Correct on both Kimiya.
Benny takes a stab at the creature and attempts to interrupt whatever it is he is doing but the blue man proves to be a little more agile then he anticipates.
The blue creature squeezes his hand tight as he finishes whatever he is doing and suddenly everything goes black as if you had closed your eyes. The sounds still echo around you in the small room, but it is absolutely and unnaturally dark in the room.
Magical darkness is in affect now. All creatures gain total concealment (50% miss chance) in darkness. Creatures with darkvision can see in darkness without penalty. Nonmagical sources of light, such as torches and lanterns, do not increase the light level in an area of darkness. Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness.

Jeffrey takes a big step in the direction where he last saw the enemy when there still was light, and takes a swing with his warhammer.

I think we lost Ernust when the game slowed down a month ago. His last post was on the 9th of June.

GM ShadowLord |

I sent him a PM to see if he's still here. If there is no response by the morning then I'll just bot him in his absence. Hopefully he'll return, I want him to get credit for the scenario. I've seen people return from longer absences!
Jeffrey - Do you want to retcon your move after the dialogue from your teammates?
Benny - I think everyone is well aware of your opinion by now Benny. I apologize for a lack of communication, there was a culmination of a variety of personal items that kept me away from here. If you have a problem with that you can either take it up with me in a PM or drop from the game, but I'd prefer to not see the continued remarks posted here if you don't mind and let's move on.

I like my rolls, so I'll keep them and my previous actions. I'll likely withdraw to the doorway next turn.

GM ShadowLord |

Ernie does have darkvision, nice catch Watkins! I'll leave his action but amend the text.
Ernest peers into the room and whispers to Watkins, "There's a single pale creature in the dark room with our comrades. He's towards the rear of the room, they should be able to follow your command."
Alrathien makes his way out of the dark room, finding his party members waiting just outside of the building.
Benny holds position in the room while Jeffrey manages to locate the creature in the darkness and smash it with his warhammer. Jeffrey can't see the creature in the darkness but he definitely feels the impact of his weapon slamming into flesh followed by a yelp of pain.
Jeffrey wheels a whoosh of air as the creature attempts to attack him with something but misses.

"Friend Ernust, perhaps you can introduce teh creature to your hugging ways? Or merely knock him on the head until he stops confounding our sight with this magical darkness? There is little Alrathien can do against such magics at this time. Alrathien has been researching a spell that will counter such darkness, but alas all it can make it do at the moment is turn butter blue. Now that Alrathien comes to think on it, blue butter might actually be less useful than it first appears. Hmm..."

Kimiya raises an eyebrow as Alrathien goes on and on about his curious fascination with blue butter. His eyes begin to droop before recalling there's something dangerous in the darkened room. He shakes his shoulders briefly and calls out, "on my honor, I offer you this chance to surrender. No harm will come to you by my hand." His voice drops a little as he glances at Altratien and Watkins, "no lethal harm at the very least." He awaits a response while remaining ready in case anything attacks.

"Benny, you still in this room with me?" Jeffrey asks while trying to ignore Alrathien's rant.
"If you get out, I'll also move out and we'll close the door. We can just wait till the darkness subsides before we move back inside the room."

GM ShadowLord |

Ernust nods to Alrathien. He pokes his head around the corner and looks in.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 5
He sighs and says, "I can't see what he looks like from the from the other side. Kimiya, you mean well with your intentions but I think the time for patience has passed." A huge grin surfaces on his face and he says, "Since I don't know what he is I think I'll just smash him down with this instead."
The bloodrager holds up his earthbreaker, turns the corner and takes a few quick steps into the room swinging his weapon. He hits the creature so hard that the cracks of bones echo throughout Cassomir below. No howls of pain emerge from the broken body as it collapses to the ground.
The darkness does not immediately dissipate, but within a minute or so the spell dies and the lighting returns to normal in the room. Ernust looks at Benny and Jeffrey and asks if they are alright?
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Out of initiative.
A quick search of the body reveals leather armor, a short sword, repeating light crossbow with 10 poison bolts and 300 gp.
Ernest asks the group to inspect the door to the next room and when it is deemed safe it is opened.
In the next room with straw pallets are stacks and stacks of cages full of normal rats. On a small table next to those cages is a small, shiny black rat statue—the jet rat. This artifact gives off a moderate
transmutation aura when checked by the group. There is also evidence here—a ledger, as well as a large chest that contains 250 gp.
You free the slaves and slowly help them escape this horrific place. Though VC Hestia Themis congratulates you on a job well done by defeating the derros here and taking the jet rat--slowing the derros’ plans for the future--this does not solve the problem entirely. Kidnappings slow in the city (except for the Imperial Navy Yard, where they increase...), but continue to expand in the countryside around Cassomir. Rumors begin to circulate throughout the city that the derro menace has been stopped, but some whisper darker tidings, such as the recent spotting of a derro inside the walls of Swift Prison, a rumor the Taldan authorities heatedly deny.
*** END OF SCENARIO ***
CONGRATS! Please roll for day jobs if applicable!
