The little farie sees you off, flitting about, but since you are not injured cannot offer much other help.
Retracing your steps is a straight forward thing and little has changed except you note that the guards are no longer on the palisades. You are unchallenged back to the dinning area you had found earlier.
Once back you check the door to the north west (U9) and find that it is simply a bathroom. Two other rooms to the direction are also unoccupied.
U10. Servants’ Quarters
The door to this room is stuck shut. It hasn’t been opened in years, bu Gortrek manages to pull it open.
Filaments of white, fibrous mold grow all along the walls and across the bunk beds in this room, giving the room a foul, musty stink. Here and there, thicker mounds of fungus grow in nauseating colors. the mold is harmless
Within the mould you can see two mummified skeletons, most likely of former servants. Their head and limbs have been severed from the bodies.
U11. Servants’ Quarters
Several bunk beds lean precariously against the walls in this
cramped chamber.
Where too next?
I have labeled the doors with color for easier communication.

The rest of this level is clear, there are two rooms of note. The first is a library in a tower.
U17. Tower Library
The walls of this semicircular room are lined with bookshelves, although the majority of the books lie in disorganized piles on the floor. A large, filthy nest of grass, branches, and strips of cloth is tucked in the northeastern corner of the room, while a wooden door sits in the wall to the northwest and a flight of stairs leads down to the south.
The books are all aged and beyond saving.
The 2nd place of interest is an old storeroom.
U12: Storeroom
Although this storeroom may have once been well organized, the fallen crates and broken barrels that fill the room now present a tangle of debris.
With time to search you find a skeleton of a child pinned to the floor beneath a stack of old firewood and a heavy iron brazier. There are childlike, but good, charcoal drawings beside the body depicting what look like ninjas with throwing stars fighting bird headed men and lumbering magical ogers wielding axes. This is probably another window into what happened here.
Where to next? There were the stairs down.
Durian The Wanderer |
This drawing is certainly interesting. I suppose it's safe to say the ninjas lost the fight! I hope we don't run into these magical ogres with axes!
Durian is ready to move onward once everyone has gathered what they want. He has no use for any of the magical items, but is happy to have them in the party.
We've cleared out enough to cover our rear, now we should go see what evil lies in the basement....
Losjien Hallow |
"Agreed Durian and Miyagi...BUT this drawing is very interesting. Ninja's, Ogres and Axes. There is clearly a clue here"
Losjien kneels down and makes a copy of the drawing as best he can using the Ink he had found previously.
"We will want to share this with the caravan when we are back, Koya or Shalelu may have insight." He pauses.
"Before we go below I want to trace the picture of the castle hanging on the floor below us as well."
Gortrek the Honorable |
As Gortrek looked back in the direction of the stairs, it was taking every ounce of his discipline to not rush on ahead without the others.
"Before we go below I want to trace the picture of the castle hanging on the floor below us as well."
This proved to be the final straw.
"Excuse me, but you want to hold off on helping our companion so you can draw a picture? Ameiko lies sickened by forces beyond our understanding, and rather than search the final location it may be, you want to sketch a castle?"
Gortrek placed his hand on his sheathed blade. "I will not force you to act with honor if you do not wish it. But I refuse to wait any longer while danger hovers over our friends head. If you wish to stay behind, so beit, but those who wish to do honor to the Kaijitsu name, follow me!"
Regardless of whether or not anyone listened, he began to make his way towards the stairs down.
Tahata Moonrunner |
"What are ninjas?" Tahata asks, unfamiliar with the term, but before an answer is forthcoming Gortrek explodes in anger. It's clear that the half-orc cares deeply about his unwell friend, and that the anger comes from love.
He follows Gortrek towards the stairs with Maitoh trotting along beside him. Catching up to the half-orc he says "I have no doubt that Losjien cares deeply for Ameiko, but he has a curious spirit. We will help Ameiko first, and explore later."
Durian The Wanderer |
Durian just raises an eyebrow at the sudden outburst, not terribly surprised to see uncontrolled emotion coming from an orc (even a half-orc).
He shrugs and follows after Tahata.
Ninjas are assassins. quiet and deadly. Kind of like Miyagi if he didn't make so much noise" Durian says with a wink
Miyagi-san |
"What are ninjas?"
Ninjas are assassins. quiet and deadly. Kind of like Miyagi if he didn't make so much noise" Durian says with a wink
The monk chuckled heartily at the dwarf's joshing. not taking any of it personally. "Critical blow, Durian-san. Hope you saved some for our foes." He joked back while patting the dwarf on the shoulder before addressing Tahata's question while following Gortrek to the basement. "Ninja just fancy Tian term for 'Rouge with Ki', Tahata-san. Inflated stories make you think ninja wear all black, sneak around at dead of night, and slit target's throat. Truth is ninja look like anything they want and go where they please by any means. Ninja can be humble farmer, faithful butler, angry drunkard, anything to achieve goal. Still, better scout and sneak assassin than combatant."
GM Red Box |
Their are two places you can head down I chose this one as it is the first one you would come to moving downstairs.
After some, lets say... discussion, the party moves back to the first floor to the stairs leading below that they had found earlier. As you start down the stairs the air quickly grows damp and a small of old rot fills the air.
Those leading the party down stop when they see light coming from a room at the bottom of the stairs. Everyone can hear the sound of movement and hissing.
V1. Mess Hall (Pg. 53)
Long benches in various states of disrepair and several battered and filthy wooden tables stand between stone pillars in this room. The air here stinks of reptiles. Inside the room are five grey scaled humanoid creatures with long tails and ridges on their backs and heads. Two seem to be fighting over food and the others are watching. None of them have seen the party so you have the drop on them.

"Those of us who have traveled far still do not have answers. So seek knowledge before answeres...Now run along and dive headfirst into another giant spider web"
