Quiven Glist

Quiven also takes a 5' step, attemption to leave a flanking position open for one of the others. he then takes a full attack on the gobby!
Rapier: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Mace: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
| GM thunderspirit |
[spoiler=Ander]I can see both sides, but AFAIC that works fine.
Quiven moves and strikes, but without success!
Maddie cures Carl!
In gratitude, Carl tries to murdalize Warchief Ripnugget, with a fair amount of success!
| GM thunderspirit |
...and Ander finishes him off.
I'm gonna call the combat here; once you guys turned the numbers tide (and survived Ripnugget's Spirited Charge) it was essentially all over but the shouting.
Out of combat!
Beleg the Galtan
|
"I've got my own wand." The disgruntled magus shoves it in Maddie's direction.
clw: 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 8) + 4 = 25
Beleg moves over to the goblin who injured him and kicks him in the face. "La vie c'est de la merde."
Quiven Glist
|
Laverne sees a murder? What? Is that some sort of spell to rid the evil from goblins? Quiven has taken a little time to learn about spells and such but Beleg's muttering escapes his comprehension.
Quiven will help with the search of the goblins.
Beleg the Galtan
|
Beleg grins at the halfling's misunderstanding. "It is a saying we have in Galt. Life is s*&@." At that he pulls out his mandatory post-battle cigarette and lights up.
Quiven Glist
|
You should cheer up. Want a banana?
Beleg the Galtan
|
*blows a puff of smoke* "Sure."
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven digs into his backpack for the said fruit. Here ya go! I hope you like them a little on the ripe side. Quiven takes one out for himself as well and offers to the rest of the group. Anyone find anything interesting on these things? Ypu think this was their leader? Maybe they won't attack the town anymore if we killed the leader!
Beleg the Galtan
|
"T'ought 'ere was 'omet'in' more'n goblins here." Beleg says with a mouth full of banana. Swallow "I think we've got more surprises ahead of us."
Quiven Glist
|
Oh. You're probably right. I admit its pretty fun doing all the exploring in here. So where to then?
Beleg the Galtan
|
Beleg puts his hand up in the direction of the halfling, indicating for him to lead the way. He tosses the banana peel on top of the dead goblin leader's face.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven smiles and struts back to the north where the group was before the ambush. We haven't tried this door here yet. Quiven will do the usual and open the door once the rest of the party catches up.
The door just south of where I positioned myself on the map.
Maddie Sykes
|
While Beleg and Quiven bond over a banana, Maddie makes sure to check the goblin bodies for anything useful, casting Detect Magic on objects found, and taking time to decipher the use of anything magical.
If it speeds things up, feel free to make Spellcraft checks for Maddie, GM.
| GM thunderspirit |
A quick search of the chieftain reveals a spiffy-looking shortsword, quite well-made breastplate (sized Small), two potions, a key ring with numerous keys on it, and of course his dented crown. Maddie notes that the shortsword and potion bottles both glow.
The warchanter had a shortsword and studded leather armor, along with a potion bottle and a wand that both glow to Maddie's detect magic.
I'll let Maddie roll, since she can't hit either one with a Take 10
three potions of cure light wounds
wand of silent image (5 charges)
shortsword +1
The door indicated by the red arrow stands wide open; it is evident this is from where the goblin chief and his crew came.
Quiven and Carl open the door to find a room with a round table and a few chairs as its only furnishings. It appears to be a meeting room of some sort. You see nothing of value in the room.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
"The shortsword is enchanted to be more powerful, I have no idea what the potions do."
Quiven Glist
|
The shortsword glows? Where did a goblin get a glowy shortsword? Is it a special sword? Maybe I could use it.
Maddie Sykes
|
"By all means..." Maddie hands the +1 shortsword to Quiven, as well as the keys, "It might go faster if we try those."
Forgot to Spellcraft the wand
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"The wand is beyond my comprehension as well."
Quiven Glist
|
Thanks! Maybe it'll do better than my mace. Quiven will then do the usual checks on the door to the north of us. If nothing of interest is found in that room Quiven will then head to the door with the red arrow and peek into that hallway to see if any other critters are roaming about.
| GM thunderspirit |
Carl tries to open the door, but finds it is locked.
Ander Jotum
|
Before going over, Ander casts a magic detecting spell and examines the wand and potions.
T10 for 20 on both.
"They are three potions of light healing and a wand of silent image.
Ander tries to unlock the door after checking for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Disable: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Wait a minute, try the keys. Ander says.
Beleg the Galtan
|
"I'll take one of the potions of healing if you don't mind. Quiven should get the sword; it's sized for him. We all know a prankster who would have loved that wand."
| GM thunderspirit |
Alas, poor Dink...
Ander's suggestion about the keys is an astute one; the door creaks open to reveal a flight of stairs going down.
| GM thunderspirit |
Was there a reason we didn't open the door next to Ander on the map?
The one diagonal from Ander? That's the outbuilding with the horse.
Beleg the Galtan
|
Looks like we still have quite a bit up here before we head down. Keep opening!
Quiven Glist
|
To the red arrow door then!
If nothing is currently happening in that big courtyard Quiven will move to the door. He'll look to see if he sees another open door that might tell him where the goblins came from. If none are open, he'll check the door closest to him and if its safe, open the door once everyone is with the halfling.
| GM thunderspirit |
When Quiven goes through the courtyard and the door, he finds the set of double doors on the other side open wide. Through the short, broad hallway beyond, Quiven can see another set opening beyond.
Quiven Glist
|
Looks like they came from this way. Quiven will try to sneak up to the next set of doors and take a look inside.
| GM thunderspirit |
This large room appears to be a throne room. It is decorated with hanging furs along its walls, mostly black-and-red striped firepelt skins, various dog pelts, and in some cases what look like horse hides. Four square timbers support the ceiling, their faces studded with dozens of iron spikes, with the lower reaches decorated with dozens of impaled and severed hands in various states of decay. In the northeast corner, a wooden platform supports an oversized (for goblins) chair heaped with more pelts and hides. Dog skulls adorn the armrests and a horse skull leers over the throne's back.
There are two doors along the east wall and one on the north wall.
Quiven Glist
|
A room fit for a king... if your a goblin! Quiven will slowly walk in and take a look around for any more goblins, dogs, or whatever else that could lurk in such a place. If its clear, he'll go to the far north door and do his thing before opening it.
If Perception is needed feel free to roll it.
| GM thunderspirit |
There are a number of macabre (to non-goblin) remnants of people and things throughout the throne room, but nothing of particular value.
The door to the north is locked, but the party quickly locates the correct key on the ring.
Inside, you can see several rugs made from dog or horse hide lie strewn on the dirt floor of this room. Against the north wall stands an impressive collection of horseshoes, each nailed to the wall. To the east sits a ragged, padded chair next to a rickety desk that may have once been an expensive antique.
In the northwest corner sits a canopied bed covered with silk sheets and sporting an elaborately carved headboard that features nymphs and satyrs cavorting in a forest. The bed's sheets are stained with dirt, while the headboard is bashed and battered.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven will go inside and carefully search the room for hidden stuff, noting areas that anyone's Detect Magic might indicate something useful.
| GM thunderspirit |
Ander detects no magic in the room.
A thorough search from Quiven finds a small metal piece underneath a pillow on the bed, and a rusty key that Quiven thinks looks like it would fit in the chest found behind the cesspit.
Maddie Sykes
|
"Truly, a depraved race of creatures." Maddie opines as she takes in the decor.
Knowledge (Religion) on piece of metal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
| GM thunderspirit |
This is unquestionably a(n) (un)holy symbol of Lamashtu.
You also know this.
Maddie Sykes
|
"It's a religious symbol of Lamashtu" The Cleric explains as she examines the piece of metal Quiven found, "The goddess of madness and monsters. Unsurprisingly, goblins revere her the most over the other gods. There are four lesser goblin gods that serve her."
After a moment she adds, "Under a pillow is an unusual place to find this."
Beleg the Galtan
|
Beleg joins the door-opening party.
