Nature. It's a vermin. Sorry, I've been a bit preoocupied and forgot to include potential spoilers. If I don't have checks, you can certainly always roll them.

Cyanne Miller |

Hey gang.
I thought I'd check up on everyone and see how y'all are doing. I am no longer sick. Yay! Here's a bunch of virtual hugs for everyone, with hopes that rough waters smooth out soon.
Hmm

GM Aest |

Hi all. The funeral was yesterday, so I'll be trying to get back to a semi-regular posting schedule. That being said, I'm driving across the United States next week, so it'll be choppy then.
Also, did we ever decide what Kaz/Luthor/Laliytsa wanted to do in terms of strategy?

Cyanne Miller |

My condolences and hugs, Chris. I hope the funeral provided comfort and closure in equal measure.
As far as strategy, here's my recommendation. Somehow, we get through this next battle. It's not my turn to act yet, but I think that Cyanne will have to strike first rather than sing because it's just her and Daen on this side of the crevasse. We'll need more than one fighting.
If Kaz can do nothing else, he can throw rocks at the mites. Do either Kaz or Luthor have slings?
Once we're through this battle, Daen should go over the bridge first with Cyanne holding the rope for him. Then Cyanne should go -- higher acrobatics, it's more likely she'll make the DC, even doomed.
That way the party can stay together.

GM Aest |

Thanks, Cyanne.
As for strategy, I should warn you OOC that Tickleback is the giant bug and Grabbles is the poor mite hanging on for dear life. I should also warn you that Grabbles is the leader of the mites.

GM Aest |

Yeah. We're underground, I'm sure he could find a few suitable stones.

Cyanne Miller |

Great! Throw a rock at the bug, Kaz!
Also, Luthor has a composite bow that he's carrying around. So we can have all kinds of ranged attacks going on.

Cyanne Miller |

Oh well. That's what I get for poking through other character's saddlebags... I guess you can throw rocks too!

Kazimir Vasilovich |

Screw it. I'll do it. I'll chuck some rocks.
And no, Kaz doesn't have a sling. He has a crossbow. Just not on him. >.>

Daen Aheritor |

Sorry for the lack of following the plan. Daen is feeling pretty cocky right now (who wouldn't with those rolls he's been getting lately). I don't know if that did the trick on the tick, but if it did, we only have two more mites over here before we can take our time to get back over the ropes.
Also, for reference, I will be leaving in about 11 hours, and I likely won't be back until the 7th or 8th. I seriously doubt I'll even be able to read the forums during this time, but it's my first vacation time in over three years. I had a working vacation two years ago, so although it was refreshing in a sense, it was also exhausting and didn't really give me the time off I needed.
Also, I got notice last night that a friend of mine has two months to live. So, it's getting crazy for me.
Feel free to bot me while I'm gone, just don't ruin my crit streak. (or kill me, that'd be sad.)

Cyanne Miller |

Daen, that's a heavy mix. Spend time with your sick friend and enjoy your vacation if you can. Maybe we can kill the bug in the next ten hours, and then just break until the 7th, when we can all be together again?

Daen Aheritor |

It's fine to just go ahead and clear out the place. Let Kaz take the lead around the other way and get some gore on that axe of his. Then there will be looting the place, (if there is any) and talking to Mikmek, which Luthor can do, and probably should. Daen isn't particularly patient with That kobold.
There may not be much time to talk to one another until all that is ironed out, so it's cool just to press ahead. If you get done with all that before I get back, I'll be surprised, but it's cool to just forge ahead with what you do have until then. I know I definitely want to do a follow up with Cyanne after the fight, but we can do it in flex time after I get back too.

Cyanne Miller |

I suppose we could do it that way, botting you and Lalliytsa.
Let's get you and I across that bridge after we kill off the remaining mites on our side, assuming that I can hit any with the minus-4 that I have going now.
Maybe I should just sing and buff your damage and Laliytsa's bow and Kaz's rocks.
I am looking forward to that post fight conversation between Daen and Cyanne!
PS Chris, can you remove Hmm from the character list? Thanks!

Kazimir Vasilovich |

No amount of buffing is going to help my rock-throwing, Cy. :P
Daen, that's a heavy mix. Take care of yourself, first and foremost.

Cyanne Miller |

Taking Luthor's and my conversation to discussion...
Chris has marked off characters as dead but left their corpses there. Maybe you could loot the body?
Yeah, the rock throwing seems somewhat ineffective. However, it is chastening to realize that had I just simply sung last time, I would have done more damage through Lali and Daen then by trying to fight on my own behalf.
Sigh. I've given in to the superior mathematics. At least my song includes some important information for everyone else though!

GM Aest |

I usually (sometimes (occasionally)) leave corpses on the map. If I do, they're flipped over so that their "tops" are facing down, to kind-of represent them being dead. I also try to keep a reference of status effects on the side-bar, including dead, shaken, nauseated, etc. If you'd all prefer I remove corpses from the map, I certainly can.

GM Aest |

Bodies have been red-ified. This will only be confusing with really red portraits.

Cyanne Miller |

The tick is gone. Daen will finish off the other two mites, and even if he doesn't, on my turn I can maintain my performance and cut with my rapier.
Why don't we declare the battle done and bot Daen's acro roll to go over the bridge while Kaz and I hold the rope for him? I've got the best acrobatics in the group, but since I'm shaken, I'll tie the rope around my waist and then attempt to cross. Kaz and company can catch me if I fall.
Does this sound like a plan?

Kazimir Vasilovich |

I'm happy to do whatever. Don't want to post until I know what's going on, though :P
Sorry for the silence. Students have left me absolutely wrecked. *weeps inwardly*

I had a kid push me in the back yesterday. He snuck up behind me and pushed lex trying to surprise me. He's eight, and thought it would be funny, so he wasn't trying to hurt me... But he did, because those little hands pushed the buckles of my bra straps into my shoulder blades. D:
Razzafrazzin' kids.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Cyanne Miller |

I'm sorry that the kids have been causing you trouble, Kaz!
So... the ARG errata officially came out and aasimar are now like half-elves with aging... Which means that Cyanne's life story would change completely, and that I would no longer qualify for breadth of experience.
Oh and the bard favored class bonus for aasimars has been ramped back from 1/2 per level to 1/6 level for one form of performance, so it turns out that I won't be getting +2 inspire courage for all of you at level 4 after all. Now I have to decide whether it's worth plowing favored class bonus into that at all.
:(

Cyanne Miller |

So I now have a few day's perspective on the ARG errata, and have decided that the bard favored class bonus change is not a crisis of epic proportions. And Chris already decided that I could be an older woman, so we won't worry about changing Cyanne's life story for the moment. The errata just took me by surprise.
Kaz, how are things going? Are you having a happy weekend away from the kids?
Luthor, here's hoping your weekend is lovely too.
Everyone else, here's hoping that your vacations have been awesome. I look forward to seeing you all next week, and hearing the stories of your travels!

Luthor Rowe |

Lovely weekend so far, went to a theme park with some friends, good times and roller coasters were had by all.
About the Aasimar age thing, is there any reason we need to change that? Why not just ignore it? Its not like longevity is going to be amazingly important, is it?

Cyanne Miller |

It was a story issue more than anything else. I had invested in Cyanne's backstory, thinking about what it would mean to have that slow aging. Really, our school came out of the questions that I explored...
I don't mind shifting mechanics if I have to, but I get really attached to character back stories.
Hmm
PS Speaking of character back stories, have you had a chance to finish yours yet? We brainstormed a little, and I'd love to see the final version of what you came up with.

Daen Aheritor |

So, on vacation with dislocated elbow. Can't hardly type with left hand only. Have to wait 8 hours for right doctor to come in. My bro works at hospital so he knows the situation. Pain is manageable, but enough to keep me up all night.

Cyanne Miller |

Oh, Daen! That sucks on so many levels. I hope that the right doctor comes in and fixes everything. I'd ask you what happened, but I don't want you to type while in pain. :(

GM Aest |

I intend to ignore the ACG errata for this game, unless someone has a dissenting opinion.

Cyanne Miller |

Chris, if your intention is to ignore ACG and ARG errata, I'm good with that!
Daen, here's hoping that you're feeling better!

Kazimir Vasilovich |

I've had a rather rough few weeks. My home situation is growing ever more hostile due to a particular family member moving back in, and I've found out that I won't have my job much longer due to there being no funding for it. So I'm looking for a job and a house, both of which are pretty unattainable right now - I can't get a home loan because I have no reliable income, and I can't get a job because I'm inexperienced in everything that's hiring. I've been stressed to high heaven at work, and when I get home, I've wanted to do nothing but sleep.
I'm still around, but I'm pretty absent right now, and trying to get my life back on track, and to not post when I'm feeling so depressed (which is pretty frequently). Please be patient with me. I'm trying to work my way back into everything.
Daen, that blows. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Daen Aheritor |

Update:
Still on vacation, no regular posting until the 9th. On the elbow front, I've got good and bad news. Good news: it wasn't dislocated. Bad news: I had so much blood in my elbow (emergency room doc pulled out 15cc) from a bone chip or spur that they couldn't tell what was wrong with it as the swelling was so bad it felt like a bone was out of place. I will likely need surgery, and since I have government insurance, there's no telling how long I'll need to wait and whether or not I'll get a doctor that can actually handle the problem. On the upside, I got a shot of cortizone in the joint, so I'm in much less pain and my wife has taken over diaper duty altogether, so I have some reprieve from that.
Kaz- that really sucks. My prayers and well-wishing are with you, if you wanna vent or chat, send me a PM.

![]() |

Kaz, this sucks on so many levels. I'm always open to rants via PM and am more than willing to be a shoulder to cry upon. I cannot offer you much except to say that the times that were the biggest struggle for me also turned out to be, in retrospect, the times of biggest growth. They formed my character, and made me strong.
However that doesn't mean that they don't suck now. I wish that I could offer you something other than virtual and long distance hugs.
Daen, here's wishing you healing and a surgery that is scheduled sooner rather than later.
For myself, stuff is going fairly well. I've got an aikido test coming up on the eighth, and I'm testing for the last brownbelt before blackbelt. It's a serious test, and I'm mostly ready for it, but I also worry that I'm out of shape and nearly fifty. If I pass this one, I'm going to need to get really serious about doing weights and yoga to reclaim my body in preparation for the next level.
All of this is small potatoes compared to what is going on with all of you.
Holding you in the light,
Hmm

Kazimir Vasilovich |

Daen, yeowch. That's really sucky. =(
Hmm, sounds like you've got some work to do. If you've gotten this far, though, that says a lot for your commitment. Kudos!
For myself, I've had another day of stress, of gulping down boiling coffee in the staff room because I only get a single short break, and of coming home to a grouchy step-sister, who's shitty with me because - get this - I moved the (empty) clothes horse out of the loungeroom so I could mop, and put it in the laundry. That was worth having a huge huff over and being toxic for the rest of the evening, apparently. *sigh*
I'll try to squeeze out a quick post now.

GM Aest |

Posts will continue to be shaky for a bit here. I had a bit of a breakdown today when my parents left, putting me about 3000 miles by car from home. I'm trying to find work in Maine with very little safety net, sleeping on a friend's floor, and recovering from my grandpa's death, so bear with me.
Actually, all these problems we're all having seem to be timed well, at least. Silver linings, maybe?

Cyanne Miller |

Chris, I guess all I can do is offer you virtual hugs as well. I wish that I could do more for all of you than say that I'm listening and holding all of you in the light.

Luthor Rowe |

All of you having these rather serious real life problems, and im just sitting here with my rather uneventful everyday life.
Cant do much other than wish for your respective problems to blow over as soon as possible. Oh and virtual hugs as well if anyone wants any.

Kazimir Vasilovich |

Take care of yourself, Chris. I'm just gonna shut up about my own issues after reading that >.>

Cyanne Miller |

If it helps you guys to vent, by all means, vent.
The price for all this venting though is that you have to update us with your good news too, when some starts showing up for all of you. It's only a matter of time before things start turning around.
Brown belt test in aikido in an hour. I'm a little nervous. Wish me luck.

Kazimir Vasilovich |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Well, if you want the good stuff as well... My fiancé got home from work last night, didn't change out of his uniform, and told me to "grab a jacket, we're going out". He refused to tell me where we were going, other than that he wanted gin, and to go somewhere else. After a quick stop at the drive-through bottle-o (we have those in Australia, because we're all pissheads), it was time for our mystery destination:
The new Krispy Kreme store.
He was still in his uniform because he got 25% off if he brought his name tag. He doesn't even LIKE donuts. But he knew I'd had a bad week at work and wanted to get me comfort food.
He can be a total ass sometimes, but god I love that man.
And good luck! Go forth and kick butt! :P

Luthor Rowe |

Sweep the leg Cyanne, you got a problem with that?
On a serious note though, good luck.
Delightful bit of good news there Kaz, I think im getting a contact high here. It made me smile atleast, so thanks.

Kazimir Vasilovich |

You guys have the contact high, I'm just on a sugar high. It's been two days and I still have five left out of the dozen. They won't be good much longer, and I'm afraid of shortening my life span too much! :P

Just K (nature). When in doubt, just fire away and mention in ooc text that you're not sure, or let me know what the modifier is for whatever you think it might be.
