Ralph looks at the shattered Natalya with a modicum of surprise.
"From her appearance, I expected her to be at least a little resistant to the cold. Or at least tough enough to take more than just one more snowball. No matter. She will not bother us any longer."
"I fear he is just a little past a breath of life spell. I am able to cast the spell to raise Koraq myself, but I do not carry a valuable diamond with me at all times. I generally try to avoid the need to. I think we have more pressing concerns. Geatan, please take Koraq's body. Auris, perhaps you could search the woman for anything she has of value. A diamond in particular would be very useful. I'll see if I can get this thing working again. If I can't make sure you are standing next to me."
Ralph will turn his attention once more to the crystal to work out what caused it to go out, and whether it is repairable. What skill checks or spells are required?

![]() |

"You can do that Ralph? Are you a god?" says Géatan who try to uplift the atmosphere.
Géatan will take care of Koraq's body.

Bad GM, constantly rolling my AC on the dot is aggravating. :P
And I have the prestige to handle it. In fact, I have a boon to reduce the cost of the raise dead portion by 1/2 :P

![]() |

"If I were a god, I would not need the diamond. I did once have the power to raise the dead using my blood as a catalyst, but sadly Nethys has seen fit to seal that spell from mortals, perhaps to accentuate the distinction between the mortal and divine."
If blood money were still legal, I could raise you for free. Unfortunately I only had the chance to do give a free raise dead once before the spell was banned.
I can still use spell study to cast raise dead or restoration at the end of the scenario if we can get spell components. That should help lessen the costs of getting you back to full strength.

Natalya has:
2 wands
1 amulet
1 cloak
1 headband
1 ring
A MW blowgun (non-magical)
A MW quarterstaff (non-magical)
However, perhaps more ugently, you will still need to restart the engines.
It will take a kn: engineering, kn:arcana, or use magic decice check to do so.

![]() |

A few questions:
1. How many living people are there left of our ship?
2. How far is Adril's ship from us?
3. Is there some way to pilot this thing?

![]() |

The team hurries back up to the deck. They cannot see the two crewmen who had been left up to steer the ship.
Ralph estimates that at this point, Adril's ship is about 1000' ahead of them, and about 500' above.
You can definitely pilot the ship... something that would take a single person their round, assuming you figure out the controls (kn:Engineering or Use Magic Device).
You can also use the forward harpoons to try and damage Hestram's ship, but you think that they only have a range of 500'. Loading the harpoons is a full round action for two characters, and there are two harpoons. Firing is a normal ranged attack, and you are assumed to be proficient.

I asked Geatan to carry it since he probably has the highest strength among us.
knowledge engineering: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39
"This looks simple enough," Ralph comments as he looks at the controls over the halfling's head.
Is there a point to explaining the controls to someone else? Is there any advantage to having more than 1 person at the controls?

![]() |

Yes, there is a point to having multiples at the helm, as you are getting more advantage out of your working together. Each of you will get a roll, and will be able to close to Hestam's ship, faster.

![]() |

Ralph goes to the controls and stands beside Auris, re-calibrating the performance of the engine to maximize its speed.
"Don't worry about the harpoons! I just need us to get about 200ft closer, and for the two of you to stay close! Geatan, bring Koraq's body and stand near us!"
My dimension door range is 920ft. I calculate the actual distance between us and Adril's ship to be 1118.034ft. Assuming the ships are of similar models, gaining 200ft on Adril's ship will put us in range for me to dimension door us right onto the deck of his ship.

The team abandon's the ship, which was perfectly functional at the time. It is clear that it will be crashing soon...
Much to Géatan's surprise, the team ends up on the deck of Hestram's ship. What they didn't expect was for Adril's ship to go into a steep dive, quickly crashing into the desert below before they are able to react! (I know, but the power of plot)
The team gets their composure back after the crash, to notice that several of the crew are dead or dying, but also that Adril and several others are gone. The trail is easy to follow, and they quickly catch up to them. Four of Adril's guards are with him, banged up, but apparently uninjured. He is also dragging the princess with, in chains, and apparently badly injured.
