INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Rexandi dives into the darkness, her fiendish sight giving her shadowy vision, and stabs at the hostile cleric who's floundering around at the base of the stairs.

I sense the DM hinting that a 17 won't hit but a 19 will, and with the darkness he will have a harder time hitting me back. :)

He may, or may not, have an AC of 18... =P

Still a risk, of course, so I wouldn't want to make that decision for you.

G@& d#!mit Rexus.

Tarnagius loops around the recently-knifed zombie's legs and the unconscious redactor as he takes a spot next to Rexus and assumes a defensive posture only barely stabbing out at the mother zombie from behind his shield.

"Somebody get him on his feet again, I can't keep him alive forever!"

Rexandi rushes into the darkness to grab Raul's attention, but her stab pierces not him, but an illusionary double! The illusion fades to nothing, while Raul finishes his spell. A spiked mace manifests next to him, and he grins as he draws his two maces. Tarnagius meanwhile races to Rexus' aid and though defensive, he slashes right through the mother's head. He does take 1 fire damage though. Then he prepares himself to protect Rexus at almost any cost. Kethaera runs up and heals Rexus with her wand. Rexus thanks her and stands up, but Tarnagius eats an attack in his stead. Tarn takes 6 damage. The same fetid zombie attacks again, and Tarnagius eats another blow. Tarn takes 3 damage.

The father burning zombie aims not for Tarnagius, nor Rexus, but for the unconscious redactor at his feet. Does Tarnagius risk his neck for this helpless foe?

Avernathi Raul lashes out with full fury, and even with the darkness lands a blow on Rexandi with both his spiritual mace and his off-hand mace. Rexandi takes 15 damage.

I totally forgot about your question. The text mentions that the stairs are made of iron rather than stone, so I'm inclined to say that they're an open stairwell.

No Rexandi did not go down. She just got a big ouch.

Tarnagius makes the opportunity attack against the father burning zombie, and lands a solid blow, but the zombie has been eating the unconscious redactors and manages to heal through most of Tarnagius' damage. His second attack, even without defensive restraint, is lack luster this time.

Kethaera and Rexus team up and put down the fetid zombie in a single swoop. Bazzle slinks within the shadows and stalks around the staircase before his strikes into the calf of Raul. He cries out "Oh God!" in agony, and what smells like fear. A bout of laughter is heard from the other side of the room. Nox, leaning against the wall, laughs at the sound of Raul's cries. "You see Raul? That's what you get for being a mindless brown-nose. If you weren't such a pathetic tail-chaser I might have saved your life." She then looks Tarnagius in the eye. "Deal with him and his zombies. I'll wait." Her hellhound comes up the stairs and sits at his master's feet.

Tink indeed. Raul is beyond furious, especially after Nox's comments. He roars like a beast. Bazzle is too out of the way, so he makes do by taking out his wrath upon Rexandi. Though Rexandi frantically dodges the two actual maces, Raul's spiritual mace connects hard onto her head. Then, likely by command of Raul, the last zombie turns from Tarnagius and charges straight for Rexandi. Tarnagius swipes across the zombie's back, but it's not quite enough to put the undead down. It charges forwards to Rexandi and smacks her upside the head. Rexandi can't hold on. She passes out on the ground, and likely is bleeding internally. Rexandi takes 15 damage. This should put her to -2hp.

It would be considered difficult terrain, so no you wouldn't be able to step there. You would need something like Nimble Moves. You'd get cover if you step east, even with the open shelves. Also I've mentioned this before, Bazzle, but you cannot feint as a move action unless you have the appropriate feat.

I'll specifically tell you when Kethaera runs out of inspire courage. Assume it's always on.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Wait, I thought you said she didn't have reach on me any more?

Thankfully, Nox doesn't have the reach anymore to attack her.

I feel like I used everything I had in the very first encounter in the monastery, have nothing useful left (I can't even use my new glitterdust without blinding other party members because of our positions), and I can't understand the consequences of tactical choices that I make.

Tarnagius tactfully shifts position, but in so doing give Nox an easy time dodging his strike. She then attacks him in turn, grazing him with the edge of her glaive, yet damaging enough due to her near superhuman strength and training. Kethaera quickly taps Bazzle with one of the wands, then passes it swiftly to Rexandi. "Rexandi! Take this and keep em patched up okay? I'm circling around for Tarn." At that very moment, Kethaera's very delayed summoning spell bursts into bright light to reveal a celestial pony. It charges headlong towards Nox, but even with its smite, cannot have a hope of hurting her. Kethaera starts circling around while Rexus stabs at the hell hound once again. Vendalfek fires another burst of light at Nox, but once again she resists.

Everyone's turn.

This time around, Nox can't keep track of Tarnagius, Bazzle, and a pony. Bazzle stabs her twice in the back, but despite her wounds she's still fighting. Bazzle can sense a twitch of fear within her.

Tarnagius and Rexandi's turn.
