Kawrock nervously clicks his tongue twice, "Anyone see it yet? It appears to have the ability to throw things while remaining invisable."

Kawrock will continue to wait to find it's location and will cast faerie fire when he does.

Norna's burst of holy energy actually shows an outline of the poltergeist for a moment, in the same spot it was seen earlier. A shriek echoes through the room.

The channel energy has let you pinpoint and confirm the square the poltergeist is in, but it still can't be targeted with faerie fire or whatnot.

All I needed was the square.

Norna's holy energy gives Kawrock the window he needed. Kawrock casts faerie fire causing the poltergeist to be outlined in dim green light. "Got him! Now take him out!"

.

Nicely done! The poltergeist is no longer invisible.

A clear outline of the poltergeist appears, showing it levitating a few inches above the floor.

Rustom misses the poltergeist and nearly swipes Arval's head clean off. He ducks just in time to dodge the swing and curses on Rustom.
"Watch out where you swing that stick of yours will you!"

The poltergeist is incorporeal. It cannot be harmed by physical weapons, and is resistant to magic which only does half damage. Force spells such as magic missile, and weapons with the 'ghost touch' brand will hit it for full damage.

On a cellphone so can't update the map, but the furnace room is the northeast corner with the crumbling wall. It was noticed from the outside.

.

The door to the furnace room collapses inwards in a cloud of dust. A huge stone furnace dominates this room, large enough for a child to climb inside. An ancient fire has burned away the entire east wall the room, providing a panoramic, if eerie, view of the lake beyond. That same lake has gradually expanded into the room, flooding its eastern half.

The crumbling stone would allow access to the outside, or even the lake. There is a door in the southeast of the furnace room, and the furnace itself lies in the south. A soot-caked copper plaque that says "Ember Maw" is above the furnace.

Despite two terrible throws, the furnace is an enormous, easy target. THe holy water vials splash into it, partially dousing the flames from the skull. However, another searing ray seems to be charging up.

Lena unscrews the top of her haunt siphon and a loud howling noise fills the room. Everything seems to be pulled towards the siphon; slowly, the edges of the flaming skull start to get sucked inwards. Soon, fire streams from the furnace towards her siphon.

The fire continues to stream from the fireplace, and soon the skull is gone. The howling stops and Lena slams the top back on top of the haunt siphon. The room is eerily quiet. Within the siphon strange mists swirl around the now-trapped flaming skull.

Lena now has a charged haunt siphon, which will do 1d6 negative energy damage if thrown.

Norna ponders the haunt in the bottle, wondering if the haunt can reform, or if the haunt will escape if the bottle is thrown.
I can't remember, offhand, what we found out about them.

Oh well.
"So, Eldon, do you think that the haunt can reform, or if the haunt will escape if the bottle is thrown?" Norna wonders out loud, not finding many answers in her own head. "Well, 'reform' in the sense of becoming a dangerous haunt again, not 'reform' as in changing its ways and turning to a productive and peaceful un-life."

Norna casts Detect Magic and searches the room. "I wonder if there is a way to solve this haunt, or the poltergeist; the straight jacket, manacles, and branding irons we just destroyed or removed, so that is probably that. We could ask the spirits through the planchette, but they are unreliable and it may take a long time -- with considerable risk, too."

Arval holds his position for the whole of the fight, in his defensive stance. He is simply stunned as the flames get sucked into the vial, he doesn't dare look back at what happened.
"Is... Is... Is it over?"
He slowly turns his head to look back at the group with wide terrified eyes, still holding his shield in front of him.
"What happened? I do not understand what just happened!"
