Wymond rises from the floor. Heaving his greataxe up in the air, the paladin slams it down with a loud cry. The blade drives deep into the ancient emerald armor forged long ago in lost Azlant, reaving asunder the automaton's carapace and shattering the crystalline heart below. Clanky jerks, its makeshift wooden leg drumming briefly on the ancient emerald floor, then ceases, never to move again.

From the darkness there is squeak of fear.

'Great job Wymond, let's see if I can show us a few more.' Perfire attempts to appease the clear rage in his companion. The Halfling moves alongside the door and floats the torch in his hand into the darkness.

Mage hand the torch 15 feet straight east into the room for now.


Perfire sends the torch into the darkness. It moves at the pace of a strolling man, briefly illuminating a wizend goblin leaning on a staff of oak before moving on past and leaving him in darkness.

Although you can't see the goblin well, I've indicated his position on the map. He is, however, effectively invisible when not in the area of light.

From out of the darkness comes a goblin voice, answered by the closer goblin with a peremptory grunt.

Wymond gives an angry sigh as he finishes off Clanky and glares down the hall.

"AN' YER NEXT YA LITTLE BUGGERS!"

"Ha!Ha! That's the way, Wy! Put the fear into them!" Yirrik exclaims, watching as Perfire's torch moves into the other room.

"Right there! Bring it back!" Yirrik shouts as the wizened goblin is illuminated for a moment, before the light passes him on.

Thinking furiously, Yirrik seizes on a plan. Moving past Wymond, he grips the door fram so he can swing, and plants his feet on the remains of the automaton, pushing mightily so that it slides on Perfire's slippery floor....in the direction the wizened goblin was standing.

Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Then, now standing on the greased floor, he tries to stay standing up...

Reflex: 1d2 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

"This is why you don't waste your time with fancy tricks while you're fightin' for your life. On a floor like that, ya need solid footing!"

Seeing the magical automation go down, Zaia was momentarily relieved one significant opponent was out of the fight. Seeing her wounded allies, and knowing her healing magic was almost all gone for the day, she reached inside her pack and removed a flask of alchemist's fire and handed it to Perfire in front of her, "Use it when you can," she whispered to the Halfling Sorcerer.

She then laid her hand on his shoulder and began to cast, imbuing the Halfling with some of Desna's divine guidance.

Yirrik's gambit fails, leaving him prone in Perfire's grease spell. Meanwhile, Zaia equips Perfire with some lovely artillery.[/ooc]

The lone goblin in the semi-darkness in front of Yirrik lashes out with his diminutive falchion, slashing down at the fallen ranger. At the last second, Yirrik rolls aside and the goblin's blade strikes sparks off the ancient glass floor, inches from his head!

Wymond trundles down the hall over Yirrik's prone body to the goblin he can see, taking slow, careful steps to stay on his feet. It doesn't work, as Wymond slips on the greasy floor and lands on Yirrik.

Moving at half-speed to avoid slipping.

Perfire winces watching Wymond and Yirrik slip on his spell.

'Sorry sirs, I think I can remove that.' The sorcerer focuses his mind and attempts to will the grease spell. 'There, try again.'

Perfire steps back to retrieve a torch in his free hand.

Standard to dismiss, 5-foot, move to pick up.


Since neither Yirrik nor Wymond are helpless, Wymond can't fall in Yirrik's square. I've displaced him 5' to the right.

With a wave of his hand, Perfire's slippery fluid dries up, leaving only a thin yellow dust on the floor and the fallen.

With a sharp slap of a bowstring, another arrow flies out of the darkness and through the open doorway. It whizzes over Perfire's head and shatters harmlessly on the back wall. A goblin curses angrily in the gloom!

"Sorry, Yirrik..." he mutters in annoyance.

"That's ok, Wy. Think of it, this will make a hilarious story for our grandchildern...." Yirrik cheerfully replies from his postion on the floor, leaving unsaid the notion that they have to survive first.

He gathers himself and gets his feet under him and stands, drawing his sword and striking into the darkness nearby where he heard the goblin cursing...

As Yirrik rises, a goblin falchion sweeps out of the inky blackness before him. The ranger leaps back, avoiding the blow, then lunges forward, stamping his foot and slashing in quarte, but strikes only air.

With torch in her off hand, Zaia begins softly casting and takes a 5ft step forward. Crouching a little, she reaches around the doorway and touches Wymond's head as he lies prone on the stone ground.

Cast Guidance on Wymond: +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. Lasts 1 minute or until discharged.

The goblin shaman slices down with glee, slashing Wymond's neck. Dark blood wells and the paladin begins to choke on his own life. Triath squeals in shock and outrage.

Perfire steps back towards the doorway and the confident look quickly fades from his face after seeing Wymond's still form. 'Oh no...' His voice trails off.

The halfling tries to see the attacker in the dark and can only vaguely make out slight movement blocking the light of the torch inside the room. With a silent prayer to any god who will listen he hurl's the alchemist fire into the room.

Unbeknownst to his fellows, Wymond demonstrates that he is indeed Chosen by the gods. With the aid of Zaia's guidance, the bleeding stops and Wymond lays there, breathing shallowly.

In the meantime, Perfire hurls a flask of alchemist's fire into the room, illuminating two goblins. One, the heretofore unseen shaman, is splashed with the alchemist's fire and slightly singed. The other, an archer standing just beyond the alchemist's fire, shoots at Yirrik with a cackling laugh, but in his alarm at the sudden appearance of fire, misses badly.

Concerned for her companions while trying to conserve her healing magic was taking a toll on Zaia, especially now with Wymond down and unmoving. The goblins were relentless and she was only one person. Dropping her torch on the ground by her feet, Zaia stepped back 5ft and lifting her iron holy symbol drew Desna's divine power unto her and then released it out to all her stalwart companions, hoping to exclude an injured enemy.

Channel Energy with Selective Channelling: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (Excludes 1 enemy)

Her companions receive 6 hit points each from the channel. I believe since it's a 30ft radial burst from Zaia and she's directly inline with an open doorway that it reaches Wymond, too.

No more healing magic left for the day. Unfortunately people get hit a lot and consistently. :(


Waves of warm energy flow from Zaia's butterfly symbol, bringing ease and vigor back into your injured flesh and muscles. Wymond's eyes flutter open.

Yirrik feels the warm tingling of Zaia's healing wash over him, the arrow in his shoulder actually pushed out by the divine power of his faith.

"Ahhhhhh! Thank you, Zaia, my dear!" he cries out, his eye widening as Perfire's alchemist fire reveals the cursed goblin priest.

"There you are!" he cries, striking out with his sword...

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

At least the bad luck seems to be mostly universal.

Yirrik and the pint-sized shaman attack each other in a furious flurry of ringing blades. The big ranger's power is fully matched by the little goblin's mobility and madness.

'Wymond's looking better, keep it up everyone' Perfire says as he begins to whirl the leather weapon over his head.

Wymond groans as the healing saves his life, and he stands up and glowers at the goblin who nearly did him in.

"That's it! NOW I'm mad!"

He stomps up to the shaman engaged in fighting Yirrick and brings his axe down in an overhead swing.

Very risky. Standing up from prone provokes an Attack of Opportunity.

Wymond rises, ducks the goblin's attack and brings his axe down, crushing aside the shaman's guard and badly injuring the little pest, who shrieks in fear.

Zaia realised she was still clutching the iron butterfly even after her channelling had been completed and Wymond rose from the stone floor. She let it go flat against her chest.

Regaining her wits, she moved back to her previous place by the door (5ft), began to softly cast and then reached around the open door, and laid her hand on Yirrik's shoulder, imbuing him with some divine guidance.

Once she was done, she removed her sling and a bullet from her belt and held them in hand; her lit torch remaining on the ground by her feet for now.

I've had a hate-hate relationship with the Paizo die roller for some time. I feel your pain.

The alchemist's fire again burns the little shaman before going out.

Faced by two large and angry humans and with no more automata to defend him, the injured shaman attempts to flee. With a squeak of outrage, he turns and runs back into the darkness.

You may pick up and throw a torch. The goblins seemed to have fled south (left), given the shaman's initial movements and the sounds you can hear.

As he waits for his companions to gather their belongings and prepare to escape the Spire, Prefire feels the urge to encourage his friends.

'We'll go back to town, recover, and prepare to come back. We can only really fail in here if we don't learn from our mistakes... or die, that would be bad too.' the halfling shakes off the building diatribe 'Regardless, we felled that metal monster and I doubt they have more of those around. And we killed some troops they can't replace in a few days. We'll be ready next time, let's get out of here.' Perfire shares an earnest smile with those who took him in.
