It might be best if someone tells me what to do - I don't have a map and don't really know what is going on.

Altai is fighting an invisible Ocean underwater. Gittik can see invisible. Maybe Pip or someone can give him a way of fighting underwater too? Otherwise leave it to Altai and the fiendish shark that Riese is summoning.

Oso is busy checking his gear for a means of swimming. "Elgan can you help dat Altai?"

Fighting underwater is a pain in the ass, so why doesn't Gittik just not do anything this turn?

"Meh, me do nothing, then."

5 feet closer Ocean moves to Altai; crits him once with her rapier.
(it would've been twice; then I realized he moved 5 feet....whew)

The viper tree is 80 feet away now.

A great booming charge, yelling; the sahuagins on the far shore are attacked.
You see tritons, and lizardmen.....and marines from Saltmarsh joining in the fray.
A triton in splendid mail on a four legged seahorse charges through, galloping, leaps into the water with a trident held like a lance, heading for the tree.

"Gaaah! Get off me, demon-fish-elf-lady!" Altai backs further onto land while casting a spell.

Backing 5' further onshore before firing off my last offensive spell - Magic missile. Damage 4+4+2+5=15.

Edit: I also have a Fireball. It is unsuited for this, though.

Do any of the attackers look familiar? Or are we seeing an attack taking place millennia ago that pitred similar forces to ours against the fish-devils? Altai's suddenly very uncertain...

She's getting injured real good now, but she's still at Altai with that rapier and a shark's dolleyes.

The tritons, however....you don't know them.

Stiggy cries as the rum elemental bursts into flame from two fireballs, two lightning guns, a call lightning, and some rune fire stuff.

Ocean has a
+1 mithril chain mail body suit (skintight)
+1 rapier, aquatic (i.e. it can be used underwater with no penalties as if freedom of movement was cast on the user. The user doesn't get the benefit of a freedom of movement spell, just the use of the rapier works that way).

and she's got about 5,000 g.p.

at this juncture, it's safe to level up and buy gear; next stop....Sasserine. I can describe it all out, and any and all conversations can proceed as normal, but that's where it'll all pick up.

That being said, you're all on the north beach of the grotto, and on the South Beach there's a gang fight going down...it's pretty one-sided at this point though.

Begins casting summon monster IV to produce a fiendish large shark.

Can we change that to 1d3=2 Small water Elementals(from the summon monster3 list)? Riese is a good guy and not too keen on sullying his rep with fiendish summons.

Just updated. I bought one extra 5th level spell, so I have 3. One question - I took the Beckon The Frozen feat from the Frostburn book. Is that OK?

retcon noted; they help the brave triton knight jack the viper tree...

Yeah; I gotta look it up (I have Frostburn woohoo!) but it's o.k.

The battle on the southern shore ends eventually, and the viper tree falls to tritons.
The knight sees 8 f&~@ing sahuagin (i.e. you guys) and when he's dispatched the 'tree,....."foul sea devils! Stand and deliver!!!!!"

In my Runelords game Vatters has a prestige class for his cleric - Templar or something - go to his page and look at his Alwyn Agnarsson alias.

It's the Ordained Champion from one of the divine sourcebooks. I have the book back in the US and forget the details, but you lose one or two caster levels and gain better better BAB and more smiting and general ass-kicking. Problem: you lose spontaneous healing.

Anyone know of any warrior/cleric prestige classes that are worth a look? I am away from home and splat-less until Thursday. If not I can go on Crystalkeep.

Ordained Champion is cool but you may not be close to the necessary Prereqs. ***edit- what Vatty said***

Have we worked out treasure shares - I don't think i've updated my character sheet since the fight with my dad, and only to add the +2 kukri.

I haven't really kept track, but from now on I think I should; it seems like three months of slogging through slowmotion battles aids in forgetfulness.

I'd still like the large wavy blade sword from the Grazzt Aspect, so maybe that could be part of Oso's treasure. I'll update Oso once I've found out about possible prestige classes, probably towards the end of the week. Thanks for letting me know about the Ordained Champ, its not one I remember reading.

I believe it's in Sandstorm. It's a pretty decent metamagic that raises the spell's slot by +1 for the ability. (Basically I am trying to extend the longevity of my 1st level Firebolts with arcane thesis, searing spell, and fiery spell feats to make a standard 5d6 fire into 5d6+5 that overcomes resistance and still do 1/2 damage to fire immune critters and also use it on certain other fire spells and raise up their slots) I like it because I can now have fireballs that are '11's. Most mages fireballs can go up to 10 max, but mine go to 11! 11 is higher than 10!

The only thing I want is the kukri. I'll sling my frosy scimitar back in the pot (effectively a +2) as a +3 item is seriously tasty.

I'll take care of it. A couple of the items are probably more interesting than the others - I think the enormous sword-club we too off the ogre mage is cool enough to keep as a party souvenir. Thoughts? Also, the elven chain suit would be pretty good for Beldan. Does anyone else fancy an armoured catsuit?

I guess we will be able to resupply in Sasserine; I suspect that the pirate settlement has been razed by our allies.

It goes like this - as the triton knight approaches, we dispel out disguises. Hopefully he stands down long enough for Tom or Will to recognise us and call him off; thus , the fighting down in the tunnels is essentially over.

"Ah, masters Stoutly - good to see you. What is happening up on the surface?"

The din of battle dies down.
Tom laughs.
"Friend tritons, those eight sahuagins are apparently our allies. Please don't kill them, or better yet, doom any amount of your cohort in trying to do so."
The triton knight nods; doffs his helm, dipping it in the water and dumping the stuff over his heated head and bluish hair.
"Well met," he speaks. "I am Lord Aurrym, and these are my Myrmidons. When a baby dolphin told us he'd recently escaped from sahuagin, we came at these scum with a righteous anger.
Your friends apparently decided it was time to join in the fray. We have no qualm with lizard folk or landsmen; and the more the merrier!
There were plenty to go around in these chambers."

Stoutly answers;
"Soon after you guys went up the temple, Sencho got a signal from his dogshead that the silver ships were nearing. He figured you guys were dead, and so took the ship....." he spits; curses. "the men went with him, but I hid....I was going to come up to you guys. I knew you weren't dead, but there were so many sahuagin about.....then the tritons and the fleet showed up, so I joined in the fun!"

"So... We control the pirate stronghold, but the actual pirates are off plundering the silver fleet? I think an ambush might be in order..."

Tom:
"I don't know if they're coming back; they said something about Scuttleport."

oh, and you guys still have the Sea Witch/renamed by Riese/ they just took the Hellwind.
