Kazu, I hope that things work out.

![]() |

GM, can you enable only Phoebee to see things, I have a whole bunch of characters on this thread and don't really need them. Please and thank you.

![]() |

Dear all, really sorry. A crisis came up at work this week and things are a bit crazy right now. I just got home from a 16hr day today, and things don't look like they will improve just yet. I believe the situation will improve past this weekend. Please bot me freely.
Hope things turn around soon! In the meantime, I think Kazu is mostly just laying on the floor, so you're not missing much, post-wise :P

![]() |

Thanks!

![]() |

Y'know how I mentioned Vulpina has a history of undead encounters that don't go well? Getting ghoul fever was like, the beginning of that trend.
She has two bottles of antiplague, so if no one else gets bitten, she'll be giving the other to Kazu :P

![]() |

Lol, Phoebee has a history of killing death knights, lol.

![]() |

The good thing is she has a reach weapon

![]() |

Ok, work is returning to normalcy.
I'm not posting just yet though because I really think we need a proper plan if we are going to get out of this. Lost track who cast the grease but can they be dismissed? I think our best course of action now is to pull Mardak out from there and try to draw out the ghast. If it doesn't follow, we can at least heal up and go in to try again. Right now, the grease patches are dividing our party, and the ghast has vast superiority in terrain. And if goes after Vulpina, she'll be trapped with it.

![]() |

I just did some looking into it and, although I am a n00b mage, was able to figure out: yes, it's dismissable with a standard action. If I had realized that, I'd have probably dismissed it back while the ghast was on one side of the grease and the party was on the other :P

![]() |

Who is up>?

![]() |

Yup, Grease is dismissable. The spells are as long as they have the (D) by the duration.

![]() |

As of right now everyone is up to act except for Vulpina and Mardak as he is now paralyzed.

![]() |

Lady Vulpina can retcon this round if need to also since you guys are formulating a plan.

![]() |

She would have dismissed the grease spell as well, I believe I asked about that in the game forum.

![]() |

:)

![]() |

I really don't know what we can do here.. accept head in after it. Otherwise, its just going to munch on Mardak, and that is not something Senach could stand by for.
I am going to go ahead and try Vulpina's idea and head down the tunnel, take a swing, and then take five ft steps trying to clear room for everyone else to come in behind.
If anyone has something they want to try first, Senach is fine with holding action until that is done.

![]() |

Her spells need to be able to target the opponent so being bottle necked isn't helping.

![]() |

With a bit of room to maneuver, Vulpina should be able to handle the ghast (21AC if I can move, and depending on situation, that can shut a full attack to a single attack), or at least force it into a flankable position -- we just need to get Mardak out of the way, and get Vulpina where he is now.

![]() |

Yes, being in the way is keeping us from getting there :)

![]() |

If I am down someone can stand over me and fight, I think?

![]() |

I am not sure that she could with a reach weapon though.

![]() |

Will we be done by the time we get to the Game Day in March?

![]() |

(Moving things to discussion thread.)
Vulpina, should the ghast moves forward, you'll be trapped though?

![]() |

(Good call!)
Yeah, that's the current flaw in my plan. There are a few things I'm leaving up to luck, but I took antiplague and if he does move forward, if nothing else he's no longer in cover and y'all straight-melee types can wail on him.
(With any luck, though, I can trip him at a +7 and jump over him with Acrobatics, if the GM will allow it.)

![]() |

Really sorry to have put this spanner in the works. Barbarians are not smart and I was worried it would get away.

![]() |

I will fire off a message as we are right at the end of this scenario set.

![]() |

I had just signed in for the first time since early Monday morning when I received the message.
Mondays are absolutely terrible for me under the best of circumstances, and this weekend/week has certainly not been that by any stretch of the imagination. The reason Mondays are so bad is that it is my transition day between my two jobs. Sunday night I work 1700-0630 Monday morning, then turn around and am at my other job from 1400-0200ish Tuesday morning. (heavy emphasis on the "ish") Typically, I am lucky to get around 5 hours of sleep between the two shifts, and I am wiped when I get home Tuesday morning and sleep pretty much until I am due back at work Tuesday afternoon! I am sorry for how this has affected the game so far!

![]() |

I have no idea why, but I was working with a completely different set of numbers when I figured "Vulpina will be fine."

![]() |

Yikes, it looks like things are up to Phoebee.
What do we do?

![]() |

2nd (2/day)— heckle (DC 16), suggestion (DC 16)
1st (4/day)— charm person (DC 15), chord of shards UM (DC 15), grease, hideous laughter (DC 15)
0 (at will)— daze (DC 14), detect magic , ghost sound (DC 14), message, prestidigitation, resistance

![]() |

All the ones that would be most useful here are mind-affecting, unless we wanted to try Grease again (third time's the charm???).
I feel personally responsible for this situation and can't help but keep thinking of how my halfling tank would be soooooo much better for this scenario. 31 AC at second level.

![]() |

Woah! That's amazing! I must check out your build!
And nah, we definitely have a challenge here. The terrain is not helping. I played this scenario before and it was similarly challenging. But as that was on roll20, it helped to be able to coordinate our tactics. That would be more challenging in PBP, but assuming we manage to withdraw, let's discuss our strategy before going in again. 'sides, you're the only one who actually damaged it!

![]() |

At least is isnt the Dalsine Affair.

![]() |

I'm somewhat familiar with the "regular" ghast, which has only like 16-20 HP and around a +5 or +6 to his attack. Presumably, that one's much lower level, and my brain keeps confusing the two.
As for her, she's based on an old character of mine who is not suited for combat, so she's entirely defensive. 10 + 8 O-Yoroi Armor + 4 Tower Shield + 2 Dex + 1 Size = 25. Cautious Fighter gives an additional +2 when fighting defensively or using Full Defense; since she always fights defensively or uses Full Defense, she's at 29 or 31 AC. For added fun, Blundering Defense means that all allies adjacent to me gain a +2 to AC/CMD when I fight defensively and a +3 when I use Full Defense.
She's a Phalanx Soldier, so it only gets more ridiculous from there.
...Unfortunately the o-yoroi isn't actually legal in PFS until I get to a level where I'm allowed to purchase a single item costing 1850gp, so I'm gonna have to drop that armor bonus by a few until then.

![]() |

Neat build!

![]() |

Dont feel bad I was DMing a Dalsine Affair scenario and I double critted on one hit in the last fight and the damage was enough to kill a player. He was so pissed at me.

![]() |

Your guys' rolls have been against you this whole fight as well which didn't seem to help. :(

![]() |

Not to mention the ghast managing to save against two Greasings. I think we're at a roughly 50% chance to trip him up with it, so that's just medium-bad luck, but it's rough with the rest of our bad luck getting in the way.

![]() |

Miss Angelica Jinkx
Kudos if you get the reference.

![]() |

Is this the BBEG of the module or just a regular encounter.

![]() |

A regular encounter, though I would consider it the BBEG.

![]() |

Hope Vulpina's the only death :D That way maybe I can get resurrected.
I don't know that Vulpina's dead for a fact yet, but uh. That's effectively a "roll 19 or higher," unless I'm forgetting any bonuses/penalties that would apply.

![]() |

Just as an FYI, by the way, Vulpina also has a CLW wand on her belt, if anyone needs it. Too late to help Vulpina with it (unless I make my roll), but she doesn't disappear after death, so.
