Seeing the undead monstrosity step out from the other room, "Pardon!" The monk warned the dwarf in front of him, slipping past the brawler before trying to evade past his opponent, enter the room in which the threat emerged, and give it a taste of monk power.

Durian is startled by the creature that opens the door and swings way short.

AAAH! what is that thing?! that's no ogrekin!

Luckily Miyagi is quicker to react, and seeing the monk fly past in an impressive move snaps Durian out of it. He punches at the undead creature, then steps back to make way for his companions, holding his spear at the ready.

At Durian's shout, Kagyu moves quickly to to his defense but stops short when he sees the rotting weight. He slams the point of his shield against the ground and a pressure wave emenates from the shield's songbird emblem.

Tahata hears Miyagi's and Durian's shouts, as does Maitoh who's ears swivel quickly towards the sounds of combat. The narrow confines prevent either of them from approaching, however, so Tahata again begins to gather energy, drawing it from the stones and the air. He steps forward as he does so, ready to conjure a creature into the room.

Miyagi-san and Durian each land heavy blows on the wight. Durian hits the creature hard enough that it staggers back a step from the force. Kagyu rushes up and calls upon the power of his faith to bring the creatures second existence to a sudden end.

With the wight finally at rest the party can take a moment to examine the room he came from and search his body.

T19. Captain’s Quarters
Trophy displays for armor and weapons, along with a large bed, an ornate writing desk, and a leather chair, lie in shambles in this chamber, smashed to ruins. A thick layer of dust clings to everything in the room.

On the body the first item of note is a beautiful dragon helm.

Know HIstory DC20:

This helm would have been worn by Brinewalls comanding officer.

Also his sword is clearly well made and is quickly identified as a +1 Longsword with a matching scabbard.

Durian takes a moment to look at the fine helm and sword, but with no ability with a longsword and no knowledge of this helm he is quickly ready to move on.

U16. Haunted Guard Post
Judging from the blood and gouges marring the walls, a terrific battle once took place in this guard room. The two side rooms (areas U16a) were once armories, but these chambers now stand empty.

The only exit from this room is a set of double doors. There is no sign of activity beyond.

U8. Feasting Hall (pg. 42)
This chamber reeks of rotten food and bird droppings. A long dining table sits in the middle of the room, heaped with partially eaten animal carcasses and several thick eggshells. This room is clearly where the corbies feed but none are present at the moment.

Area U9 is a disgusting washroom.

There are multiple exits from this room.

The state of the upper floor is even more ghastly than the floor below. Tahata keeps his spear at the ready and Maitoh by his side as the group looks around. He moves carefully up to the door next to the stinking washroom and listens for sounds of activity.

With a new area and a million ways to go, the monk felt lost as to which way they should go. After thinking about it for a moment, he decided that the wisdom of his ancestors would choose for him. Covering his eyes, the monk turned in place for a few moments before stopping and facing...

Durian scratches his beard as he watches the monk dancing around the room for a bit. The monk seems confident, however so Durian shrugs his shoulders and follows behind Miyagi, spear at the ready

Miyagi-san uses a fairly unique way of choosing a door and in doing finds the following.

U7. Ballroom Balcony
A ten-foot wide balcony winds around an ancient ballroom below. A rickety-looking railing runs along the balcony’s edge. You can only imagine that, had he still been alive, this is where you would face Kikonu for a second time. As it is you find nothing but an empty round room.

Without him there all you find are five corbies, a bit larger then those you fought downstairs. They clearly were not expecting you and are taken by surprise by the opening doors.

Tahata hears a sudden series of loud squawks of surprise as Miyagi opens a set of doors down a short corridor. Abandoning the door he had planned to open he calls to Maitoh, "Maitoh, daban," before jogging towards the sound. Seeing the flock of corbies in the gallery beyond, Tahata readies for another fight.

"We've got more Corbies!" he yells back to the group of allies still in the main room.

He moves into the room cautiously, back to the wall and waves his spear around in small circles in a threatening manner.

Ready an action to take an unarmed attack at the first corbie to get within my 5' zone.

The monk quickly regretted consulting the wisdom of the ancestors as he opened the door and saw more the deadly birds in front of them. Botting Kagyu

Gortrek and Kagyu both move up so they may engage next round with the corbies while Losjien moves and throws a ball of acid in the general direction of the corbies. The acid hits and slowly slides down the wall a good distance from any target.

The pink corbie lowers its head and charges at Miyagi-san who lands a powerful blow as it approaches snapping the creatures head back and knocking it our of the fight. Nice timing for a crit.

The blue corbie likewise lowers its head and impales itself on Durian's spear as it advances. It hits the ground with a wet thud.

The yellow and black corbies follow their comrades in and at least manage to not get killed immediately as they to charge at the interlopers.

Tahata steps forward quickly to take on the corbies, even as two of them are felled by his comrades. "Maitoh, hücum!" he calls, lunging forward to attack. The wolf obeys, barrelling past the nearest corby to sink his teeth into it.

Seeing Gortrek hesitate, Kagyu steps into the remaining position between the two corbies and attempts to stab one with his spear.

While KOing one of the birds with a single punch was an achievement for the monk, getting hit never feels great. He grit his teeth before shouting as he punched the bird.

Gortrek slays the yellow corbie where it stands but the red one makes it out of the room. As it flees it shrieks at an incrediabbly high pitch over and over again and when the doors open the shrieking is picked up by others as two large bats sweep into the room. Taking advantage of the height the both swoop in and up even with the balcony, about 10ft off the ground.

The huge bats are like nothing Tahata has ever seen and their awkward hovering flight prevents him and Maitoh from attacking them. "Maitoh, qorumaq," he says to the wolf who holds his position at Tahata's side, ready to protect his master should one of the bats approach.

Tahata drops his spear at his feet and pulls his bow from it's quiver at his side. Drawing and nocking an arrow with speed, he pulls back the string and looses the arrow at the nearest bat.

Losjien is a bit thrown off by the swooping in of large bats and can neither tell much about them or connect with his acid splash.

Superstar Miyagi-san however shows some skills leaping high into the air and strking the blue bat hard in the snout.

Gortrek strides forward calling out the remaining corbie who is clearly responding to what was said weather or not he can understand the words.

Tahata also cannot work out the nature of the threat but knows enough to lob an arrow into one of the attackers for minimal damage.

The bat's scream is so intense that Tahata feels it in his teeth as the creature flies towards him and he sees Maitoh's ears fold down against the sound. The wolf seems groggy but is still upright enough to growl back at the bat.

Losjien winces as his ear pierce from the shriek. He Leans against the wall to steady himself and screams back @blue.

As the bat came into range Kagyu lashed out with his spear.

Does Durian get an AoO against blue the bat as it flies away from him? He just had reach to the bat, he didn't have to jump up like Miyagi. if so, that's below

"Maitoh, hücum! says Tahata and the wolf lunges somewhat woozily at the bat. At the same time Tahata drops his bow and, leaving his spear on the ground, pulls a stout club from his belt and tries to whack the bat with it as he steps around the flying creature.
