That makes senses for why you haven't posted as much later in the evenings.

Anyone in the know of how Pathfinder Unchained is shaping up? Looking for an excuse to play a rogue that is rogueier than a slayer.
Toramin Gearsmith |
I won't know until the 29th, but I've heard good things.
Dalton Barrowwheel |
Elsewhere. Dalton is just straight mage unless he has a change of ethics.
My RL campaign might necessitate a reroll after the pending encounter, and it might give me a chance to try it out if it's worthwhile.
Pathfinder Unchained is akin to Unearthed Arcana - it's a collection of "optional" rule "updates" (read: attempt to rebalance old content). Also, it contains a plethora of variety, flavor, and minutiae for those who are into it. The 4-corner paladins were my favorite from UA.
Bjorkus |
Besides meeting with the Voices Bjorkus doesn't really have anything specific to accomplish. He's going to visit the Trudd shrine daily and probably spend some time flirting with Ianna but otherwise he'll just pass the time. I suppose he could make some coin with his perform skill.

That makes me want to make a custom spell, Memory of the Maker, or some such, that reveals the name and appearance of the creator of an item. Getting psychic impressions off of objects is a fantasy staple. What level do you think a spell like that would be Omen?
Toramin Gearsmith |
You are pretty close to saving four people, Bjorkus. By my count you have saved: Sehitha, Ianna, and Rilka.
DM Omen |
It would depend on the numbers in the spell Toramin. Is there a save allowed? How long ago can the item have been made? How close does the maker have to be? Is it blocked by certain abjuration spells? I am a fan of the idea that the spells contained in the RAW are only a representation of the magic present in the world, and that other spells exist even if they are not commonly used by adventuring parties.

You have the right of it; spells RAW are merely guidlines to appropriate potency levels for certain characters at certain times. You're encouraged in the DM's guide IIRC to allow spell "reserach", whereby players develop their custom spells.
Without objections, do assume Dalton attempts to scry on Tiasar and contact him via message so we can pester him about the shadow plane if necessary. I must head to bed now though.
Toramin Gearsmith |
Hmmm. They way I'm imagining the spell is that it targets the object, trying to discern its origin from the spiritual impressions left by its making, not the creator. The more effort and the more time expended in the creation of the item the greater the impression. So it would be easier to use this spell to get an image and a name from a magic item, than say a piece of parchment. I would also think that the older the item is the more difficult it would be.
The clever part of this spell is that it doesn't depend making a connection to the person in question, it relies solely on the item -- so avoids pesky saving throws. So it wouldn't give a current image of the crafter to but whatever the crafter looked like at the time of its creation. But, if the crafter were under Non-Detection or Mind Blank when the item was created, then no impression would be left. I can also imagine a spell that could "clean" an item of such spiritual impressions.
The mechanism I'm imagining is that there is some base percentage for the spell to work (probably 70 or 80 those are the usual base numbers for divination), the percentage chance would be modified positively by caster level and the time required to craft the item and negatively modified by the passage of time from when the object was created.

Oh, I do assume that is happening. However high level wizards are not so easily scryed upon...muahahaha...
stuff
That sounds reasonable Toramin, however I'm going to make the alteration that you will not get a name from the spell, as such a notion would be incredibly hard to be left and detected by magic. I would call it a mid-leveled divination spell that you would have access to without much issue (either some gold or some roleplay+diplomacy).

I certainly wouldn't mind pressing forward. I'm very interested in learning more about the connection between Bjorkus and the dragon gem. So I support the idea of Omen providing structure and pushing things along for the week of in game downtime.
Toramin will mostly be using it to see family, enjoy his home town (showing Rilka the observatory), and try to track down clues about who was behind the kidnapping. Are there rules about hiring experts? I had some notion of Toramin using his contacts among the Dibh Muileata to learn of any rumors. Their bards are probably the best equipped in the city at gathering information.
Rilka Featherfeet |
Rilka will spend the week reading, going to the observatory with Toramin, having tea with Coralla, and other relaxing activities. She also helps Toramin track down the mystery person responsible for the kidnapping; probably mostly by trying to figure out the components of the drug and tracking the ingredients if at all possible.

After hitting 70 experience gain in Vindictus has slowed to a crawl.
Have you finished season 2? Story mode missions give the most XP. If you get done with season 2 just help other people with their story mode missions. They give way more XP than regular runs.
"DM pushing stuff along"
No problem, I just didn't want to steamroll over a week if you guys wanted to get something done.
~~~
Rilka, now would be an excellent time to craft some alchemical items since you have both the means and the funds to do it.
Update coming up soon.
Dalton Barrowwheel |
Given the expanse of the Dwarven establishment - and in particular Toramin's family being magically-inclined - would Dalton be able to learn a spell or three? If cost is a factor, I'm thinking providing a few crafted scrolls as payment should work.
Toramin Gearsmith |
I think I'm ready for the next meeting with the Voices.
Bjorkus |
So I hit 81 in Vindictus and I'm a bit lost on how progression is supposed to work. Should I be getting the best gear I can afford and upgrading/enchanting it or should I save my pennies and try to get some drops from raids? I've got ~43m right now.
DM Omen |
You have far more money than I do haha. Even counting all the money I've spent.
Right now, the strategy is to wait for season 3 to start. Level 70/80 gear is supposed to become much cheaper, and level 90 gear will actually be attainable by those who aren't stupid rich. When your event gear wears off get some half-decent armor and a good weapon and bide your time.
