Roland steps 5' west (or south per compass) and rapidly fires a pair of arrows at the dummy.
longbow, Pb, rapid, precise: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 21 damage : 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
longbow, Pb, rapid, precise: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 22 damage : 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
We do not have bardic song active right now as far as I could tell.
Itra Javek
|
Itra grunts and swings the side of her weapon at the dummy, knowing she doesn't have much chance of damaging it. "Maybe it's just acting normal, and if we aren't armed it won't attack us?" she wonders aloud.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Rikas Horgold
|
Rojas tumbles around to flank the dummy.
Tumble: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
He then tries to stab at a vital bit.
Stabby stab!: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
1d4 + 1 + 2d8 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (5, 8) = 17

Itra takes a swing at the dummy, but strikes nothing, but air!
Rikas easily tumbles past the training dummy, but his strike goes left when the dummy goes right!
Slam vs Rikas: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The dummy tries to slam into Rikas, but the nimble tiefling easily dodges the blow!
Party up!

Rikas chuckles. "We have been beating and battering all the help, I would be surprised if we were unexpected at this point." He retrieves the one dagger and continues on with the group. Looking at the dummy, he mutters, "Should have been easier to hit. Maybe I do need some more practice..."
Linnea Joculus
|
Linnea sheathes her rapier, but keeps her whip in her hand. "I agree, no point in giving whoever else is down here more time to prepare a welcoming party for us."
Ever onward!
| GM Tektite |
Itra leads the way to the door, opening it to reveal a large room. This room is nicely decorated and comfortably furnished, unlike the rest of the complex. Cushioned chairs create a comfortable sitting area, and a large tapestry depicting a battle of dozens of dervishes in a bright yellow sandy desert adds color to the room. The air is scented with cinnamon and trophy heads and animal skins decorate the floor and remaining walls.
Standing at rear of the room is a Vudran man, his fingers bedecked in gaudy rings, a tiger at his side. He points the fake scepter at the party as they enter. "Do not come any closer or I will not hesitate to use this!"
Linnea Joculus
|
Linnea nudges her way past Itra and stands in front of an easy chair on the east side of the room. She holds her coiled whip nonchalantly in her hand and addresses the man with the scepter.
"Listen, Zamir. The jig is up. That little stick your holding? Yeah, it's just a stick, a fake. Now," she takes a seat in the easy chair, "as you know, we have been sent by the Pathfinder Society - and I'd rather not have this end with any more bloodshed. By the way, I am sorry about your guards."
Linnea leans forward. "So, let's make a deal. You forget trying to impress the Aspis Consortium and join up with the Society. Think carefully, Mr. Zamir - we've killed your guards fairly easily - and don't think we'll hesitate to do the same to you."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Ouch. Some assists?
Itra Javek
|
That sounds more like Intimidate to me... :P
Itra nods and adds her own spin. "With that said, the Society wants to work with you... and we're authorized to... discuss a mutually beneficial agreement with you. We're also authorized to kill you... so take your pick."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Rikas Horgold
|
Aid Diplo: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14
"We've gone through a lot of trouble to find you. This is just a taste of what the Society goes through for those under its contr--- aid."
Itra Javek
|
"The Society has ways of making sure people hear about those who aid us... in a good way. The Aspis Consortium is only going to drag your reputation through the dirt."
Rikas Horgold
|
Dammit, lost it to a page refresh. Retyping...
Rikas plops on a chair in the corner. "We hear tell you're pretty influential already. Powerful, too. The Society likes having influential and powerful friends. Influential and powerful enemies? Not so much. So join us and keep on doin' what you're doin', you keep some profits, some fame, and your life. Keep goin' with these Aspis brats, well, then we'll just cut you down along with them. You and your little cat, too. And all that profit, all that fame goes to waste."
Rikas Horgold

My low Cha characters tend to be the ones that talk and talk but can't 'suade anyone. One doesn't even try, he just says it like he sees it. Guess Rikas is similar.
Linnea Joculus
|
"Listen, I know that the Society can have a reputation for being... well, being a little too uptight - but it's really a good gig!"
Linnea leans back in the chair. "But think of the connections you'll make - and I can't tell you how many of these Consortium clowns I've put in the grave. C'mon, the choice shouldn't be difficult."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Itra Javek
|
Itra shoots Rikas a grin, then extends her hand to Zamir. "Well-spoken. We can head back and let you meet with our Venture-Captain as soon as you're ready to leave."
| GM Tektite |
Zamir smiles and shakes Itra's hand. "A moment." He say as he moves over to desk, picking up a small box filled with components and a small bag of gold. He hands them to Itra. "A token of my intent to join the Society. The wizards in the other room can assemble the parts into an item of magic. The Society will value it."
Itra Javek
|
Itra accepts the box, studying it with interest and trying to imagine what the components could possibly be used for. As Zamir mentions the wizards, she looks up. "Er... the uhh... wizards... the ones who used to be chained to the tables, you mean?"
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Itra Javek
|
Itra looks over at Linnea and shrugs helplessly. I hope she tells him... I'm not sure how to break it to him that he can't be keeping people chained up like that if he's going to work with the Society...
Does Itra have any ideas on the uses of the components? :)
Roland Garros

"I am not sure zhis man is ready to be a Pathfinder. Chaining up people and zhen forcing zhem to work is not what we are about."
| GM Tektite |
The party escorts Zamir out of the old fort and back to Venture-Captain Mihir, where his is taken in to be debriefed. The Venture-Captain expresses her gratitude for handling the matter in a quick and efficient manner as she hands you a unique coin in appreciation. You hear later that Zamir becomes an agent of the Society in northern Jalmeray, helping Venture-Captain Mihir manage operations in Padiskar.
Thus concludes #33 Assault of the Kingdom Impossible.
I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.
Any interest in another one?

I have a level 1 sorcerer that I could bring in - I'm itching to get Linnea into some higher-tier adventures. I tried not to dominate - and I hope I didn't, as the high-level character.
