Gimble, The Storyteller |
I'm currently at work. I'll be in front of my computer at home in about 6 or 7 hours. I'll post the findings of the southern room as well as what's behind the double doors at that time. This will give everyone s chance to post. Plus there is still an unidentified wand.
EDIT: Am I also to assume you open the scroll case?
Gimble, The Storyteller |
The scroll tube on the table contains a sheet of parchment on which is drawn a complicated magical sigil in iridescent green ink.
You recognize the sigil as an identifying mark similar to an arcane mark. The sigil is labeled “Six” in Azlanti.
Once everyone is finished with the room to the south, Trutzburg opens the double doors:
Stairs wind upward to the right, circling around a glowing wall of semi-translucent green stone. It seems the Azlanti tower was built around a core of some other material—a spire within a spire. They circle around the Spire two and a half times, climbing through ruined and impassible levels ending at a sturdy wooden door with a shuttered arrow slit in its middle.
Hadgar Blacksun |
Hadgar raises the parchment and wand.
"Anyone care to identify these before we descend the stairs?"
Hadgar do not have the appropriate skill to ID these items.
Qildar |
Qildar waits on the stairs behind the group, wondering what is going on ahead. When he hears his name, he squeezes by to inspect the door for traps. Not seeing any, he tries to unlock the door. Assuming that's what the hold up is and will open it if successful.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9
Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Trutzburg moves aside to let Qildar unlock the door. Just as the rogue finishes and the door unlocks, the arrow slit opens.
Staring at Qildar and Company is a yellow cat-like eye, "HEY! Who trying to get in Grulk's home!?!" The creature raises its bow, aiming through the arrow slit in the door.

Hadgar Blacksun |
Hadgar pushes past Qildar and flies into the room and before the creature can react, launches a shard at the creature as a preemptive attack.
Telekinetic Blast at Bugbear: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Assume in the future that the objects that he flings at his enemies comes from his sack unless stated otherwise. I am tired of elucidating where it comes from by adding the 'from the sack' clause on every post I make.
Antikas Fenrith |
Antikas comes closer and tries to take a shot at the bugbear from the back.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 4 = 0 And his streak of not hitting is holding strong
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Shard is holding his action for now
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Hadgar moves into the room and lets a shard fly, hitting the bugbear in the side just getting past its armor.
While Shard sits tight, Antikas lets a bolt fly, but misses wildly.
Qildar draws his longspear and attacks, but in his haste can't get a clear shot at him.
Longspear: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1-Trutz, 2-Hadgar: 1d2 ⇒ 2
The bugbear grits his teeth, drops his longbow and draws his morningstar. Takes a 5' step toward the half-orc who hit him with the shard and takes a swing, hitting Hadgar square in the chest, staggering him.
Morningstar@Hadgar: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

Sana Salvas |
Sana says to herself "I tell you I am nearly out of healing and you go and take a morningstar to the chest." and sighs.
I have moved some portraits around to reflect the latest posts as I don't believe that was done. Trutzburg would have provoked an AoO which means that Sana casting now to heal Hadgar will not
She hobbles up the stairs.
As she nears Hadgar her hand starts to glow as waves of the same energy from her channel flow and weave between her fingers.
She places her hand on Hadgar's blood-soaked tunic and the energy flows through it.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Hadgar Blacksun |
Bloodied, Hadgar drags himself 5 ft step diagonally and smiles at the cleric as she approaches in front of him to heal him. With great difficulty, the half-orc shifts his head toward his left towards his allies who are still on the stairs.
"Cover me."
With the last remnant of his strength, he flings another shard at Grulk with his telekinesis.
Telekinetic Blast: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Telekinetic Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Oh, it was you. I thought it was the player playing Trutzburg. I think Trutzburg would not get flank bonus since the bugbear backed up against the wall (original GM's position). And since Sana do not want to provoke AoO as she heals Hadgar, I re-position both Sana and Trutzburg to an ideal position where both neither provoke AoO and can accomplish what they set out to do.
Qildar |
Seeing Hadgar get hit, Qildar hesitates, trying to figure out how he can best help. Looking around though, he realizes he needs to move to allow the group to finish the bugbear. He begins to move past Sana and Hadgar, trying to make it look like he is going to help the half-orc. Instead of bending down to help, he plants the butt of his longspear against the floor and wall of the central tower and tries to pole vault himself out of the reach of the bugbear.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 I'm assuming that's a fail.
The longspear slips as he tries to vault and he finds himself trying to avoid a morningstar instead.
_Shard_ |
Shard runs into the room and backs up Trutzburg with a bite at the bugbear.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 To avoid AoO
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Trutzburg steps up and swings his nodachi at the bugbear cutting the goblinoid at the base of the ribs just below its armor. Note: Trutzburg was not flanking, but hit anyway.
Sana moves forward to help Hadgar as the half-orc steps toward the oracle allowing Sana to heal him before Hadgar lets a shard fly at the bugbear, but the shard flies wide of its mark.
Qildar makes his way into the room. He attempts to make his way by Grulk, but the bugbear isn't fooled by the manuever and swings his morningstar at the rogue, but Qildar easily avoids the clumsy attack.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Shard moves in and attempts to bite Grulk, but bites only the air.
Antikas lets an arrow fly, but the bolt ricochets off the bugbear's hide.
The bugbear grimaces at the Nagaji, and brings his morningstar down upon Trutzburg's head with both hands.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Hadgar Blacksun |
"Hey Shard, mind stepping to your left after you take a bite of that brute? Some of us wants a piece of him."
He waits until Shard finishes his share of attacks and moving to the side before firing another shard at the bugbear and moving back down the stairs.
Telekinetic Blast on Bugbear: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Delay until after Shard. If he 5 ft step, Hadgar's action will trigger.
_Shard_ |
Shard glances back at Hadgar "You'd better hit him Blacksun, Trutzburg can't take much more 'o this!" he growls and bounds to the left past Qildar. 5ft Step
And as he lands his jaws open and he tries to bite at the leg of the bugbear.
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Add +2 if I qualify for flanking.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Antikas Fenrith |
Antikas silently lets another arrow fly, hoping this one will get through.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
But alas, trying to not hit his friends means he hits the ceiling.
Qildar |
Qildar moves behind the eidolon and attacks the bugbear with his longspear but misses with everyone moving around.
Attack (Melee): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Damage (P): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Trutzburg, weakened by the blow he took from the bugbear, swings his Nodachi and misses. Sana focuses her energy on the nagaji and heals some of the damage.
Antikas looses another arrow at the ceiling as Shard steps to the side and takes a bite at Grulk, but catches nothing but air.
With Shard giving Hadgar a clear shot at the bugbear, he lets another glass shard fly. The shard strikes, the creature, but only glances off the bugbears toughened hide. Just missed the AC
Qildar uses the Eidolon for cover, and attacks with his longspear, but the bugbear easily sidesteps the attack.
Grulk smiles at the group and once more turns his attention to Trutzburg and takes another forceful swing with his morningstar, knocking the nagaji to the ground unconcious.

Hadgar Blacksun |
Hadgar moves in again only to see the bleeding, unconscious nagaji on the floor. Roaring, Hadgar lobs a shard at smug bugbear with his telekinesis to try to wipe the smile off his face.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
_Shard_ |
