Erlandle and Raynard move towards the magic they detected and find a closed crate with some papers stacked near it. In the mean time the rest of you fight the fire with gusto and zeal eventually extiguishing all the flames in the warehouse! Incident over! Good job!
Siobhan Sable |
Siobhan douses the last embers with a final splash and looks around the rest of the smokey and singed group. She then points off into the crates where the original magic signature came from and shrugs, hoping Valtrya or someone else will understand that she wants to know what they found.
Valtyra Braga |
Valtyra waits for the crate to be opened before examining everything inside. Valtyra casts Detect Magic.

After inspecting the items and rifling through the papers you discover a Graycloack named "Parani," is behind the stolen relics and assaults. This Parani was a member of the anti-religious enforcers known as the Pure legion, out of Rahadoum.
Several letters from local collectors and aristocrats offering to purchase the keg were in plain sight on top of the footlocker. The footlocker contains Parani’s client list, the Scarab of the Dawnflower (which has been embedded into the footlocker), a Pure Legion uniform, and several official papers identifying Parani as a former member of the Pure Legion and detailing why she left Rahadoum. Also in the footlocker are a a suit of masterwork agile half-plate armor, and a golden statue of Iomedae. After Raynard's spellcraft check you determine the two magic vials in the chest were: potion of delay poison, a potion of cure light wounds. You quickly realize this is all the evidence you need to report and possibly capture this woman.
The quickest way back to the Grand Lodge, is cut directly through the God's Market. It's a relatively light day at the market and customers are space you move through the stalls and alleys relatively quickly then it happens...
Need perception checks (and initiative checks if you can) from everybody. Please refer to the map but don't move your pawn till initiative order is determined. I'll give everyone a till Tue. afternoon to check in then start boting no-shows in order to finish up this scenario.

As you make your way through the God's Market Sangkip, notices the flaps part on a tent across the way. He sees a woman's hands holding a bow pointed directly at Erlandle! Before the little primate can utter a warning an arrow flies at the Elven WarPriest! bow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 (Erlandle please lead off your next post with a Fort Sav. your first roll will count as the Fort Sav.) The arrow strikes the hapless elf leaving everyone except Sangkip wondering where the ambush came from! (note it's easy to spot where the arrow came (it's automatic success for all of you) from but it will take one action to use perception to locate the exact tent. Sangkip already knows where the arrow came from and can act in the surprise round with one action. If he uses his surprise round action to point and gesticulate, where the arrow came from. The whole group is automatically aware of where the ambush came from and may act normally in round one.)

Erlandle's str. dmg: 1d2 ⇒ 1(Erlandle you will need to attempt a fort save vs. poison at the beginning of every round;[DC:17] round 1 you failed to save and take 1 str. dmg.)
You can all clearly see your attacker now. She wears a grey cloak but has foreign features accenting her face, including a sharp nose, and wavy black locks. She might even be considered pretty if it weren't for the fact she seemed to be trying to kill some of you! Die religious nuts!...Hope you choke on the words of your false Gods in the afterlife! She then proceeds to fire another arrow at Erlandle bow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 The arrow strikes home and you can sense the woman's smirk of confidence as Erlandle falls to the ground, clutching at the second arrow in his abdomen. Parnini then proceeds to withdraw a vial of liquid from her belt pouch.

"Oh come on! I even shouted out a warning for you!"
Shaking his head in disgust, Sangkip hurls himself into the assassin, daggers bared!

Sangkip moves foward like lighting, dagger leading the way and finding purchase in the villainous Parani Akar! She starts at the sight of her own blood looking up only to see an array of colors wash over her eyes. She grasp at her eyes as she drops her bow and the glass vial she was holding freezing in stuned pain! Snagkip too is caught in the radius of of Raynards spell and grasp at his eyes. (make a will save Sangkip) Meanwhile, Erlandle's struggles holding onto life. His faith in his God pulls some of his inner reserves allowing him to stabilize. A moment after that, Siobhan rushes over to call upon all the God's of healing and goodness to impart their healing magics to Erlandle. The positive energy washes over the elf and he chokes out a little blood as he watches in amazement...as the arrows that were embedded in his body...magically push their way out of his torso and the wounds that they caused miraculously seal themselves as the arrows fall to the cobblestones.
Combat Over!
This combat is effectively over. The main 'bad-guy' is out of commission for at least 3 rounds..giving a competent group such as yourselves..plenty of opportunity to capture or kill her. All each character needs to do next is surmise what they did in the next 3 rounds and I'll proceed from there. I'll give everyone till Thursday afternoon to make a post and then continue with the story! Wow good job guys! This was a tough opponent but putting out the fire quickly put her in a much more vulnerable position...You guys did great!
Siobhan Sable |
Siobhan focuses on getting Erlandle up off the ground and checking he is safe. She doesn't actually realise what is going on until she gets a chance to look around and take in the scene.
Not much, in other words!
With the ambush dealt with Siobhan suggests returning the artefacts to safety, and does so with vehement gestures to emphasise her point most clearly!

Just to be clear...I want each of you to state what you do over the next 3 rounds..If the whole party just ignores the threat of your adversary (who is only stunned and blind for 3 rounds) then we will continue with this combat. Having said that...let's assume Siobhan spends one action helping Erlandle to his feet (effectively allowing Erlandle to grab his bow off the ground (as a free action) as he stands from prone on his turn) Siobhan...is there anything else you want to do besides look around in the next 5 actions?
Erlandel |
Erlandel gestures to Siobhan a "grabbing" motion at shoulder-length, then points at Parani Akar, as he calls out "Capture her! The evidence we gathered against her is no good if she gets away."
Erlandel grabs his bow and stows it, then her bow and starts to try and grapple/tie her up. If needed, I will use her bow to do non-lethal damage until we can.
Valtyra Braga |
Valtyra patiently watches as the problem individual is secured.

Ok so at least a couple of you grapple her and begin to tie her up. This combat is officially over. I’ll follow-up with a summary post tomorrow. Good job everyone! FYI I believe Sangkip’s intiative was before Raymards, he jumped forward with his dagger and injured Parnini , only then did Raynard step forward to cast his spell. I didn’ t see a post about delaying action so Sangkip was within the blast radius of the spell. Not that it matters now but, it could have!

The fall-out from your battle with Parini Akar is a complicated, frustrating, drawn out affair. The Greycloaks immediately arrest your group for attacking and subduing one of their own. However, several witnesses step forward and immediately testify that it was Parini that, ambushed your group...not the other way. Later, at Graycloack headquarters, when the leader of the Graycloacks Captain Runewolf, interrogates your group as to why you were investigating a Graycloak without informing him....several prominent Pathfinders show up..including Grandmaster Torch himself.
The Pathfinder seniors, inform Captain Runewolf that it was on their orders that, your investigation ran forward. The Pathfinders also bring Rialla Barleyhusk along. She testifies that the Graycloack, she saw come into her shop was most likely Parini and that, an injury like the one the Pathfinder courier had, shouldn’t have killed him so quickly. Furthermore, she suspects after Parini visited her store she did something to expedite your fellow Pathfinder's death.
When you present the evidence that, you found in the Warehouse: (the bills of sale for the artifacts, Parini's pure legion uniform, ect..) Captain Runewolf becomes more than convinced of Parini's guilt and a trial date is soon set. For a time, you and your group are minor celebrities among the Pathfinders of Absalom. You also develop a fairly positive relationship with the local Graycloaks and city guard for your excellent and even-handed investigation..in showing restraint when it came to the apprehension of Parini..a know killer of Pathfinders.
This concludes the God's Market Gamble.
