Yup, we can do that Dash. Though the robot would target as many as possible I will keep his attack as is as it will mess to much up. So Kcectic and Vetch's attacks hit from last round and has been updated. Whch is probably best as that crit would of hurt a lot of people instead of just one.

Dash pushes off the wall, back to his allies and slams his back into the cavern's jagged edge. Will avoid the AoO as you wouldn't have been near him.

Kcectic gets another sparks in with his laser pistol as he clips an actuator moving one of the quad legs. The leg sputters before going slack, dragging behind.

Seeing an exposed board, vetch takes careful aim as he props himself against the wall. The board splits the circuit, cutting off the electrons path as a smoldering ember takes root.

Abe is able to stop the physical spinning, but his mind has yet to compensate and adjust as it causes his and Messalina's shots to miss.

The robot continues to burn.

Reflex DC 11: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Though the lack of oxygen in the open space quickly snuffs the embers out. The robot lurches forward to follow Dash and is thrown off by the Zero-Gravity. The heavy frame hurtles forward, slamming Abe into the wall.

DC 20 Acrobatics or off Kilter.

Security Robot Acrobatics Off Kilter check DC 20: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17

The advanced sensors calculate faster than the human mind as the robot tries to right itself. Though that must be the board that Vetch damaged as the robot continues to spin, firing it's tactical arc emitter into the corner at Abe and Dash.

Provoke AoO from Abe for firing ranged weapon.

The pair jerk and thrash about, unable to avoid the point blank jolt. Your comm devices crackle with static as sparks and electricity flow around the Security robot once more. It looks as if another burst may happen soon.

Closer to death than anytime he can remember, Dash floats in the cave wondering what the next group of fools recruited by the Starfinders will think of his artificial remains.

He has two choices. Use his last spellgem and hope it’s enough. Or use his last few moments to wipe his iComm browser history.

Dash calls on the last bit of energy that he has and sends missiles of his own rocketing back at the security robot. Each one dents in the chassis more and more.

Kcectic and Vetch each are able to successfully land a series of shots into the joints. Though the fire doesn't seem quite as effective as the electricity it does do the job.

The bad news is the robot still stands, though barely. Several circuits and joints seem to now be inoperable as they hang limp.

You avoid the AoO as the robot is Off-Kilter and considered flat-footed.

Messalina is able to land the debilitating blow. The bullet enters into the back of the chassis and the Security robot jerks one final time before floating motionless in the chamber.

The security robot’s design clearly originates from beyond the Pact Worlds. You can possibly sell it as a curiosity to a scholar or collector for around 2,000 credits.

Abe breathes a heavy sigh of relief when the robot finally goes limp, slowly spinning in the airless room. He begs off Vetch for the moment, ”No, I too need to rest, and tinker with Messalina a bit (including reloading her weapon). She took some damage too. Does anyone have a spare Mend spell handy? Sure would take the edge off.” he passes on further investigation until he’s rested.

I can’t now find the rule, but during my 10 minute rest, I can repair my drone 10% of its max hp once a day free. I think it costs me resolve to do it more than the one time, but I can’t find the rule.

Once rested (and leveled!) Abe will do what he can to decipher the technology.
Take 20 Engineering: 20 + 10 = 30

While he's looking, he'll turn on Messalina's camera and have her video the wall and chamber, recording it on his custom rig.

I don’t know if I can Take 20 with engineering so I’m holding off describing what I find.

Taking 20:
When you have plenty of time to devote to a skill’s task and that task has no adverse effect upon failure, the GM might rule that you can take 20 on that skill check. This is similar to taking 10, but instead of assuming your roll was a 10, you assume it’s a 20.

Taking 20 means you are making multiple attempts at the task until you get it right. It also assumes that you are failing many times before you succeed. Taking 20 typically takes 20 times as long as attempting a single check would take (usually 2 minutes for a skill that takes a standard action to perform).

Dash taps away at his iComm as he floats in the vacuum.

I can mend the drone, but it takes 10 minutes and I need to rest too. If you think we can afford the air time, I’ll do it, though I suggest holding off until we find oxygen.

Resting and healing/mending will use up 20 minutes of air (unless we can do both at the same time). I think that would leave us with maybe 10 minutes, plus whatever Dash has conserved by holding his breath.

"Ahh, right, I'd forgotten the spell takes a while to cast. Let's wait on that."

"These controls are interesting. This hybrid machinery is advanced technology of a type not seen in the Pact Worlds system and that it seems to primarily deal with monitoring the status and operation of larger, unknown systems located elsewhere. This is a control center I bet."

Repair Drone FAQ (Link)

@Abe- In this case you can take 20 as it is more information from knowledge rather than tinkering at something that has a possibility of failure.

Yup it is 1 day of air per level of the armor.

@Vetch- I am in the beta here now. It is very very basic with no option to output your statblock like with Pathfinder yet. There is just a play feature to look at all your stats on one pretty interface with roll options. More is being added each day.

Able to figure out a small portion of the puzzle Abe begins to tinker with a few of the controls on the wall down the hallway that the robot was patrolling. They have little to no effect from what he is able to tell.

DC 15 Perception:
You notice that the lower portion of a wall panel in the northwest corner is actually a concealed hatch.

This small chamber was once a storage area for spare parts and small maintenance and repair robots, but it is now empty save for a dead body. Careful inspection of the body shows striking resemblance to the driftdead encountered mere moments ago. Inspection of the body shows numerous wounds but the more obvious cause of death is a self-inflicted wound to her head on the near skeletal frame.

His head fills again with the void, in what is becoming an increasingly common occurrence, and he turns to his companions. "I might be able to make this body speak, but I can not guarantee anything it says will be useful. As a last resort though, only if that datapad leaves us with more questions." Kectic's distaste for dead things clashes with his curiosity and his desire to use his developing powers.

GM:

Per the spell Grave Words:

Spoiler:
You can force a touched corpse talk to you, but you can’t ask it specific questions or communicate with it at all. The corpse utters random sentences for 1 round, with a 10% chance this information is of some use to you. Useful information might include warnings about dangers in a wrecked Starship, the password to unlock a computer, or the name of a Supernatural creature seeking you or your allies. The GM makes the d% roll in secret and decides what information, useful or not, the corpse spews out in its babbling.

Once a corpse has been subjected to grave words by any caster, any new attempt to cast grave words on that corpse fails. A corpse must have a mouth or means to speak in order for this spell to function, and the spell doesn’t affect a corpse that has been turned into an undead creature.

I don't know if the driftdead is created from the soul or the physical body, or if that matters, so the spell might not work anyway but I figured I'd offer it up.

Abe gathers up the items passing them around to carry, until he gets to the data pad.

Dash picks up the spent arc pistol and looks to Abe. ”Do you still have that spare battery?”

Abe digs through his pack for a spare battery, one of two he carries. He tosses it to Dash, "Help yourself. It's fully charged." (Battery (20charges, bulk -))

”Any of you have any spare slots in your armor for this?” he holds up a generator. ”I’m using my slot currently, but it’d be nice to start charging some batteries.”

You can connect charged electric items such as batteries to this miniature generator to recharge them. The electricity comes from the kinetic energy of your movement, which generates 1 charge every 10 minutes of movement. No more than one item can be plugged in at a time, and the generator doesn’t produce charges when you’re resting or otherwise stationary.

So...the azimuth crit condition was done wrong here, not once, but twice.

A nat 20 is double damage AND the effect (in this case 1d4 burn). Vetch didn't roll double damage, nor did he properly give the target the burn effect: which is Burning condition, which means the bot should have been on fire until put out, doing 1d4 damage each round, until extinguished.

Of course, in an airless environment, it probably didn't happen for more than 1 round, but still should try to do it correctly.

@Vetch- Correct it is double damage along with the critical effect. In this case burning which is rolled each round to determine the Reflex DC to be able to put it out. The burning happens at the beginning of the burning creatures turn. Though in this case it is best to just roll it on your turn so I know what the DC is. The reflex roll for the robot on his turn was for that burning condition. So it only lasted the 1 round.

Kcectic drops down near the body. Placing a hand on the skeletal chest the head twitches as the mouth opens and closes in a speechless pattern as the voice doesn't travel in space with no comm unit.

Dash watches closes as this seems odd at first. The Estex suit bears no insignia of the Acreon whatsoever. Vetch drawsthe conclusion that the more immediate wound causing the death to be a self- inflicted wound to her head.

Abe picks up the personal datapad and sets to work cracking into it's files. Within a quick minute a hologram appears just above the pad, with a young, beautiful human woman with dark hair pulled into a ponytail. Picture in the maps.

"I am Captain Moriko Nash. I am Captain of the independent Starship the Sunrise Maiden. We recently discovered a strange and wonderful asteroid, floating within the drift. My crew found a cavern within and began to explore the hidden chambers within." She says as he voice sounds weak and broken. "We quickly came under attack by some monster. It...it seemed to consume life energy and could walk through walls. It is terrifying. Wounded I barely managed to escape, hiding within a wall panel. I modified my armors force field to extend a bubble around me as it seemed unable to pass through. Though it is now low on power." She says as she frowns and ends the recording with the following.

“I think I’ve come to terms with it. I won’t survive, but at least I’ve explored strange worlds and seen wonders I would never have dreamed of as a child. I guess everything comes to an end eventually. I’ve always been the master of my own fate, and I’m not going to change now.” Captain Nash holds up a pistol. “When my force field goes down, I’ll fight. But I’m saving my last charge for myself. My life, my death.

“This is my last will and testament. To whoever finds this recording, I leave the Sunrise Maiden to you. It’s a good ship, and no matter where I’ve gone, it’s always brought me home... until now. If you treat it right, it’ll do the same for you. Leave my body where you found it—we came from the stars, and to the stars I’ll return—but the Maiden deserves to keep flying.” Nash takes a deep breath and ends the recording.

DC 15 Culture check:
You recognize the Sunrise Maiden as the name of a starship that was reported lost in the Drift in 242 ag. The ship and its crew were never found—until now. That was over 75 years ago.

Thinking back on the Driftdead Vetch doesn't see a correlation between this monster and a Driftdead. A driftdead is created when a person is killed within the drift and consumed by strong negative emotions.

"I think I can better handle another incorporeal creature now that I'm ready for it and now that Kcectic demonstrated how to beat it. Let's get at it," Vetch agrees with Dash.

When others are ready, he scouts forward.

Dash considers the situation. ”If it’s another incorporeal monster I think I’ve figured out how to replicate these spellgems and f@#% it up with magical missiles. Captain Nash said she managed to modify her force field to protect her against it, so we should use one of Abe’s batteries to power it up for someone to run interference if we encounter it.”

He looks expectantly at Vetch.

"The force field requires a 10 charge battery, I don't know if my 20 charge battery will work, but even if so, does anyone have any armor with two slots open? My armor is too light and won't work with this field."

The force field add on requires two armor slots.

Abe takes out his laser rifle and backs up Vetch as before - keeping well back, but trying to provide backup in the event something bad happens.

@Dash and Kcectic- Do you wish to use a resolve to top off Stamina from before?

The various lights and controls on the machinery in this room provide dim light. This chamber seems torn between two worlds—its southeastern half is an unfinished rock wall, while the northeastern portion of the room is finished with the same ceramic-metallic plating found all throughout the complex. This looks to be some sort of Auxillary control room.

Computers check to gain access to the system.

Abe is able to hack into the console, though he runs into a completely separate problem now. Understanding the alien programming...

With a few long moments Abe is only able to pick out a few key words that strike out to him.

...Back up power transmission....
...Manuever thrusters....
...Auxiliary fire control....

This strange alien coding hint that this asteroid must have been part of some sort of ancient space-based weapon system.

In addition, the data reveals that these systems and the control room itself are incredibly ancient—possibly even millions of years old. In fact, it appears that the Drift Rock is not just an asteroid that was repurposed as a control center, but that it was a part of the larger structure that was designed and artificially constructed at the same time as the machinery and controls here. And if all that is true, then the Drift Rock represents a find of major significance, for not only is it a piece of heretofore-unknown technology of exceedingly advanced age, but the larger structure it was once a part of may still be somewhere among the stars, just waiting to be discovered!

Abe excitedly tells the others what he found. "I'd love to delve further, but we don't know what the ship was, or where it was damaged/cleaved, so turning something on might blow the whole thing - or launch a missile at Absalom Station."

He pulls himself away from the console mumbling, "If I only knew the language..."

He moves to he next door, re-equipping his laser rifle, and makes ready to proceed behind Vetch.

I wanted to spend a resolve while healing Dash but am unsure if those can be done together. Would be good to know for the future, but either way, yes I'l spend the point.

"Is this the discovery that led the miners to breach their contract?" Kcectic wonders out loud. "It is quite the discovery and certainly beyond the breadth of their orders but I'm not sure that gives them claim to it either. This seems like something too dangerous to be handled by any one organization though."

I don't see it hurting anything if done together. It would be similar to a Mechanic repairing their droid and doing the same I would think.

The door continues down a short hallway as the group continues to scout ahead.

With its vaulted ceiling and smoothed stone floor, this sprawling cavern has the appearance of a primitive shuttle hangar or landing bay an impression reinforced by the presence of a starship taking up the majority of the space. Only the western wall is finished with the ceramic-metallic plating found elsewhere in the complex; the remainder of the cavern is hemmed by natural rock walls. Huge doors stand in the eastern wall of the chamber—doors easily big enough to accommodate the starship parked in front of them. Of more immediate interest, however, are the two human bodies splayed on the floor just inside the western doors, their internal organs spread artfully on the floor around the corpses.

The ceiling of this room is 60 feet high.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Vetch says, waving the team to his position. "Those corpses don't look so good. There might be something here that did that."

When others are ready, he will cast Ghost Sound in and around the starship to mimic the sounds of people and men preparing the craft for flight.

Then he will realize the futility of his actions, as there is no sound in a void. Instead he will cast Detect Magic and scan from where he is.

"Do you think that's the Sunrise Maiden?" Abe says, trying to not stare at it so intently. What kind of computer does it have? How are the shields? Is the powerplant sufficient? How good are the scanners?

A million thoughts rush through his head all at once, before he lowers his gaze to the bodies and their 'artful' pose.

"Yeah, I don't think dead bodies do that on their own. Someone placed them. So someone is still here."

He shoulders his laser rifle and looks around for trouble. He flips Messalina's camera on record.

Kcectic recognizes the Sunrise Maiden as a Sanjaval Vagabond, a common (though somewhat outdated) model of starship known for its toughness and dependability. According to Moriko Nash’s last will and testament, the Sunrise Maiden is legally theirs now.

As Kcectic Abe peers at the ship he catches a small bit of movement as a strange winged beast scurries across the top just out of view. The creature has near translucent wings and no eyes as it's head seems to be nearly all mouth filled with razor sharp teeth.

Sensing fresh life the beast raises its head and hisses silently towards Abe. A bloodcurdling deep voice rings through Abe's head and is near indecipherable. "Fresh meat so soon..."

The voice switches to Vetch. "Your anatomy is different from the bare one. I wonder how your insides will look?"

The beast flaps into the space, gently floating in the air with ease 30 feet in the air.

Vetch recognizes the beast as a Garaggakal. He knows that they are able to sense emotion as far as the eye can see. While not required to breath and immune to radiation garaggakal's are susceptible to electricity based attacks.

Vetch also knows that they are able to leech life from living creatures from a distance that seems to make them stronger as well as being able to phase through solid barriers. Though it is able to phase through most solid objects, force effects seem to stop the garaggakals in their path as they are unable to phase through them.

The Drift very much remains a mystery to explorers and scholars in the Pact Worlds. While life exists there—usually dragged along when the piece of the plane it happened to be occupying was pulled into
the Drift by a traveling starship—scientists have only recently begun to recognize that the Drift also contains native life. One of these creatures is the garaggakal, sometimes called a “Drift wraith” by those spacefarers fortunate enough to have survived an encounter with one.

Many xenobiologists believe garaggakals can absorb and subsist on the planar energies of the Drift and don’t actually need to feed on living creatures, even though they hunt. A garaggakal will make a temporary lair on a floating chunk of terrain, using it as a base from which to mount hunting forays into the plane nearby. Inevitably, however, the garaggakal abandons its lair in search of better hunting grounds.

Highly intelligent, garaggakals display intense curiosity about other creatures, but their extremely alien mindset makes peaceful interaction difficult, if not impossible. Garaggakals seem to divide all life into two categories: predators (such as itself) and prey (everything else). To a garaggakal, the best way to learn more about a new alien species is to kill, dissect, and eat it—and not necessarily always in that order.

With little time to react Messalina clips the outsider's wing with a bullet as Vetch batter's it's bony frame with sparks from his cables.
