Each or total ?
Just so that I know how much I will be storing, and how much I can be spending.
Heinrick Stonewright
I guess I will have make some more holy water by boiling the hell out of normal water. :)
But on a serious note, I think we are going to have to find some more holy water.

Go ahead.
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Been highly distracted and this game seems to be one that really falls by the wayside when that happens.
Iolana Torlinni
I hate to say it but I think I will be dropping from this game. I've had troubles staying motivated to post in it, not for lack of effort on everyone's part, and am much busier now. Also it looks like this will be the next AP my local group tackles after Legacy of Fire is finished.
I've enjoyed playing with all of you and wish you good luck in your efforts to thwart the machinations of the Abyss.

Things should level out for me after this week. The last full project upgrade for me is getting done. After that it's mostly maintenance and clean up projects, which don't have as tight a deadline. The other thing that's been eating up time is this:
https://twitch.tv/42lounge
I'm GMing a livecast game on Mondays, so there's been a LOT of set up and marketing going into that as well. Now that we've got a few under our belts, that is also leveling off. Stick a two year old into the mix and you can see why I've been nuts. The show is on Mondays 7pm-11pm(ish) US Central Time. We actually have the chat do some gambling, and be able to use winnings to give inspiration to the characters. Tune in if you can, and mention this game and I'll have our moderator hand out some extra "coin" for you. :D

GM Shathira, if you have no objection I'd like to switch Lavinia's favored enemy from human to undead; I just think it makes more sense given her people's historical enmity. Also I don't know that there's a ton of humans wandering around the Rimethirst mountains giving them trouble.

Assuming that the wand is divine powered. If not, I will pass on it...
Unless there was an earlier house ruling on this that I missed, as spell trigger activation items wands aren't specifically arcane or divine; as long as you have identified what spell the wand casts and that spell is on your class's spell list, you can use it.
Heinrick Stonewright
don't have the books with me at work, but I was under the impression that something like a wand, or staff, was arcane or divine.
Mind you, I have played all the earlier editions, so I might be confusing things from there. :)
Heinrick Stonewright
Alright, I did get the chance to check.
I was in error, and there is no separation. just as Lavinia mentioned.
Does anyone mind if I grab the wand then ??

...Does anyone mind if I grab the wand then ??
Certainly not me!

I will be traveling from tomorrow night through Sunday night and am unlikely to post during this time; please bot me as needed.

Just to give you guys an idea, I'm not letting this drop for any reason. I REALLY like this group, and fully intend on seeing it through to the last book. I usually do my posting from work, and it's been extremely busy for the last three months especially. I'm trying to make a point of posting early in the morning, but lately I've been getting jumped by our folks in India as soon as I walk in the door. If you bear with me over this rough patch, it should level out soon. (I hope). I just wanted to let you all know that I am committed to this, but it may be a bit spotty for a while.

I tough PbP campaigns out to the end; it's hard enough just getting accepted into one!
How interested are you other players in RP back-and-forth? We can certainly fill time with in-character discussion if enough of us (ie one or more of you in addition to myself) are up for it. The character of Lavinia generally prefers quick decisions, but I enjoy playing, so I'm more than willing to dither about with roleplaying through Shathira's RL slow spots.
My only immediate concern is the assault on the garrison; I know that crawling through round-by-round PbP exploration and combat at one or two posts a week can often be soul-crushing. Would we as a group prefer to delay (either through RP or just plain waiting) until things can move at a quicker pace, or soldier on into the fray?
Heinrick Stonewright
I usually don't mind a little back and forth RP in the slow times.
I also will stay to the end, as I have had several die out from under me. :(
I don't have an issue with slow posting due to work, as I have work issues as well. I do appreciate that heads up that there might be a slow patch. :)

I'm in it for the long haul as well, so IDM.
I'm a little worried about the garrison though. Not only does it make things hard if its a straight crawl, but I'm a little concerned about resource management. I don't have second level spells yet and I only have three 1st level spell uses today before I need to rest and regain my spells. I'm a little worried about the strength as to what is inside if we just faced the door guards just now.
Heinrick Stonewright
I agree that the garrison will be a challenge.
We just have to conserve what we can, when we can.
I am hoping to minimize the use of my spells during the garrison as well.
Lavinia Snowbeard
For the garrison assault, I think we should attempt stealth for as long as possible - have Lavinia creep up to unlock the main doors with either a key (if we find one) or the chime of opening, then have the rest of the party sprint up as fast as possible to minimize exposure. Once inside, the element of surprise will probably only last to the first group of enemies we encounter - maybe the second, if we get lucky and manage to wipe out the first group with an alpha strike.
Once the gig is up, we move as quick as possible to try and find the stone, with Bollwerk and Irabeth taking point, followed by ranged support from Lavinia (she's got Precise Shot, and a high enough ranged attack bonus that a cover penalty isn't disastrous) and spell support from Ashnah if absolutely necessary, with Heinrick serving as rearguard.
GM Shathira: Is Irabeth a melee combatant? Also, is she the only additional manpower we have? I'm not sure if this bit regarding offered help - "...If you'll have me, I'll join you on your attack." Irabeth then smiles and turns towards a few others around the group that has slowly been gathering around them. "I think there are a few others that would offer help as well." - just refers to the equipment that was given to us, or if more people came with us as well.
Depending on the answers to the above questions, I suggest we either try and bottleneck opponents in hallways, doorways, etc to minimize our exposure to attack (if we just have Irabeth) or try to surround enemies (if we have Irabeth + some). If we have 3 or more extra folks with us, we can even leave them behind to keep annoying enemies engaged while we move on, or to hold a strategic point if we find one, like a door or stairway that seems likely to be the only point of entry/egress to the next level up or down.
To conserve resources I would vote against a "clear every room" approach until after we find and destroy the stone, which I assume will be heavily guarded. Once that's done we could mop up the rest of the building on our way out if it seemed feasible.
Heinrick Stonewright
pretty sound tactics.
but the 1 major problem with nuke and bypass is the hostiles that may be left behind.
i agree not all fights are going to need resourses, but i would rather not be facing a big bad ugly person and they get friends that run right up our backs.
other than that, i agree with the order and general plan. But just remember, no plan ever survives contact with the enemy.
GM Shathira
Keep in mind that Irabeth also indicated that she didn't think the Garrison would be taken out in one pass. The Guerilla skirmishes are intended to minimize the reinforcements that can be mustered. Before Heinrich wound up being the lone survivor from the group, they were almost 4th, so you will probably hit 4th sometime during the Garrison crawl.
I'll do my best to keep posting every day, especially during the crawl.
Ashnah Lialda
Kinda agree with the base plan here but also with Heinrick's points.
Not clearing every room risks a flank which, at our current level, is probably significantly worrying. I would prefer that IF we skip rooms, that we at least clear an escape route (ie clearing rooms in a T fashion) to minimize being flanked.
That said, even though I think clearing every room is risky as hell and a drain of resources, not clearing them, and waiting until later, risks losing xp if (say) they all fled after we destroy the stone. I kinda want to avoid a situation where we "win" by breaking the stone but then "lose" but being underleveled in future. Still, if we level up based on when the AP expects us to, then I dont really mind how we clear rooms.
Also, while I agree with the formation Lavina mentioned, I'd prefer that we space ourselves out if we do so. Bottlenecking is really good, but I want to avoid us getting AOE'd in a corridor.
Also I'm ready to push on into Garrison if everyone else is ready + willing.

Keep in mind that Irabeth also indicated that she didn't think the Garrison would be taken out in one pass. The Guerilla skirmishes are intended to minimize the reinforcements that can be mustered.
I didn't catch this point; if our intent is a 2+ stage siege of the garrison, resources become a little less of a concern, and a more fastidious search of the building looks more attractive.
