Torin Janzi |

Fat lotta good talking is likely to do now, Janzi snorts as he takes aim. Leave it to Brawniac in the scaly skin over there to talk with his dukes...
Janzi shoots at Red this time, seeing him start to partake in a circle to surround Dunk.
corona laser pistol, focus fire on Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
fire: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10

Janzi gives the natives further hope with his poor aim...

A bullet snaps towards a red hostile, then the soldier reloads.
Sniper Rifle @ Red: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 12 - 2 = 14

Curve Blade: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Slashing Damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Game Master S |

Dunklezahn sneaks a hit through the native's defenses! The grunt of pain transcends language.
They continue to change their tactics to something new... Two of them advance from the platform edge, shooting at Janzi:
Yellow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 for DMG: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Green: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 MISS
The third and remaining holds his axe close and tries to shove Dunk!

After taking down one, R1G5 runs behind the stack of crates, does a barrel roll, and takes a shot at Green.
Stealth vs DC 20 + CR: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30 If successful, target is Flat-Footed (-2 AC) for R1G5' attack only.

Game Master S |

R1G5 drops another one. The humanoid spits blood, and seems to be breathing, barely. Regardless, he won't fight again if he lives.

"Order of operations?! That's your justification?"
Irritated, the Ysoki places a hand on Hum, filling the drone with an electrical charge. He then punches commands into his newly minted custom rig, sending instructions to Hum.
The rifle attachment swivels and takes aim before firing upon the native in yellow.
Attack w/Zero Rifle (Supercharge Weapon): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
The mechanic's heart isn't in it though, the command poorly calculated. "You're an evil bastard, Booker."

Game Master S |

Dunk's swing hits hard. Fear transcends language, and Dunk knows he's got the psychological combat in hand.
All three of the remaining foes drop bows if they haven't. A trio of axes begin to hack at the vesk!

Determined not to let down his friends (not to mention hurt his reputation), Gig takes his time to aim and fire another shot with his Corona Pistol. This time he shoots at red to see if he can take the alien down.
Corona Laser Pistol vs. EAC: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
After shooting, he checks to see if his battery clip is pushed all the way in.

Booker Broadshaw |

"You all were the ones that started shootin' at 'em," Booker complains. His rifle cracks twice.
Sniper Shot @ Red: 1d20 + 12 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 2 - 3 = 21

Janzi's aim isn't great. One of the defeated locals spits blood and groans on the landing pad. The others, still alive take a quick look. Perhaps this day doesn't end in death....

Game Master S |

And indeed, Dunk makes two quick strikes and the foe goes down!
Looking around, a couple might be savable. The burning one Dunk just dropped is not one of them.
For defeating the "welcoming committee" the team earns 4,800 XP.

Torin Janzi |

Janzi drops his corona pistol, muttering under his breath as he races to the side of whichever is closest that might still be breathing.
I swear I don't know why I bother trying to talk to anyone with that scaly hulk and his trigger-happy android and pilot friends around...
Janzi will attempt to stabilize anyone who appears to still be breathing.

Game Master S |

Janzi manages to stabilize two of the locals. Given a bit of help and about 10 minutes, you could probably get their language...

Torin Janzi |

Definitely want to craft something better than what currently exists, or maybe create a hybrid magic/tech device. But for now...
Janzi is gentle with the natives, trying to engage them in conversation as he taps repeatedly on the tetrad certified translator, frequently showing frustration at its limitations. He repeatedly demonstrates that his touch is soothing and can heal a bit.
His first question is why the natives attacked them, conveniently ignoring Dunk's aggression. He follows up with names, ranks, serial numbers, and an extremely abbreviated and edited version of what brought them to Nejeor VI: following the walking dead and trying to keep them from destroying existence utterly.

Game Master S |

Janzi will need to expend some resources to heal them up to speak spends about 10 minutes of going back and forth with no effect. He's about to give up and toss the translator out when a sentence hits his ears, "Istamak will stand strong against
you foul demons.”

Torin Janzi |

Will spend resources, sure, just let me know what I need to spend and I'll mark it off.
Janzi is startled at the phrase. Istamak... he turns the word, which is undoubtedly a name, given the context, over in his head a bit.
We are not demons, he says slowly. Certainly not who you need to stand strong against. That would be the Corpse Fleet. He goes about the arduous process of trying to explain a host of undead spacefarer nihilists.

Torin Janzi |

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 (if it's Bluff, subtract 4 from the result)

Game Master S |

The word corpse, and Janzi's demeanor are enough to change the climate of the conversation. Our people are known as kish and live in the surrounding city of 'Istamak.' We were recently attacked a group of strangers who wore bones and fought with fierce rage. They are also your enemy?”
For getting through to the Kish, and for learning to communicate, the party earns 1,600 XP.

Torin Janzi |

They are, Janzi says firmly, and your enemy, and they enemy of all who breathe. He casts a sidelong eye at R1G5. Or ally with those who breathe.
Where did they go when you bested them?

Game Master S |

"They flew away in their sky machine. We do not know to where."
The two look at each other, "Come. You have shown clemency. We will continue over a meal of food and drink. We also will introduce you to our leader as not a threat."
They seem to not show any grief over their fallen brethren.
