Lord Arthur Ockham |
Hey guys, sorry for no post yesterday. Paizo was down for me in key moments of the day, exactly the windows of time I usually use to make my post.
Lord Arthur Ockham |
Sorry guys, hectic day. I'm going to post in the evening
GM Granta |
The original plan was to run two campaigns of five players each, and I would like to give that another shot. To that end, I've invited three players to participate in the discussion here.
Melda was one of the original ten invites, and only missed out because she was the last to RSVP. Graywulfe and Blake's Tiger have earned invites by their play so far in The Confirmation. That leaves us with one spot to fill, and we'll discuss that once these three players join us.
Melda |
Hello.
Yes, I was and still am interested in the long campaign. I was originally more interested in the possible Core version, as I have played many of the listed scenarios on normal. In any case, I'm prepared to make this work, whatever adjustments it needs on my part.
I'm ready to take any role needed by the party, if it matters. Most of my characters are females with a bit exaggarated personality traits, just as a warning. If you want examples, check Kiti or Miriel, both have some nice interactions.
Alakhest |
Hello. Not sure what to say, just yet. I am planning to play my Oread Occultist(who may be multi-classing, still working out how he is going to play out), he is a Sword and Board Melee character who is also pretty smart and I am planning for him to be a backup healer as well.
I am new to PbP and a little nervous to be honest, but I am going to give it my best.
Iuni Al-Ahdal |
Welcome welcome. Interested to see how it all splits out.
GM Granta |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Personally, I find it easier to follow the narrative and keep track of the game with the mechanics in spoilers. Next combat, I'll add in another request, then at the end of the game I'll ask for feedback on the various things.
Basically, I'm using you (and the other 9 tables, too) as guinea pigs to see what works and doesn't.
D. Kembe |
Fair enough.
Sejiri: Its nice to see someone wielding a new weapon. I've never come across someone with a sling staff.
PS, Ello to the two new people!
Sejiri |
I enjoy the idea of the weapon, it's not very powerful but it is some nice halfling flavor as well as being versatile and having a good range. I'll be using it for at least the first few levels, if not beyond (I'm not quite sure yet), since I won't have all of the feats I need to be effective in melee. Not that you, as a human monk, would know what it's like to be feat-starved :)
Welcome to the gang, new guinea pigs!
Lord Arthur Ockham |
Hey all, I'm sorry for my silence in the last few days. They've been hectic. Crazy. But today I'm back at home and will resume posting as usual.
Alakhest |
Granta,
Do you want us new people to drop our character background in here, now or wait until we are separated into groups?
GM Granta |
Let's hold off on the character backgrounds for now. The first question is which campaign to make the second table. I would prefer core campaign (so that I get a GM chronicle), and Melda also wants core. Additionally, Alakhest has played a fair amount of the scenarios in regular campagin, so core might be a better option for him.
So, other than Melda, is there anybody else able and willing to play through the scenarios in core mode?
Alakhest |
Alakhest can not be Core as he is an Oread Occultist. I would have to bring in a different character. I do have a Core character made up in case it becomes necessary. I do want to get some XP under Alakhest to at least get him out of 1st level soon, in any event, but I could continue him in some other campaign.
Alakhest |
I would be 1 XP behind if I bring in a Core character, unless I can sneak in a Confirmation with him.
Raul the Hunter |
Same situation as Alakhest: I can make a Core character, but he'll be 1 XP behind. I don't have a problem with that. :)
Alakhest |
I have never played Core, so I can play all of them.
Alakhest |
I buy ALL the books, as a general rule why would I play without them...
That said because it simplifies my participation in this I am willing to play Core for this.
GM Aerondor |
Core actually is a lot of fun, less worrying about uber-character optimisation and more about playing a fun character. A little bit hard-mode as well, as you don't have all the special options available.
And for level 1, you can do a complete rebuild into a non core character if you want at the end of the game anyway, so it is a win-win.
Alakhest |
I never lug my books. I'm a digital man.... I have pdfs and I print out the necessary pages.
Alakhest |
For the other people in the Core, my Core character is an Elven Abjurer, if that helps with any decision making.
Iuni Al-Ahdal |
I've only played a few on Core and I think Iuni would port over pretty easily. So I'm game, unless someone else really wants to go for Core. I'm fine either way.
Iuni Al-Ahdal |
Oh yeah -- good point, guess that's kind of major...lol. Still willing if no one else does.
GM Granta |
Let's lock it down then: Iuni, Anastasia, Graywulfe, and Blake's Tiger at the core table, plus one player to be named later. How do the four of you feel about Eben al'Jol's Jakwin Howell?

OK by me
Lord Arthur Ockham |
I played with him. I was the GM. He's a wonderfully gifted PbP player, I strongly recommend him.
Raul the Hunter |
Not familiar with the player, but those are good references.
I can make a Druid port of Raul or something else entirely. Prefer Barbarian, Bard, Druid, and Paladin. Not a fan of Rogue or Sorcerer.
Anastasia Antasarë Iva |
Anastasia was my core character in the confirmation. She is actually at 2 XP now, but there's always the possibility of slow track.
All the suggestions in our group seem good, at least according to the quick peek I took at their posts.
I'm open to any character suggestions, graywulfe's character was also an elven wizard, and we possibly don't need two. The characters people posted on are quite support-heavy, so we might need someone using that support. Maybe switch-hitting ranger, or some kind of rogue.

Sorry for the absence but I'm back. It can be really hard to get on Paizo sometimes, especially when you need to do it before a weekend road trip to let people know!
