wanted your help with killing.
Without looking through the game history I don't recall if Asariel the colossal green dragon ever referred to herself (or if any of her subjects referred to her) as "queen", but it wouldn't surprise me. So Roland, if that is what threw you off, I apologize.
Dragons are arrogant self-centered creatures with a healthy dose of hubris. There are many who would call themselves grand titles such as Queen.
Gamemaster Zedth |
"Is that even a dragon? I didn't see wings."
quick reminder -
A large clawed reptilian hand reached out from the lava and gouged into the black stone. It pulled itself up out of the pool a moment later, revealing the unmistakable form of a dragon, replete with corded muscle and powerful folded wings...
Gromff Hammerhand |
Oh, I saw serpentine and thought it was something else. Like a chinese dragon.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Oh, I saw serpentine and thought it was something else. Like a chinese dragon.
Actually that is a very accurate way to describe the Prince, though you would have to imagine a pair of wings as well.
Gromff Hammerhand |
So know the question is, is he a standard chromatic red dragon or something else? To me, none of the chromatics can be likened to chinese dragons with wings. They are too bulky. The chromatics are your standard western dragon. If it is something else, hopefully someone with the right knowledge can shed some light.
Roland, just Roland |
I was thinking of a lava dragon or something like that, but I understand better now. Something like this?
Regarding queens, I just associated them and wanted to put up the idea in case someone had other facts I don't remember to connect with. The queen could even be the third harbinger, as far as we know.
Gamemaster Zedth |
The dragon is a underworld imperial dragon. I picture them to look something like this or maybe this.
I suppose I could have (maybe should have) thrown a spoiler to help identify its type like I typically do. I suppose I was trying to let the descriptions and interactions speak for themselves.
Catcher |
That thing was huge you say?
....
...
..
.
Well, thanks god Roland didn't pick a fight with that.
Veronica |
Hey all, just a heads up.
I've run into some real family issues here as of late. My stepmother is on her deathbed and my nephew is moving in with me (as opposed to going homeless). I'm still planning on trying to keep up, but if I end up holding anything back, feel free to DMPC me as needed. And sorry if that becomes necessary.
Gamemaster Zedth |
No need to apologize. I'm sorry to hear about your stepmom. I hope for peace for your family.
Veronica |
@all, thanks everyone. It's... an interesting time. I appreciate the kind words.
Gamemaster Zedth |
"What is this fixation with crystals? On the briefly time since we got here, it’s crystal everywhere. Your guild: Crystallus, your key has a piece of crystal, look at this place, crystal everywhere, we even passed a tavern, the Crystal Spear.”
FYI Catcher,
The City's name is Crystallus, not his guild. His guild has sort of a generic name - the Sages Guild.Catcher |
Ah, I see. My bad then.
I thought the term Crystallus was the guild name, and ‘Sage's guild’ was the area which the guild devoted its efforts.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Catcher takes out the remaining of the pup and sap she collected so long ago, and the two doses of pellvine Poison Which I have no idea where I got it and what it does.
You guys found a magical plant at the bandit camp a few days south of Sweetwaters. It was the battle where you fought the hellskin ogre and the green forest drake. After the battle you guys harvested some magical sap and poison from the plant.
Your link shows what it does:
-decrease the cost of created magic item(s) by 750 gp
or
-decrease the cost of created magic item(s) by 1,250 gp if the item is related to poison or defense.
You have also harvested one dose of Spellvine Poison:
-Injury, Fort DC 17, 1/round for 6 rounds, 2 consecutive saves. Failed saves cause confusion.
I don't recall specifically but I thought you guys had used the magic sap to decrease the cost of an item or two that you crafted. Do any of you guys remember?
Catcher |
I used it, but not the entire pup.
There's still about 250gp worth of pup remaining.
The pup I knew the effect, but the Spellvine I didn't. When I wrote it down, the S was missing, and when I tried to search for 'pellvine poision' no results would show. :D
Gamemaster Zedth |
Hey gang,
Sorry for my absence. I should be back to normal now. I'm going to dinner with some family tonight but I'll either post afterwards (tonight) or tomorrow to get things moving again.
Part of my absence was a promotional opportunity that required a long application, an assessment test, and a stressful interview. Please wish me luck!
Gamemaster Zedth |
I promised you guys a post on the weekend to catch up - Things have been crazy so that didn't happen.
I *promise* I will get up a post tonight. I'm sorry for the long delay.
Gamemaster Zedth |
Part of my absence was a promotional opportunity that required a long application, an assessment test, and a stressful interview. Please wish me luck!
Well I didn't get the promotion. I'm eating some s~+!-sandwich right now and it doesn't taste good. Life's a b%@&$ sometimes, eh?
Roland, just Roland |
Just keep working hard man. You're a great GM, so I'm pretty sure you can handle most life demands. Keep doing your best and something better will show up.
Gamemaster Zedth |
I think something might have happened to Veronica. It’s been some time since she last posted on my other game as well, and usually she don’t disappear without prior notice.
Thank you for that info. I'll send him a PM and hope for the best.

New house rule -
Maximum HP are taken at every level.
Everyone please recalculate your HP based on this new rule.
Catcher |
@HP
wow, really?
That would put me at 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 9 + 27 = 111
Breakdown:
6 for wizard
10 for ranger/EK
5 for 5 levels of fav human bonus
9 for thoughness feat
27 for Con bonus
Gromff Hammerhand |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
That scares me. What is about to happen?
Catcher |
The Queen and Prince.
What's out there better to hunt than those two?
Gromff Hammerhand |
If I did my math right:
(d8 + 4 con + 1 Toughness) x 9 = 117 +6 Favored Class Bonuses = 123
9th level:
+1 ref
extra 3rd level spell
9th level feat
bonus combat feat
Sacred Weapon Lasts 9 rounds
Sacred Armor lasts 9 min
Haven't decided on the feats yet.
Kept track of the group loot as best I could:
5000 Gold Coins
10,000 Silver Coins = 1000 gp
250,000 Copper Coins = 2500gp
500 gp emerald
1000 gp diamond
500 gp ruby
2x 250 gp sapphires = 500gp
Chess set made of exquisite marble, worth 250 gp
Painting of Alladoza cityscape, worth 2,500 gp
+1 Halberd = 1005gp
+1 Longbow of Shock = 4037.5
Masterwork Longsword x 2 = 315
bearded devil glaives +1 = 1000
Illithid Short Sword +1, Keen, Life Stealing = 25,715
Spell Component Pouch
50gp
50pp = 500gp
200gp worth of semi-precious gems
2,000gp ruby
2,000gp sapphire
2,000gp emerald
2,000gp diamond
Total: 5000 + 1000 + 2500 + 500 + 1000 + 500 + 500 + 250 + 2500 + 1005 + 40375 + 315 + 1000 + 25715 + 50 + 500 + 200 + 2000 + 2000 + 2000 + 2000 = 90910
Notes:
Currently borrowing the the life-steal blade for Mjolvandr. WOuld rather not sell it. Without it we are down to 65195gp.
The Drow accepted 18 of the masterwork blades we got so down to 2.
I thought Roland had taken the Longbow of shock but maybe not.
Catcher |
@Gromff
I don’t mind you keeping the lifesteal dagger.
@Loot
I’ll keep the matching sword/longsword set if no one minds
@Loot2
We need to add some more to Gromff’s list:
- 2500 mithril coins
- 2 Mithril daggers
- 1 mithril scepter encrusted with diamonds and emeralds, worth 20,000 gp
- 1 "slab" of mithril weighing 50 pounds
I have no idea how much the coins and slab is worth tho.
