Map Updated

The room to the northeast has stonework suggesting a dwarven architect, but the floor and walls display carvings of Tien design. Carvings of a swimming carp cover the western wall, the eastern wall depicts a katana over the sun, and the northern wall shows a carved mural of two elven women in Minkai dress standing before a funerary pyre. The floor boasts carvings of some kind of long serpent-like reptilian beast.

Religion DC 12:

The carp is the sacred animal of Shizuru, and the katana over the sun is Shizuru's holy symbol.

Arcane DC 18:

The serpent-like creature carved in the floor is actually an imperial sky dragon

There is obviously no traps. Or is there?

As the shadows shift and change as you walk through the room, the light the shadows seem to reach out with arm-like appendages that seem to swipe and then disappear back into the pillars. One of the pillars swipes at Lucita, and she can feel a cold energy going through her. It would almost be comforting except she realizes it is sapping her strength, not strengthening her lifeforce. Barl also sees an appendage reach out, but it seems to swipe a second too late as he walks by, and it has nothing but air to target.

religion dc13:
This is no trap. The creatures are shadows, incorporeal undead who drain the strength of those they touch, creating more of their own kind in the process.

Shadows can fly, and tend to have a preference for turning worshipers of good aligned deities into more of their kind.

Dhampir:
Since Lucita is a Dhampir, she reacts like Undead to Neg'/Pos' Energy (Neg' Energy heals her) ; and I believe the Shadow's STR dam' is a Negative Energy effect, thus Lucita would be spared this loss (sorry I am wrong).

This comforting touch... suddenly reminds Lucita of what she feels as her stain, the fact her mother was a toy-slave to the Vampire Lord.
But, once again, this curse given her by her Vampiric father, saves her, since her lifeforce is close to that of the Undead, and the similarity of energies block this dark tendril from sapping her strength.

One shadow swipes blindly where Lucita was previously standing, but fails to hit anything. Lucita counters stabbing it with her longspear, but the spear passes right through the creature's arm without it seeming to notice. Grag's strike at the arm seems to be more effective leaving a trail of shadow behind as it swipes through the creature. Having missed previously, the second shadow steps out of its pillar and attacks Barl, sapping his strength.

You totally missed the part about what chill touch does to undead. If it fails a DC 15 Will save, it will be pushed into an undead version of 'panic' for (in this case) 5 rounds. I'll wait to see what comes of that before I post this round's action.

Raynor casts detect evil in the room ahead.

Liberty's Edge

A charred orc corpse is hanging over a pool of redish black liquid (blood?). The pool, the corpse, and the accompanied shrine at the top of the stairs across the room give this room a grizzly atmosphere. The ceiling in this room is 20 feet high (double the height of previous rooms and passages), and there seem to be the remains of a number of bloodlessing and torture implements scattered around the altar.

religion 10:
Although most of the markings and symbols have been scratched, chipped, or crushed away, this looks to have long ago been a shrine dedicated to Torag. It seems to have been rededicated.

religion 15:
The new crudely carved symbols indicate this has more recently been used as a shrine to Nulgreth, the orc god of bloodlust and fighting.

Lucita is very sure the substance in the pool is mostly, if not all blood. It took a lot to fill that area, and it isn't fresh.

Lucita frowns: "Do you think those Shades we battled were fallen Dwarves, made restless and lost by this Evil Orc magic?".
Lucita enters the room, moving along the wall, peering into this ancient pool of blood.
"Wise Pendergast, know you if this is usual Orc rituals of Nulgreth, and what they aim to do with such blood-sacrifices?".

Thanks GM Thrawn -based on this new info I will undo my last move and convey the info to the party instead.

"Pathfinders! the foul pool of blood and altar both ooze with evil! arm yourselves and be ready!"

Liberty's Edge

Barl with your huge religion roll you know...
Blood sacrifices would be a normal practice for Nulgreth followers
Worshippers believe slaughter is it's own end, not means to an end
Nulgreth is actually opposed by Lanishra the orc god of slavery, because Lanishra believes Nulgreth and his followers waste potential slaves by brutally slaughtering everyone and everything.
You also believe the shrine can be cleansed, but it would take time and positive magic.

Without spending significant time and spells such as concecrate (which I believe is beyond the current abilities of the party) the best that can be done right now is to destroy the altar to Nulgresh, to disable the evil magics from the room.
