Forward, Port, and Starboard are all the same weapon mount, so as long as we don't choose Aft it doesn't matter. As I read the rules, it looks like a successful Flyby gives you an additional attack as described, in addition to any others that happen normally. So with Harqen's excellent piloting, we've got Turret and Port as normal, plus a bonus Flyby from Forward or Starboard on any chosen quadrant of the enemy. Did I get that wrong?
Ozei lines up the Port cannon.
We're coming in close! Someone man the Starboard cannon for the Flyby and take my usual Duonode bonus!

@ All - I should also point out that prior to the beginning of the next turn (or in the case of the modified rules we are using, at the time you post) you can switch positions.
"We're coming in close! Someone man the Starboard cannon for the Flyby"
Sorry, I'm a bit confused - can the crew change positions at their post for round 8, or round 9? If it's the latter, only Ozei or I could fire the starboard laser cannon during the flyby (as part of a Fire at Will action), but if it's the former, then Neon or perhaps our intrepid leader should grab the gun (and one of the duonode bonuses) for the shot.

GM Valen |

@ Vchk - If you haven't declared an action yet in round 8, I will allow declaring a change of position aat the time f your first post in this round (8). Same procedure applies in each subsequent round. Unless there is an objection, I am being a little loose with the rules on this subject to maintain flow/pace/expediency in starship combat via PbP.
@ Ozei - My interpretation of the text you cited is that the maneuver does NOT grant an extra attack, but only allows one to avoid a "free attack" and reduce range penalties.

![]() |

@ Ozei - My interpretation of the text you cited is that the maneuver does NOT grant an extra attack, but only allows one to avoid a "free attack" and reduce range penalties.
Thanks for the clarification, GM! I think what Ozei means by "free attack" is that the weapon receiving the flyby bonus isn't restricted to the weapons in arcs that can target the enemy ship after movement is completed; i.e., we can make an attack with the starboard weapon as well as the port and turret weapons, giving us one more attack this round than normal.
{"That's some tight flying, Harqen! Try not to make anyone hurl!"}
Vchk will again take the Shoot action with the turret-mounted coilgun, using one of the +1 bonuses from the mk 1 duonode computer to aid his shot (3rd of 3 rounds w/ -2 taunt penalty).

When you started broadcasting your prog, I’m sure that you probably figured that some Eoxians would someday be calling you names or making insults—that was just simply a matter of time. I apologize if I did not make it clear, but one of the players (with the exception of the captain or pilot) could have declared himself to be a third gunner last round and then could have fired a third weapon, one from a different firing arc, as a result of Tarqen’s successful fly-by attack.
That being said, I loved how all of you have been playing up your characters. Also, you all seem to have a pretty good grasp on how to win this battle. So Kudos all around!
Round Eight Round Up!
Engineering Phase
Watdems brings the aft shields of the [i[Loreseeker[/i] to full power.
The undead engineer manages to keep the necromantic power core from failing completely.
Helm Phase
Harqen turns the Loreseeker directly towards the enemy vessel bringing the two craft within inches of each other as the pilot successfully executes a daring fly-by maneuver.
At such close range, each of the Starfinders can see out of their viewports that the Endless Threnody is constructed of metal and supernaturally dense bone, with jagged protrusions that crackle with necromantic energy. Areas of the undead’s ship are exposed directly to space, though by design, as the skeletal crew members within are unaffected by vacuum of space. The interior of the ship appears to be more like a lattice of bone and steel than typical bulkheads. From this close distance, you are also able to see the remains of large numbers of crewmembers, most likely lost a prior battle, though some appear relatively “fresh”.
In response to the oncoming ship, the undead pilot successfully executes evasive maneuvers.
The skeletal science officer looks sadly at his useless, bony hands.
The undead captain encourages the science officer… to get counseling.
Neon Punk chats with fans as his macro efficiently switches the targeting parameters of the Starfinder vessel to the enemy ship’s engines.

Engineering Phase
Despite the spilling of necromantic energy from the substantial damage to the Endless Threnody, the undead captain of the vessel demands that his undead crew continue the fight. ”Spooky!” the undead captain demands, “We need more power!”
”I’m givin’ ‘er all she’s got, Cahptin!” the undead engineer replies as he tries to repair the ship composed of magic and bone.
At first, unsure how best to proceed, the undead engineer decides that his methods must evolve. ”Gotta patchem all!” he cries, poking at a ball joint. Following the captain’s cue, bone structures with the ship evolve. An infusion of necrotic cells, released from the bone structures’ marrow, whack against the undead instruments of the ship causing clots that manage to hold the ship together. (After all, if there is one thing an engineer should know, it is how to train!) The power core of the undead ship remains patched and thrumming!
Meanwhile, aboard the Loreseeker Watdems continues to give new definition to “diverting power” by diverting herself with her stories and a breezy fan while somehow still powering up the weapons. As she keeps things cool, the weapons heat up!
Helm Phase
Rat-like, but not rat-tled, the skilled pilot, Tarqen, flies the Loreseeker in an evasive pattern.
Bone-like, but not bone-headed, the skulled pilot files the Endless Threnody in an evasive pattern.
Meanwhile, the sensationally senseless man offers nonsense as his two cents to the gent manning the sensors. Neon senses the sensors may be incensed. Nothing is detected, not even a sensuous scent as no signal has been sent.
The undead science officer, seeing a hole in the hull of the Endless Threnody , decides that it is time to take leave of his dead end job and steps out in the Drift.

Commencing Quest the Third
Please let me know if you are making any changes between quests.
The disabled Endless Threnody drifts just outside the forward viewport of the Starfinder Pegasus-class starship, Loreseeker. The enormous Corpse Fleet starship bristles with bone spurs, and a baleful red lens at its fore resembles a swollen and bloody eye—the dreaded Eye-Beam™. Crackles of dark energy leap across the bone spurs, discharging from the ruined ship’s necromantic power source.
With a burst of static and a flash, a blue-hued hologram of Venture-Captain Arvin appears at the Loreseeker’s communications station.
“Excellent work.” Arvin says, not without a hint of sarcasm. The eyes of his holographic image appear to be drawn to one of the oxygen masks still dangling from the ceiling of the Loreseeker bridge.
Suddenly, there is a thump, rattle, and scraping sound coming from the forward viewport as the skeletal body of an undead being, dressed in a ragged version of a science officer’s uniform, strikes the front of the viewport window.
Then, as the ship hums forward in the Drift, the undead is slowly dragged across the viewport window towards the window’s edge, before disappearing out of site.
After conveying a quizzical look, the holographic image of the Venture-Captain resumes moving its mouth in sync with the lashunta man’s voice, “The Endless Threnody is incapacitated, but not pulverized. I need you to board that vessel, access the main computers at the bridge, and recover the coordinates of the missing Starfinder vessel’s crash site.”
“That energy signature looks dangerous, and those discharges can damage your hull.” the Venture-Captain continues. As if on cue, a violent ribbon of necromantic energy shoots out of from the forward portion of incapacitated, undead ship and vaporizes a piece of space debris. “Dock at the cargo bay at the rear of the ship and make your way forward to the bridge. Wear space suits if your armor can’t protect you from vacuum—there are a few suits in a storage locker aboard your ship. Eoxian ships do not have life support and are often exposed to space.”
The Venture-Captain, then seems to hesitate for a while, before he asks, ”Any questions?”
When ready, whoever is piloting (presumably Tarqen unless you want to switch things up) needs to give me a piloting check in order to maneuver the Loreseeker to align with the Endless Threnody’s rear cargo bay.

At the moment, it looks like an emoji being sick. “Time to spread the light of the cosmos to some [censored].” The built-in profanity filter must have been an added touch - maybe Neon’s more family-friendly than expected.

"Team, listen for a moment! I know that Eoxian vessels are often powered by magic as well as technology. In addition to the above, I know that in the past many Eoxian ships relied on necromantic energies that radiate a minor aura of cold damage in addition to powering the ship. Many Eoxians died to bring us this information so let us be careful!!"
Harqen then steers the Loreseeker in the direction of the Endless Threnody’s rear cargo bay.

Tarqen manages to bring the Loreseeker into alignment with the rear of the Endless Threnody without any additional damage to the ship.
Once the Loreseeker has docked with the undead ship, you depart from the Starfinder vessel into the vacuum of the Endless Threnody. The Endless Threnody has normal gravity but has no light. There are no doors in the interior of the ship.
You find yourselves in a mostly empty cargo bay. The cold of space feels even more icy aboard the ship, perhaps the result of the necromantic energies still surging through the vessel. You spy a small computer terminal within the cargo bay. At the other end of the cargo bay lies three wide openings leading to the ship's central passages.
To minimize the necromantic energy from the terminal requires a single skill check, either Computers, Engineering, or Mysticism check, and the check may only be attempted once.

Harqen walks to the terminal. "We have to be very careful because of the necromantic energies!"

Ozei readies her pistol and stands watch while Harqen attempts to hack the terminal.

She's distracted, however, by the disturbing amount of bone making up the ship's structure.

"Boy! Where are you? I need to go. Take me to the bathroom before we leave."Zapp's mind explodes in agony; his head wound has not been so painful for some time. He reluctantly complies and rejoins the briefing as quickly as possible.
"Zapp, I have to admit that I do not understand half the things you say but the clarity of your words impress me this time and I am fully agreeing with you!"
The man hastily deactivates his comm, down which the words he just said were scrolling. Back wherever he is, Kiff sees the sudden hang-up. Someone probably questioned the statement, good riddance. How does he always survive? And why am I always assigned to him?!
When it comes time to board the ship, he pulls up a tutorial on activating his suit, then does just so. Pistol in hand, he follows just behind the front-liners as Harqen works his magic.

Watdems urges her chair forward out of the cargo bay. She clicks the flashlight on her comm device on and a small, dim glow illuminates from her hand, down the hall.
