Perfire Ridal |
Perfire looks to his hesitant comrades, seeing indecision he decides to act 'I'll find them.' The halfling whispers with as much confidence as he can muster.
Perfire steps boldly out in front of Wymond and Yirrick and the moves along the wall until it ends. He then draws upon his arcane talents to use the leading torch to sweep the darkness in front of his friends.
The intent is to move the torch map-south two squares or as far as it will go and then to the left or whatever direction looks the most open.
GM Tarondor |
Perfire uses mage hand to move one of his torches further into the room, revealing that from this curving room, doors lead east and west, and a passage leads south. A small table with four rickety chairs sits in the middle of the room. A pair of dice lies on the table amid cups and plates.
One of the two goblins stationed here has fallen asleep on his half-eaten plate of food. The other goblin passes the time by putting small pieces of food in her slumbering mate’s ears, creating a culinary work of art (by goblin standards).
The waking goblin smacks her partner and lunges for Perfire with a long, curved blade!
It's worth remembering that on this map, North is right. West is up.

Perfire Ridal |
Perfire steps forward, shaking as arcane energy wells up within him. He raises a single hand towards the recently revealed goblinoinds and a dazzling burst of color springs forth to envelop his enemies.
color spray, angled to hit both of the goblins, Will DC 15
Zaia Acayan |
Zaia, torch in her off hand, called quietly to Triath, and both moved up to stand behind Wymond and Yirrik. "You go first and we will follow and do what we can from behind," she said quietly to the paladin and ranger.
For now, Zaia will wait to see what happens. She will move forward, staying behind the males and then she will act if need be.
GM Tarondor |
What about the achemist fire Yirrick threw ,it would have gone right on top of the table... I think
Yirrik's alchemist's fire blossoms into roaring flames atop the rickety goblin table, illuminating the area around it!
Goblin male Will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Goblin female Will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
The sleeping goblin slumps back down, dangerously close to the burning table.
Wymond, Zaia, go!
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond bolts into the room, axe raised high to strike at one of the goblins, the alchemist's fire licking at his left boot.

Can you tell which one I'm going for? I can't tell the difference between them on the map. They're so smol.
Zaia Acayan |
Zaia takes a 5ft step to the door's threshold and throws her lit torch before her into the chamber with Perfire and Wymond to provide them with more light against the goblins. She draws her sling from her belt and laying her other hand on Yirrik, imbues the ranger with a bit of Desna's luck.

The torch in Perfire's hand lifts and moves towards the sounds in the darkness 15 feet diagonally, basically 10 feet east of Yirrik. He lets the torch settle to the ground and steps back to pick up the torch behind Wymond and himself.
I'll let you move the torch and reveal the map GM. I don't think I've gotten this much tactical use out of mage hand ever
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"Get back here, ya pansy!" Wymond calls as he clomps after the goblin, preparing to take a strike at her.
Can I attack the goblin when I reach her? I'm not charging this time.

Yirrik Roone |
When the female goblin is revealed in the next room, Yirrik snatches a hand axe from his belt and raises it to throw, but Wymond gets in the way.
"Ah, Wy, your big head is in the way!!!" Yirrik mutters, then snatches up the torch on the ground nearby and runs up behind Wymond.
He throws the torch over Wymond's head into the darkness beyond the female goblin.
Torch and my icon moved....
Zaia Acayan |
Seeing the torches left behind, Zaia picks up both and quietly calls to Triath, "Let's get closer to the others. We can't afford to be left behind."
She moves 10ft to stand beside Perfire (Triath moves 10 ft and stands behind Zaia) and tosses one of the torches down by the opening on her right hand side. Holding her torch and the sling in her off hand, Zaia touches Perfire's shoulder, imbuing the Halfling with a bit of Desna's luck.
She keeps eyes and ears open for signs of danger coming from the tunnel to her right side.

Let's make sure our tokens remain centered in squares, please. And torches, for the GM's sanity, should be on vertexes between squares where possible.

The little goblin stabs at Wymond's vitals and the big paladin dodges out of the way. The goblin attempts to use the distraction to run into the darkness, but Wymond's backstroke injures her badly. She limps off into the darkness of the north (right).
About this time, the alchemist's fire gutters and goes out, leaving the dining room in darkness save for the close light of the torches, where the sound of goblins fighting continues.

Perfire Ridal |
Perfire slips past Yirrik and Wymond and again attempts to find the goblins in the darkness. He lifts the leading torch from the ground and directs it north, keeping his eyes peeled for the creatures.
'There can't be too many more? Right?' Perfire says, ready to duck a salvo of arrows at any moment.
Intend to move the torch I'd floated ahead earlier 15 feet to the north. If it comes across a wall, I'll direct it south. Leavin' the revealin' up to you.
Active Effects: bit of luck
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Can I reach the goblins and attack one on this round? I'm not sure from the map where the door to the next room is.
Triath scrambles up to reunite with Wymond in the room.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Thank you for the clarification!
Wymond clomps over to the goblins and brings his axe down on the first one he reaches.

Perfire Ridal |
'Do you need more light? Give me a moment!' Perfire calls forward seeing his allies struggle in the dimness of the spire.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"BLAST AND BUGGER!" Wymond curses upon seeing Yirrick sharing his struggle.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
I don't even HAVE a sword!
Zaia Acayan |
Seeing the others move deeper into the ruins, Zaia bent down to pick up the torch on the ground and carrying both torches in addition to the sling in her hands, Zaia moved cautiously forward to stand behind Perfire.
"What's happening?", she whispered to Perfire.

When you move your tokens on the map, use the "Order" function to keep from sliding under the obscuring "fog of war". Right-Click on your token to bring up the menu. Select "Order" -> "Bring to Front". Also, try to keep your tokens within a single map square.

Anyone, go!
Perfire Ridal |
Perfire takes a deep breath before once again drawing on the power within him. He focuses his mind on the three goblins fighting his friends. He then attempts to transfer his own fatigue into the goblins. SLEEP! his mind screams and the air around the goblins flashes briefly as the halfling's will is exerted on the physical world.
sleep Positioned just behind the middle goblin. DC 15 will.
Yirrik Roone |
Yirrik hisses as the clever goblin cuts him with his wicked knife, and watches with amazement as the three goblins fall asleep in front of him.
He looks at the others, "Quickly now, dispatch them!"
His sword held resolute he approaches one of the sleeping goblins...
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond roars in anger at the goblin's cut. As Perfire's magic does it work and Yirrik shouts to finish the job, Wymond frowns. A good Riverman didn't stab someone in the back. He briefly looks to Triath, uncertainty on his face. The pig nods, and Wymond nods back. Frown still on his face, he raises his axe to make it quick.
Coup de Grace?
Zaia Acayan |
No longer hearing the shrieking coming from the goblins in the other chamber and now listening to the loud snoring instead, Zaia took a 5ft step closer to stand beside Perfire. She heard Yirrik say to quickly dispatch the goblins and she looked to Perfire. "As a healer, I cannot do such a thing. Will you help Wymond and Yirrik run through the sleeping goblins?"
She called out quietly to Wymond and Yirrik, "Once you are done and if you require healing, please come to me and I shall do what I can in Desna's name." She tossed one of the lit torches inside the dim lit chamber to help them see better/further.
Once the three goblins are dispatched (once the light shows the invisible one also), Zaia will channel energy to heal Wymond and Yirrik.
Channel Positive Energy to heal her allies with selective channelling: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Yirrik and Wymond will get 5 hp back. This brings Wymond back up to full hp and Yirrik at 11/13 HP.
"My healing magic is almost spent for the day. We need to find a safe place to rest and hide for the night," she whispered to her companions.
One more use of channel energy this day and no more CLW spells left this day. Guys, we're running out of healing magic quickly ... We may need to find a safe place to spend the night and rest up ...Shrugs.
Perfire Ridal |
Perfire breathes heavily and slumps for a moment. Zaia's words stir the halfling back to the task at hand. He stares at her for a moment and then sighs deeply. He nods to her silently and moves towards the slumbering goblin. He draws his club and raises it hesitantly. He looks back towards Zaia for encouragement before bringing the gnarled wooden implement down on the helpless creature.
Perfire Ridal |
Slightly shaken from executing the goblin, Perfire turns from his fallen enemy and moves to the Eastern door. He gestures to the torch in the northern doorway and it floats to his free hand.
'We could probably hole up in here and rest if we block both of these doors. Though if there's any more goblins about, they'll be out for blood now.' Perfire says tiredly, still not fully recovered from casting his last spell.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond nods
"S'a good idea, Perfire. An' we got plenty o' rubble to choose from...An' if we block both doors, they can't double back to ambush us from the backside."
He waits for Perfire's instruction to start moving debris to block the doors.
Zaia Acayan |
He draws his club and raises it hesitantly. He looks back towards Zaia for encouragement before bringing the gnarled wooden implement down on the helpless creature.
Zaia did not turn her eyes away and with her gaze supported Perfire as he undertook the terrible task.
Slightly shaken from executing the goblin, Perfire turns from his fallen enemy and moves to the Eastern door.
Before he moved away, Zaia took a moment to have a quiet word with the Halfling, "Thank you for undertaking the killing. I can see how hard it was on you and I ask for forgiveness for I could not do it."
"We could probably hole up in here and rest if we block both of these doors. Though if there's any more goblins about, they'll be out for blood now." Perfire says tiredly...
Hearing Wymond agree to the plan, Zaia nodded too. "Yes, that sounds like a reasonable resting place. Wymond, would you like some help stacking up the rubble against the doors?"
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond nods with a smile.
"Aye, that I would. Workin' the fields has given me a strong back, but all the strength in the world's nothin' without leverage, an' fer that ye need two."
Zaia Acayan |
"Alright, then. Better get started lest the other goblins come upon us sooner than we anticipated," Zaia whispered, setting her torch down upon the ground before rolling up her sleeves and setting to work beside Wymond.

Perfire Ridal |
Before he moved away, Zaia took a moment to have a quiet word with the Halfling, "Thank you for undertaking the killing. I can see how hard it was on you and I ask for forgiveness for I could not do it."
Perfire forces a smile, though his eyes remain saddened. 'It had to be done. They've proven they're not interested in letting us through.'
Perfire watches Wymond and Zaia carrying rubble for a moment before deciding he would only get in the way trying to help. He leaves the room to collect their slain enemies. Once he has collected all the dead goblins he can find Perfire searches them for anything that may be useful before dragging the bodies to the northern wall. The Halfling arranges the goblins lying next to each other and then carefully stacks smaller stones that don't appear useful for barricade duty around the goblins in a makeshift cairn.
After both his and his companions' tasks are complete he tugs on Zaia's sleeve. 'Doesn't feel right not giving them at least some kind of final rights. I'm not very familiar with gods and all that, aside from' he looks side to side in the dark room and lowers his voice to a whisper 'Asmodeus. Do you think you could say something over their bodies?'
Yirrik Roone |
Yirrik dispatches his goblin, a grimace on his face at the distastful but necessary act.
He helps Perfire drag the bodies over to the north, moving a few pieces of rubble closer so the halfling can cover them.
He's not interested in securing the beasties' conduct into Goblin heaven, so he helps Wymond and Zaia pile debris in front of the doors. Before hand, thought, he takes an iron spike and hammers it into the wall to prevent the door from opening, or at least make it more difficult.
