Metronicus Crady, the Bum Sage |

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
"Oh yeah", remembers Crady. "Nice halfling lady. Good scraps."
After everyone gets settled, the urban druid climes in, "Ya know, if I miss my guess, that pool we just saw used to be a fountain. I think for the time being, when I'm not needed by you folks, I'm gonna work on clearing that water away. Who knows, it might led to a supply of clean water. Yes, I have a LOT of work ahead of me", grinned Crady.

Pakuzzo |

"And I'm sure you'll do a fine job of it, while the rest of us provide moral support," Pakuzzo replies to Crady cheerfully, taking a pull from his mug.
"Mmm... Good stuff," he says, setting the coffee on the table. "Now, on to the next order of vital rebel business: lunch. I could murder a sandwich."

Vinz | Giant Raven |

While the party broke bread inside the coffee shop, Vinz was behind the building securing his own meal. Sometimes giant rats expired near the refuse bins if you knew where to look.
I figured this would be easier than trying to seat him at the table. Plus, he can use Scavenger!

Luthor Aesernus |

Passing through the doorway, Luthor catches sight of the painting. As proscribed, it depicted Queen Abrogail, but it also included several armored guards flanking her, their faces outside the frame of the picture. He scanned the left one, and in a moment found his signature: a silver fox hidden in the chain links of the guard's armor. Perhaps someday he'd have to shape-shift into one of her guards so he could make the picture a reality, then strike her down before anyone realized there was a vengeful kitsune among them.
Seeing the food, Luthor stretches out his hand and one of the pastries rises up a few inches to meet it. He turned down the coffee though, stating that it "wasn't his cup of tea" since it made his head buzz and casting spells more difficult.
Luthor gave an incredulous look when Crady (literally wrote that as Crazy and had to fix the freudian slip) spoke of cleaning out the pool. "I'll animate some sponges if you really want, but frankly I'd prefer my own abode to working out of that dump... Come to think of it, I probably shouldn't be seen in public with you shady characters if I want to keep my house, but I guess its a little late for that in this coffee shop.

Lurio Jhaltero |

Kn: Local: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
"Ms. Longroad is a member of the resistance? I would've never known..." Lurio whispered to himself, nodding as he thought about it. Who else could be part of the contacts that the Silver Ravens once had.
At the coffeeshop, now cleaned and not smelling of vomits, piss, and fecal matter, Lurio smiles as the halfling woman approaches. Giving a nod of his head, he bends down low after taking her hand and placing a kiss upon it.
"Laria, it is a pleasure to be back in your establishment. A cup of coffee sounds exquisite after the day we've had." His voice was charming, polite, and considerate. "A table in the back, if you wouldn't mind."
Settling into his seat with the crate put down beside him, he'd look towards Crady and give a small nod. "Hard work but...a proper restoration could be good." Luthor's comment bring an almost devious smile to the noble's face, his head nodding lightly. "Indeed, a bit late for that friend. A home will be fine for now but not for long. Even I will be leaving my comfort, for my family's sake."
Looking towards Rexus, he gives a slow nod and his expression grows more severe for a moment. "So...will she help us get this box opened then?"

GM RePete |

Rexus silently listens to the rest of the group converse, turning to Lurio in response "I'm not sure she's talented in such a fashion, but I'm sure she'll do what she can. Perhaps she knows someone...though I'm not sure."
As if on cue, the halfling enters the room as Rexus finishes his statement, closing the door quietly behind her. She sets a tray of small sandwiches and pastries down on a crate in the center of the room. Looking you over, her eyes resting on Rexus, she offers "I gather from your association with this noble, and your armored attire, you plan to revitalize the resistance?"
Rexus stands "There's is a chance of that madam." Pointing to each in turn, he introduces you. "A few you may have seen around town before, while others you may not. My companions are Lurio, Luthor, Cerenity, Crady, Pakuzzo, Marillo and Vinze whom is outside at the moment."
As the man points each of you out, Laria looks you over, taking in those present. "Hmmm...I'm curious as to your reasons." Stopping at the site of Luthor, she mumbles "A painter..."" before continuing with a shake of her head. "Why would you risk your family and your life to oppose the House of Thrune? Did you have any trouble at the LIvery?" she inquires. With arms crossed, she remains standing as she awaits your answers.

Lurio Jhaltero |

Lurio waited for the woman to enter in, his eyes taking her in and judging her in a different light. She was stern and careful, her mannerisms still polite but calculated now it seemed. He gave a bow of his head as Rexus introduced them all. Laria would seem to hesitate for a moment and Lurio would try to see for the moment why that would catch her attention rather than the tengu or the strange woman with the rare weapons.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Well. Not bad.
When she asked for their reason why they were willing to risk it all to oppose House Thrune, Lurio looked to his fellow comrades before he cleared his throat.
"I lost a good friend to the brutality of House Thrune, a worshiper of Milani. I watched her be torn apart by the Lord-Mayor's dogs, I watched her die." He said with a low, mournful tone. He remained silent for a moment, looking towards Rexus and nodding. "I saw how they beat down my fellow citizens, how the Lord-Mayor's proclamations grew more and more terrible every day. I am a proud patriot of Kintargo...and I realize the danger my family already is in. Rexus's family and holding were razed and my family could be next. We specialize in information, a powerful tool in a tyranny. I think it is only a matter of time before we're targetted and I rather not wait for him to come and kill my family, my servants, and my friends."
He grew silent for a moment, shaking his head as he spoke once more. "The livery was filled with these nasty creatures called Grimples. There was also devils within the fountain found within, we were fortunate that Cerenity is so deadly with her weapon of choice and Marillo had his silver blade." He gestures to the crate on the ground, nodding. "This crate is too well secured for us to open but I think it has the secrets that Rexus and the rest of us are searching for. Do you think you could help us?"

Luthor Aesernus |

Luthor looks at Lurio without turning his head, then his eyes return to Laria. "Between you and me, I was asking them all the same question just yesterday. I get Rexus, and I even sorta get Crady since the question implies still having a life or family to lose, but the rest?." He gives a shrug, then grimaces slightly, looking at his pastry."I suppose I'm in the same category as those two." He didn't seem to be looking for sympathy; instead it came across as a bit fatalistic.

Marillo Sullus |

Hoping to be passed over and to not have to speak about himself, Marillo stays quiet. He hopes that Lurio's question regarding the crate would be enough to sidetrack the discussion towards a less personal topic.

Pakuzzo |

Sense Motive (untrained): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Pakuzzo tosses back a bite of sandwich down his throat, a distinctly avian gesture. It's not like he can chew it.
"I--mmf, 'scuse me--I feel my reasons for joining this endeavor should be self-evident to anyone with a working brain, so much so that I'm surprised that more people haven't signed on as of yet."
"Kintargo has been the last bastion of true freedom in Cheliax for almost a century now, and House Thrune is finally taking heavy-handed measures to squash that. Until now, too many revolutionaries were content to grumble to each other in the shadows and chip away at the Thrune government here and there, but that was like trying to wear down the Arch of Aroden with a hand chisel. The Night of Ashes proved what happens when you sit around making speeches to the converted in locked rooms instead of taking coordinated action against tyranny, and I'm not about to let something like that happen again while I'm still sucking air. House Thrune needs the boot, Kintargo needs to breathe free again, and gods willing this will only be the starting point of an uprising that will wind up putting every last fascistic diabolist pillock in this bloody country on the executioner's block, including Her Royal Highness herself."

GM RePete |

Nodding as the three speak, quite obviously moved by Pakuzzo's oratory, she smiles "Glad to see we are of like-minds here." Looking to the artist questioningly, but trusting Rexus' judgment, she continues. "I have been one of those conspirators 'in locked rooms' for a while now as a member of the Bellflower Network. Due to this association, I've taken it on myself to know as much as I can about the cities secret...and not-so secret groups. Sadly with the recent scorched earth policy, my information network has largely been...silence and left me quite blind as a fixer."
Pausing a moment, the woman frowns, looking towards the door. A mild shake of her head brings her back to the present. "You are free to bed down in this room if you need rest. I also have a series of tunnels below the shop I've used in the past for hiding fugitives, Bellflower tillers and certain goods. The Wasp's nest as I call it has recently been conscripted by a friend to store some Varisian goods. Sadly, I've not seen him in several days and fear the worst."
"Sounds like the livery may not be the best location for you currently...You're welcome to use the Wasp's Nest temporarily. I would only request you check on Nan Comerivos, he went down a few days ago to check on his supplies and hasn't emerged yet. I keep putting food down there and it disappears, but this isn't like him."
Looking back to the crate Lurio spoke of, she pulls a set of angled, slender tools from her waist. "Though I've acquired quite a decent set of picking tools, I'm sadly inexperienced in the art. You're welcome to use my lockpicks though. Nan should be more useful in opening the box."
She is willing to give the MWK thieves' tools to any of you that ask for them, but she can't open the box either.

Marillo Sullus |

Marillo will take the MWK Thieves Tools, as he will be practicing on the lockbox, which will give him his point in disable devices at lvl2. Unless someone else wants them...in which case he will ask if she has any normal tools

Cerenity |

She lets out a humph. Shaking her head. But otherwise remains silent. If this was better days. These people would have been arrested on the spot. But now was not the time to dwell on past lives or laws. The present needed to be focused on. To set things right
-Posted with Wayfinder

Pakuzzo |

Pakuzzo pops the last bite of his sandwich into his beak.
"And while we're at it, what can you tell us about Nan? It might help us if we need to track him down."

GM RePete |

"How big? Well, it's the basement storeroom of this building and a couple of the neighboring ones, though this building is the only access point without swimming." She replies to the artist.
Turning to Pakuzzo, she offers "Well, he should be down there somewhere so should be terribly hard to find, though I don't know why he wouldn't come back up yet....I truly hope he's just lying low because of this Thrune business...someone has been eating the food I put down there..." Trailing off the halfling seems lost in thought.
After a moment, she continues, "But at night I've been hearing an inhuman screech...or something from down below. Nan is a human smuggler. There's not overly distinguishing marks. He's a satchel he always carries about with him..."
She goes on to describe the man in detail other than....average looking dude of average hight with average hair. :-P

Pakuzzo |

Well dang GM, what a vivid portrait you've painted. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pakuzzo wipes the corners of his mouth with a napkin.
"Duly noted. So, I assume there's dessert...?" he asks hopefully.

GM RePete |

Sadly the AP doesn't describe this person at all. Not even a race is listed. When you locate him it just says "PCs identify this as Nan"...

Metronicus Crady, the Bum Sage |

Looking around to the others, Crady stops eating to voice his opinion.
"What? So were are giving up on the Livery? It just needs some spit and polish..okay A LOT of spit and polish, but it's just as servicable."

Lurio Jhaltero |

"Well, if we're wanting to get this box open, it seems we're going to have to find this man underneath." He had hoped Nan was alright, the Bellflower Network was a constant thorn in Thrune's side and their members were targeted whenever possible.
"I think the Livery should be seen as a possibility regardless of the niceness this...Wasp's Nest is. We need places to fall back onto, places to hide out in, and we'll need more than one of them."
The noble will stand then, looking towards the others with a nod. "So...shall we go and find this man now?"

Marillo Sullus |

"Let us finish lunch. This is such a nice place. And we can leave as we finish, so we aren't always seen walking around together. Eventually we will be recognized as a group, and the authorities will put two and two together."

GM RePete |

Grinning at the sage's inquiry, she nods with Lurio's response. "Not saying you have to give up on the Livery. It just sounds like there's more work required on that front, while the Wasp's Nest could work in the interim."
Turning back to the bird-man, she stands. "Oh, but of course!" and hurries out of the room. Returning a few moments later, though much more cautious in her stride, the short woman carries a round cake. Setting it on a crate in from of Pakuzzo, she frowns "Apologies. It's not my best. I honestly wasn't sure if my friend had made it out of the protest unharmed."
Looking around the group again, she presses you "Naturally, out of concern I would appreciate haste in checking on my friend. However, I wouldn't wish you to put yourselves in danger. If you need a nights rest I understand. Whenever you're ready the entrance is through my storage cellar."

Pakuzzo |

@GM RePete: I'm just messing with you; I know all too well how sparse some of those module descriptions can be. It's all good. :)
Pakuzzo rubs his hands together greedily as he eyes the cake.
"You sell your skills far too short, miss. Just let me get a slice or two in my belly and I'll be more than happy to go find your absent human buddy."

Cerenity |

"Indeed. Best find people we believe will help us in our cause before there are none left. The more we are. The better chance we will stand against these oppressors" she nods. She adjusts her belt and her bandolier. Making sure everything is where it should be and ready for use
-Posted with Wayfinder

Luthor Aesernus |

A knife floats up from the side of the table and begins slicing the cake, though slightly unevenly since Luthor was only half paying attention to it.
"If the nest is just the size of a few cellars then I see no reason to wait on venturing down there, though I should be getting back to my shop sometime today or people are going to start wondering what happened to me and the paintings they commissioned me to do.
If there's no objections, lets head on down.

GM RePete |

New Map Up. For whatever reason it left a room off so the white box you are standing in is the store room cellar beneath the coffeehouse.
Standing she curtsies to each of you in turn. "It's right this way." Leading you to a storage room in the rear of the building, she points down a set of stairs into the dry cellar. As you begin down she adds "Oh! There's a secret door in the northwest wall. The torch rotates and it pops open" she whispers with a mischievous smile.
Stopping at the top of the stairs Rexus mumbles "Uh...I think I've had enough excitement for one day. I'm gonna wait this one out, if you don't mind."
This basement contains numerous crates of cooking ingredients, sacks of coffee beans, and other supplies needed to maintain a thriving business.
The chamber beyond the secret door
This long, damp hallway opens to the southeast into a large reservoir of calm, dark water. A wooden pier extends twenty feet into the water, while another twenty feet out rises the top half of a statue of a beautiful elven woman. A foul smell, like that of rotting meat, comes from somewhere near the pier. Two holes have been knocked into the northwest walls to provide access to chambers beyond.

Moving forward, he points at the raven.

Marillo, gingerly stepping around the beats massive tail looks intently for a soft spot in its scaled back. Finding a gap between the reptiles scales, he plunges his dagger into it's hide.
Attempting to turn Lurio's throw into a something positive he envisions the dagger taking flight and plunging into the alligator's eye. Sadly the beast moves at the last moment, causing the projectile to miss any soft spot and bounce off it's thick hide.
Against all odds, the raven manages to wrench it's feathered body out of the animals jaws and through miraculous aerial acrobatics flees to a safer location.
Pakuzzo, naturally agitated with the foe summersaults out of it's reach and sites in an arrow. Letting it fly, the pointed shaft lands home, piercing the enemies left eye.
The four-armed tiefling quickly reloads his weapon and lets loose another devastating blow, opening yet another hole in the animal's side.

Up Lurio Round 2. Then Marillo, Luthor, Pakuzzo, Cerenity, Crady Round 3.
Albino Alligator down. Still in Initiative for reasons. You have 1 round before reasons are revealed. Since Lurio hasn't acted this round - he can take two 'rounds' worth of actions

Lurio Jhaltero |

With the alligator dead, Lurio quickly makes his way over to his comrade while drawing out the vial of healing he had on his person.
"Pakuzzo, drink this." He offers, before turning and moving up with his friend Marillo. Getting momentarily distracted left his friend in the jaws of a terrible beast and if the others weren't skilled enough to make up for that, he might've died there. I cannot let that happen again." Lurio mentally scolds himself as he makes his way beside Marillo. "Hear anything else down here?"
1st turn was a double move to Pakuzzo and drawing out my potion as I moved. 2nd turn would be moving up beside Marillo and making a Perception check again.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Pakuzzo |

"Thanks," Pakuzzo wheezes to Lurio as he takes the vial, not at all in a state to be clever about it. "Likewise for the assist, Luthor. I was almost meat."
He pops the cork with his thumb and downs the liquid in one fluid motion.
Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Still tense, he tosses the bottle aside and quickly nocks another arrow.
"We're not safe yet. There's something moving in the room behind us. We need to regroup. Vinz, HEEL!"
Handle Animal (Heel) vs. DC 10: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
He moves back to the group, not keen on being caught on the pier if something attacks.
Move action (15 ft.)
