The fact that we oog have substantial disagreements about the nature of morality has been obvious for a long time. It's one of the reasons I like your game. That's okay. Keeping black marks on my character's status because of a misunderstanding, less okay.

Toramin will also sell off the random masterwork armor that he acquired and cash out of the army if he is leaving them.

He will keep the extra bardiche and greatsword. never know when some morally-deficient human will disarm you.

Omen, I don't know if you were following our loot discussion but did you have any input? Do you plan to hand out character-specific loot or just randomly assigned loot that may or may not be useful?

With the exception of Arjax, we’re very poor for 3rd level characters. How you plan to run things will determine how/if we try to correct that.


You have a pile of loot. I'm not going to reach out of the ether and slap anybody for taking a magic item.

I think you misunderstood my earlier question. As a DM, how do you prefer to do loot? Do you foresee these *Get stuff up to X* scenarios being more common than not?

Currently we have a very lopsided loot disparity in the party. Arjax and Toramin have the lion's share while the rest of the party lags considerably behind. This can be corrected through zerosum but I don't want to bother if you plan to do so through other means.


This kind of loot will be common, but there will still be a few random items.

I let the party handle their own loot. If you guys want to pile every magic item on one person I'll give you a weird look but won't say anything. Feel free to try and balance it out. That being said, if you want me to (help) balance the loot I'm a bit of a math wizard.

BTW, if anybody was curious this is how my relationship system works. Every NPC has a relationship rating to you, somewhere in the 0-10 range. 5 being neutral (no predisposition), 0 being 'kill on sight', and 10 being 'take a bullet for you'.

Marcus just needs to get right with the Lord (Torag). After that he will be a perfectly cromulent person.

First off, know that I’ve had great fun playing Psotheos Arjax. However, the background I gave him, the feelings of patriotism for Xilres’ well-being, and the idea that he’d stay in Xilres to help rebuild it, all adds up to me thinking he needs to pass on Geoffrey’s offer. Honestly I can’t come up with a good reason for Psotheos to agree to join the group except through some narrative device that don’t feel like a disservice to his personality and personal goals.

Some characters reach a satisfying ending. It’s okay to walk away.

I’d be happy to start another character. Probably a rogue for useful skills, but not an archer. Most likely a member of Andril's black glove (was that the term used?) who was helping Heff behind the scenes.

I'd prefer Arjax to stay but I understand what you're saying. I'll ponder some realistic motivations and story hooks.

If you do bring a new character in, a skill monkey would be good. I'd suggest against more melee. The front line already feels crowded at times.

I understand and agree with you Arjax. A fitting end.

Perhaps you can try out some of those new playtest classes. Perhaps the investigator? Lots of skills and somebody who knows their way around a laboratory could prove very useful. Of course, go with whatever you wish.

Ditto with the decision to leave Arjax; it does seem like a natural spot for him.

Regarding re-entry, Heff's insiders seem like a great fit, as alluded. Personally, I worry less about the mechanical aspects of a party when creating a character, and I do think rogues are the mainstay of what Heff would have.

I’m not sure what the timing is going to be like but I’m planning on a Han Solo-esque departure and return for Bjorkus. He gets his freedom and leaves to return to his life of piracy but ultimately decides that the notion of helping out with something for the greater good appeals to him and he returns. Maybe he could get a letter of marque for his ship and crew.
