I’m a very good ninja!
Rogers has a good point though. Let’s swap guns next round.

There may be some confusion about where the big eye is. You just pulled right in front of the big laser. We should be in the rear of their ship to be safe(er).

![]() |

No confusion, I did move us to the rear of their ship. They did the 'back off' maneuver, meaning they slid backwards and are still facing the way they were.

Then my confusion was in the way the map displayed on my phone. It looked like the red arrow was pointing at us.

@ All - I plan to report this series of quests as two separate events in order to apply the GM credit to two different characters. So, one this current quest is concluded, I plan to report the first three quests. However, unless someone really wants one before then, I will not prepare a Chronicle sheet for each PC until they have completed all five quests. The only impact I expect this accounting to have on your PCs is that you will see two sessions reported for your characters instead of one.
@ Rogers and Gamuzali - Would you please provide your SFS number/character number as I did not see them listed in the original recruiting thread.

GM Valen |

I'll wrap up the current quest shortly. I want to give the PCs an opportunity to react/reflect, before the debrief.
As I mentioned earlier, I will be leaving out-of-town for a week (mixing business with pleasure, including a con) and don't expect my schedule will allow me to GM a game during that time. I leave early morning, Wednesday, May 23rd, and return late evening the following Tuesday, so probably won't start posting until sometime May 30th.
Please let me know if you want to 1) start the next quest (non-starship combat) ASAP (understanding that we will likely have to take a week's hiatus before it concludes) or 2) wait to start it when I return and play the last two quests through without a hiatus. Once I have 3 votes for either option, I will proceed accordingly.
For what it is worth, in-game, several days elapse between the current quest and the next; the last two-quests happen the same day.

With 5 days remaining until you leave, I would rather start now and take a shorter break overall.

As it has been over 24 hours since the vote was posted, it is time for the grand tally:
1 vote to continue
0 votes to go directly on hiatus
4 abstentions (2 voiced; 2 uncast)
That makes the winning decision to proceed by a majority of one!
On to the next quest!

Hey that break times out really well! I'm going to be moving cross-country this coming weekend, so I'll be pretty much AWOL from Thursday through Sunday or Monday. Preparations for the move have been the major cause of my silence over the past couple weeks. Sorry for that.

"On it!"
Pregenning again for this part; Rogers let me know if you want to switch up roles or still have Iseph on the guns.
I think we should switch. Bad piloting rolls (and maybe some bad piloting decisions) almost cost us in the last one. Let's have Iseph pilot, Gamuzali gunner, and Rogers engineer.

Still traveling. Will be back tomorrow. May need a day to catch up on paying work. So Thursday most likely.

GM Valen wrote:Trying to learn how this works?Unable to pull sufficient power, the pirate ship backs off only slightly and then targets the Starfinders' engines.
During Gunnery Phase, Starfinders take a -2 penalty to all Gunnery checks.
The penalty to Gunnery remains in effect this round due to the pirate captain's taunt last round.
The description is of the actions of other NPCs taken this round. So, I can see how that could be confusing.

Hey folks, I'm gonna be on the road for a couple days again, so I won't be able to post much over the weekend. I should be back and ready to run again by Sunday afternoon, though, so it shouldn't be too long of a delay.

GM Valen |

Thanks. I actually really appreciate your printouts and I think I'll laminate them and bring them to our tabletop sessions.
The printouts were provided to me by GM Tyranius, so pass your thanks along to him. I agree they are highly useful and I've used them extensively at tabletop games (which is probably why I haven't bothered to memorize any it yet).

GM Valen |

Well done, Starfinders!
If you need a Chronicle sooner, please let me know. Otherwise, I will wrap up Monday and get the Chronicles out a few days thereafter.

Great game, Valen! Thanks for running it!
I gotta take some notes on how you ran those starship combats. I've been getting way too bogged down in the starship fight on my side. Hopefully I can move things along more smoothly for the second one.
No rush on the chronicle for me.

Thank you, Valen, and thank you to everyone for an enjoyable game!

GM Valen |

It seem that anyone would mind if I wrapped a little earlier than I had said above.
@ All - Thank you each for a fun (and fast!) run. I'd be happy to share a table with any of you in the future. Thank you also for being willing to correct my mistakes. I really do appreciate it and it is helping me to learn to be a better GM (and player). Again, I plan to get the Chronicles out sometime early next week. Please, do not hesitate to bug me if you need a Chronicle soon and I haven't gotten it to you yet.
@ Levylissa - Welcome again to Starfinder. I am glad you enjoyed the game.
@ Laniakea - You are quite welcome. This game really was a pleasure to run.
@ Gamuzali - Thanks for giving me the opportunity to take a table that you recruited. I appreciate it. As for starship combat, I try to improve the way I run it each time, but it can get slow and somewhat tedious, particularly on-line. Fortunately, I had some great PbP GMs that I've borrowed tips from. All the stuff that works, I've stolen from them, such as the full round summary, rolling initiative with the Pilot roll, etc. I flip back and forth as to whether splitting the round in two, resolving the engineering phase and helm phases completely before moving onto the gunnery phase is the better way to go and doing separate summaries for each. The way I did it in this game may keep things moving faster, but it leads to more confusion and requires much longer summaries (which makes it more likely for me to miss something). I'm still learning at being a PbP GM as well as with Starfinder in general.
@ The Nuar Pair - You guys are beasts! You two in particular really tore those melee fights up. I've got to find a way to get myself one of those race boons!
Happy gaming!

GM Valen |

The wait is over (hopefully)! The Chronicles can be found here (and should even be completed)!
Please let me know if you have any changes/corrections.
Unless I need to fix something, I will go ahead any make this campaign inactive on or about Monday 6/25.
Thanks again for a fun game and I look forward to sharing tables with each of you in the future!

Chronicle looks great! Thanks again for running! I'm glad we could work something out so everyone could play!
