Itra Javek

"Hey!" calls Itra as she sees the men approaching from the south. "Stay back! Don't come any closer!"
She glances down at the bag to "accidentally" draw their attention to it, then jumps forward and holds her weapon ready. Ready to fight defensively if one of them comes in range.

Rikas throws a dagger, but the blade goes wide. He then easily tumbles past the bandit, coming up next to the furthest one.
Roland fires two shots, his first hitting and taking down another bandit! the second arrows misses.
Linnea cracks her whip and twirls it over here head. The two bandits near Rikas seem to cower from her display.
Itra yells at the bandits and readies herself.

Two bandits drop their bows and flank Rikas, attacking with handaxes. One lands a mighty blow on Rikas, but the tiefling is able to avoid a deeper wound! Your current AC is 22, Rikas?
Another fires an arrow, but misses a merchant, while another attacks Itra with an axe, but misses as well!
The bandit in the north continues to ransack the crates, trying to use them for cover from Roland's arrows.
The last bandit runs up and grabs Rikas' pack on the ground. Provoking

Rikas Horgold

Yes, sir. I apologize for not saying explicitly, but it was fighting defensively, and with 3 ranks, it boosts the AC defense to 22.
Rikas steps out of flank and readies an attack, motioning for Linnea to help him try to hit.

Roland continues to move 15' away from the pack and Itra...he looks back over his shoulder with uncertainty...
"Doing ok back zhere Itra?"
I sure hope she is ok back there...I worry the bandits will be alittle too successful if we are not careful.

Rikas readies an attack, which he then does after Linnea steps up. Stabbing the flanked bandit, the man goes down.
Linnea the lashes out and trips the other bandit!
Itra lashes out a bandit as he goes for the pack, but she misses. Following up with a swing at the other, she misses that man as well!

The merchants open fire once more. Two fire and take down the bandit to the southwest, while the other two fire and miss the bandit near Itra!
The bandit yells something in Vudran, grabbing the scepter, and withdraws from the melee. The other two quickly turn tail, withdrawing as well.
Out of Combat! Unless you want to pursue..
The merchants decide to secure their belongings and let the bandits go. As they go through their merchandise, the leader comes over to the party. "A thousand thanks. If it were not for you, we may not have been able to hold them off. Strangely, they did not take anything. What of you, did the bandits make off with anything?"
Rikas Horgold
|
Rikas follows after the bandits near him as they bolt, falling behind after a few meters. He returns to camp breathing heavily, a little too heavily, honestly, saying "Damn, those guys can hoof it!"
He's not winded at all, just putting on a little show, possibly a little too much.
Roland Garros
|
Roland will rejoin the group his hand pressing his arrow wound.
"We could give chase but are zhere any wounded here we need to attend to first? We may be able to garner some information from zhe foes we dropped here. Any merchants needing zhe cures? . " he starts digging for his cure wand from his pack.

Rikas goes to his pouch, confirms the scepter is gone, relays the information with a nod to his allies, and digs out his wand. "I am prepared this time! I cannot use it, but Linnea, if you would be so kind to help heal my wounds? Just say the word if my shirt gets in the way," he finishes with a wink.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds. Last PbP I was in, went the entirety of the scenario with a couple hit points because I forgot to purchase any restoratives...
Itra Javek
|
Am I reading correctly that we only downed one of them?
Itra grimaces as the men get away, then looks to Rikas "apologetically". "They got away," she says needlessly.
Linnea Joculus
|
"They got the scepter!?" Linnea declares incredulously. [/b]"Of all the things..."[/b]
She coils her whip and hooks it to her belt. She then takes the wand of cure light wounds from Rikas and gives him a few taps.
"I'll be gentle,' she assures the tiefling with a wink.
I'll let you roll the heals as necessary.
Rikas Horgold
|
"Thanks for the taps. Now how 'bout the wand?"
Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"Thanks much."
Huddling closer, he adds in hushed tones, "Should we take chase now or wait till morning?"
| GM Tektite |
Searching the downed men, the party finds that each carried a handaxe, leather armor, composite shortbow (Str +2) with 20 16 arrows.
"We could give chase but are zhere any wounded here we need to attend to first? We may be able to garner some information from zhe foes we dropped here. Any merchants needing zhe cures? . "
Are you wanting to try to talk to one of the bandits?
Roland Garros
|
Roland looks at the others on his team. Being the junior member, does not suggest a course of action.
"I am not skilled with zhe interrogation, but if zhe Captain Linnea or any of zhe others want to talk to zhe bandits no?
Otherwise, wait and zhen follow zhem? I am good with either of zhe actions."
He picks up his bow...and a few of the extra arrows. He will carry any of the bandit gear (bows/axes) that nobody else wants.
| GM Tektite |
There were five dropped.
After healing, gathering supplies, and repacking gear, the party makes ready to leave. The merchants thank the party for your aid and offer you a small pouch of coin for your troubles, then bid your farewell.
Following the wayfinder, the party travels about an hour before seeing a structure. Bushes and debris litter the nearby hillside with the remains of the outer walls of an ancient stone structure visible above the foliage and reaching a height of about fifteen feet. The shattered stone remains of a taller building are visible inside the walls.
You are still a little away off, so you can decide on the approach. The side of the map where your icons are located is the direction of your appraoch.
Itra Javek
|
We waited a few hours first, right?
Itra studies the approach to the building, a frown crossing over her face. "I wonder if they're keeping a watch..." she mutters.
Can she see if there's anyone on the walls or elsewhere watching this side?
Rikas Horgold
|
Rikas peers out into the distance to see if he can answer Itra's question.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 (Not taking into account distance)
Ninja'd while distracted, haha.
Itra Javek
|
"Hmm... I'd like to take those guards out to avoid the possibility of their seeing us, but I'm not the quietest person around. Perhaps they'll go look at something on the other side?" She seems dubious.
How far is the nearest cover from the walls?
Rikas Horgold
|
Rikas thinks of his odds. "I may be able to pull one of 'em off the rampart, but can't really hide just hanging from the sides. Maybe if two of you are sharp with a bow? Take my cue to plug the other two?"
He thinks some more. "Actually, there's also the trouble of actually getting up there. Doubt a grappling hook will go unnoticed."
Itra Javek
|
Itra shakes her head. "I'm decent with a bow, but I'm not sure I could down a man with one shot... maybe we'd better just try to sneak in without being noticed, and only attack if we're spotted?"
Roland Garros
|
Roland follows the discussion and agrees with Itra and Rikas direction.
"Aye, shooting from distance at zhe targets with zhe hard cover would be difficult at best. Stealth is preferred if we can manage. "
He starts looking for better spots for approach unseen or to shoot or cause a distraction.
survival : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Itra Javek
|
Itra looks dubious. "If I were on watch and you did that, I'd immediately be on the alert for an attack. Perhaps it's best if we just try to sneak up. I'll go first."
So saying, she fits an arrow to the string and begins sneaking forward behind the brush. Taking 10 for 10+10=20.
Linnea Joculus

Wow! I'm sorry I was out today - I missed a lot of stuff.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 10 = 32
Linnea listens carefully to the plan and follows behind Itra and Rikas, stepping as lightly as possible.

Linnea holds still and tries to watch the archers for any opportunities to pass unnoticed through the gap in the wall.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Essentially, trying to notice if these archers patrol back and forth on their respective walls.
| GM Tektite |
They each patrol their respective wall, though obviously one doesn't jump the gap, the other patrols it.
As Linnea peeks through the gap, timing the patrols on the men, she see a fourth man patrolling the rear wall.
Linnea thinks she can time it to pass through the gap unnoticed. Will require stealth rolls.
I'd say you don't yet see the ladder or the steps from where you are.
Itra Javek
|
Itra motions to the others, gesturing questioningly up the wall.
Does Itra think it would be difficult to climb the wall, either at the north-east (bottom-right) corner, or at the gap?
Linnea Joculus
|
Fair enough on the stairs and ladder.
Linnea Does her best to sneak through the gap in the wall, trying to step around the rubble to minimize sound. She sticks close to the wall, trying to use whatever shadows that are available to her advantage.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Errr...not so much.
Rikas Horgold

Rikas keeps his back against the wall and sidles behind Linnea, wincing as she stumbles on the rubble. "Bet you wish you had some invisibility magic right about now, eh?" he whispers over.
