Yirrik Roone
Yirrik winks at Perfire as he anticipates Yirrik's inital request before he makes it.
With sword and axe in hand, Yirrik cautiously descends ,keeping the torch aloft just ahead of him so he can see what comes.

You can see two shambling, worm-eaten goblins, their eyes filmed over, their flesh rotting. They turn and raise their arms to you, moaning hungrily and shambling forward.

Yirrik, go!

Wymond grimaces at the sight of the undead gobbos.
Just posting to show I'm paying attention. :P
Yirrik Roone
Huh...lost a post there...
Yirrik grimaces as the rotting goblins stagger into the torch light, "Hard to imagine uglier goblins that up top...but here we are..." he quips as he jumps to attack ...

Yirrik, don't forget to move your token on the map. I've done so for you this time. Further, Yirrik only gets one attack, since he is more than 5' from the nearest foe.
Yirrik moves forward, stabbing low at one zombie, but he has to dodge a clumsy blow, throwing off his own timing and the attack passes by the undead creature's midriff.
The clearly undead goblins shamble forward, battering at him with their long and filthy nails. The ranger easily parries their attacks.

Wymond, you take a -4 to hit because Perfire is providing soft cover to the goblin.
Ilya, you need to put your AC numbers on the class/level line.
Wymond's poleaxe lances past Perfire's side, wounding the clearly undead goblin. But the little thing is much tougher in death than in life and merely sways with the impact but keeps coming. Perfire swings a club at the monster, but it batters the club aside and reaches for the halfling when Yirrik steps in and cleaves its skull in twain with an axe.
The remaining zombie takes no notice of the demise of its fellow and reaches for Ilya, desiring to consume her flesh. It batters her thighs and waist with clumsy but powerful claws.

Got it. Sorry, GM! :)

Ah. So it is. That's a little confusing, but I can live with it.
Wymond and Ilya slice the goblin zombie in half between them!
COMBAT OVER!
So... except for the oppressive gloom and the dead goblins in the room, the murderous bugbear behind and the unknown ahead, this is the perfect resting spot. Continue downwards or take a rest?
Wymond Dwerryhouse
I vote rest so Wymond can offer Ilya a chance to try his famous Dwerryhouse family recipe oatmeal! ^.^
Perfire Ridal
'Perhaps it best we rest and recuperate before facing whatever Grulk is afraid of. Do you think we'll be safe here for the time being?' Perfire unshoulders his pack and begins searching the two goblins.
Ilya
"I'm not opposed to resting a while. It's best to be well prepared, when delving into the unknown."
She takes a look at the various scratches and bruises the party has picked up, not to mention her own smarting midsection. Deciding they probably need it, she opens the conduit to her deity, and allows healing energy to wash over them.
Channel energy, 1 use: 1d6 ⇒ 5
That should take care of our hp damage. I'd still like to rest,
just to get spells back.
Yirrik Roone
Yirrik levers his axe back and forth until it comes free of the newly re-dead goblin's skull.
He gives the corpse a swift kick, sending it further down the stairs out of the light.
Hmm, yes indeed. A rest would help us all I think." he says, taking a seat on one of the stairs. "I'll take first watch, make sure none of these dead goblins disturb us."
Ilya
After coming awake, Ilya spends some time in quiet contemplation. To all appearances, she's simply kneeling with her head bowed and eyes closed.
Any of the rest of you looking closely will note that her lips are moving slightly, as if she's reciting something under her breath.
Finally, she rises from her knees, ready to face the day.
I prepare the same spells as yesterday, with an addition of a Divine Favor and Detect Magic.
Perfire Ridal
Perfire stretches himself awake and smiles into the darkness. 'I feel like today is going to be a much better day, everyone.' He says as he begins packing up his bedroll.
Wymond Dwerryhouse
Wymond cricks his neck as he stretches and yawns. Then he busies himself getting a breakfast going for the group: the famous Dwerryhouse family recipe oatmeal, with honey and diced apples! Before long, he's serving up hot bowls of the stuff to everyone in the group, even Triath.
Wymond Dwerryhouse
"Pigs can eat the same things people do, and besides, the honey's well blended with the oats."
Wymond pats Triath's flank and the pig gives an appreciative grunt. Then he stands up and shoulders his gear.
"Yes we shall. Lead the way, Yirrik!"
Perfire Ridal
Perfire pats his belly happily and falls in at Wymond's side, ready to venture deeper into the Spire.
'Thanks again for cooking Wymond. I'm not much good at food, now chemicals I can do. They don't taste very good, though.'
Wymond Dwerryhouse
"No trouble at all, Perry! Glad you like it. We survive this dungeon business, you'll all be welcome to share a meal at the Dwerryhouse homestead! You think I'M good, wait till you try my sister-in-law's cooking!"
Yirrik Roone
Yirrik squares his shoulders, draws sword and axe and motions for Perfire to light the way ahead.
Stepping over the bodies of the two goblin undead, he advances down the stairs, ensuring the floating torch stays just ahead of him.

The steep stair descends through solid bedrock for fifty feet before ending in a stone-lined room. A large stone door stands directly south of the stair, a small alcove lies to the east, and another door to the southeast is slightly ajar. An extinguished torch rests on the floor of the alcove.
This entire level is dimly lit by irregular, luminescent patches of greenish-white, furry mold.
Wymond Dwerryhouse
"Look! There's no more magic darkness! What a relief!" Wymond says.
Yirrik Roone
Yirrik nods and smiles, "It sure is , Wy. A bit dim , but these will do! " he says, gesturing to the splotches on the wall.
Then he notices the torch on the floor, "Seems someone was here before..." and begins to walk out to fetch the disarded torch, but stops when he notices the door to the southeast was slightly open.
Indicating to the others to be quiet, he moves to take up position buy the corner of the alcove and edges along the east wall to take a peek through the gap in the door.

Seeing the strange glowing patches of mold on the wall, Perfire returns the torch he was using to lead the party to his hand. 'I knew today would be better.'
Curious about the mold on the wall, he reaches out with his will and attempts to pull a small amount of the mold from the wall. He slowly floats it over to himself carefully watching for any reaction.
trying to pry a little off with mage hand and examine it.
No knowledge skills so some really rudimentary experimentation.
Wymond Dwerryhouse
Wymond stows his bardiche and pulls out a torch, lighting it and then holds it up as he draws his sword.
"Until we get more magical light and stuff, I'll probably need to hang onto a torch, though. This moss is nice, but torchlight'll make exploring this place easier. At least easier than tossing around torches on the floor like we did upstairs."
Yirrik Roone
Yirrik looks to the others and says softly, "A wide hallway...."
He then gently pushes or pulls the door open a bit further, craning his head around to get a better look...
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

'Seems harmless...' Perfire mutters to himself. He approaches the wall and scrapes off a small amount of the mold and stows it in his belt pouch.

Wymond gingerly steps into the room, torch held high. Triath trots after him, standing by Ilya. Both look around the room for anything suspicious.

Wymond and Triath join Ilya at the door.
"Want me to open it, or you want Yirrik to check for...traps, or something? I don't wanna get buried under a collapsed ceiling again."
Perfire Ridal
Satisfied with the sample he's gathered, Perfire notices his friends have moved into the hallway. He hustles after them, watching over his shoulder for enemies lurking in the dark.
'Quiet down here so far.' Perfire says more to himself than to anyone else.
Yirrik Roone
Yirrik follows the others into the hall, looking about, advancing slowly.
He's infront of the alcove when he hears Wymond's comment, smiling he says, "I'll take a look..."
