Mez finishes quaffing a large gulp from his drink before adding his questions to the barrage hitting the kind guard. "Yes, we are here to help if we can, and to do so, we need to know as much as we can about the disease. Like Drogan said, When did it start, did it start in a certain location of the town, how is it spread, how widespread is it, and..." casting a worried look at his druidic companion, "... are there any known ways to slow the progress of the disease?"

Tordek is telling you the truth from what you can tell.
in order of questions asked
Aye the healer would know more about this disease than anything he has been dealing with it so much lately since it started.
He then turns to Drogan The plague started about several weeks ago, it would seem that the source is our drinking well. Any water that you see people drinking has been imported or purified by the town healer.
The disease has spread pretty rappily, even touching something that someone infected has touch has the chance of getting you with the Plague. Your friend if he just contracted it should be fine for the first 24 hours. If he lucky is in two days his body will fight it off before it does any real damage.
The way that the plague works is that for the first 24 hours nothing happens as it is the incubation period. After that he must make two Fortitude saves in a row. Each time he makes it nothing happens if he fails then it would do 1d4 of con damage for each failed save.

Taking a quick moment to look at his drinking mug, Mez says, "Ok, so it looks like we should talk to this Healer, and get his information. Also, any town records or details on this well would be beneficial. Does it have an inlet or tributary, does it fill just from ground saturation, that kind of thing. Any other ideas?"

Well around this time Kobalds took up reisdence in our mines which is why there is a shortage of silver. They slay the miners that were there and we do not have the resources to take them out. We think that they might have to do with the posioning of the water becuase they have taken up resident in the underground source of our water.
He says shaking his head regretfully.

Mez sprays out a bit of foam from his mouth at the revelation of Kobolds in the mines. "You don't think you could of led with that. Sir, Kobolds took up residence in the silver mines where we get our water, and now the silver stopped and the water is corrupted... Sheesh. I still think we should talk to the healer, but I definitely know one place we should look." Mez stands as he speak, leaving little doubt he means to be off soon.

Drogan Thralldrin |

"Aye, this is important news. As I suspected, a military tactic. Thank you for your information, comrade.
Drogan drains the last of of his tankard before slamming it down onto the table.
"We have a clear enemy in front of us, now. Let us not waste any more time, but seek them out and end them. One last question, Tordek. Where is the entrance to the mines, and where have the Kobolds taken residence?"

Drogan Thralldrin |

That's a dangerous proposition, lass. The scout would have to leave those in their clunky armor behind, meaning if the scout got caught, there'd be little chance of fast backup. And all you humans need light to see down in those mines, which will give you away pretty quickly. Although I never can remember if Kobolds can see in the dark. Gennor, you mentioned you were versed in lore. Do you know?
Drogan lacks the proper knowledge skill to find out if Kobolds have darkvision
Drogan turns back to Tordek.
Is there anywhere we might find a map of the mines?

"Very good, so we have two places to go before we head into the mines, the Healer, and the Head Miners Widow so that we can obtain a map. Which place would we want to go first? I would think the Healer, personally, since most miner's live close to the mines they work." says Mez, looking to see if the group has anymore questions for their guard friend before heading on their way.

Gennor the Melodious |

"Not only are Kobolds able to see in the dark for up to 60 ft., they are actually quite sensitive to light- I would strongly suggest we prepare spells or items to take with us that produce bursts of light to blind them- I myself currently do not know any such spells. We will likely be facing either a nest or tribe of them, which means anywhere from 5 to 300 active combatants plus noncombatants and possibly even dire rat 'pets'. I think we need oil or alchemists' fire to deal with this threat, the more the better. Also, we will need to be on guard for traps- while they are crude, kobolds love to use traps to defend themselves- as they are cowards they also love to employ ambush tactics."

Drogan Thralldrin |

That is a fine plan, but let us hurry. I fear for Greydon here.
He looks at Greydon with concern for a moment, still not getting too close, when an idea hits him.
If the Kobolds have poisoned the water supply, where do they drink from? Perhaps they have an antidote that they take, and that we could obtain.

After the party leave the bar they can see the sign that shows where the healer is located. When they arrive in the room. They see a half elf disrobing from a suit and putting it into a trash taking care not to touch the outside. Ah I see I have some visitors please come in. Come in. What can I do for you?

"We come to try and help with the plague outbreak, and I fear one of our number. " motioning to Greydon, "Has already contracted it. We'd like to know what you know about it, can it be slowed, and how can we prevent further outbreak?"

Gm Razor |

I might be able to help him to the best of my ability. As we are low on our stock of potions of cure disease and my divine spells are not at the level yet that I can do it myself. What I can do is slow the process down with one of my spells. Tomorrow I am expecting a shipment of potions then I can hand those out. However unless we can get the town water supply purified there is no sure way of preventing further outbreak. I myself am only protected through this Periapt of Health Given to me by my mentor long ago. He will then adjust the necklace around his neck before speaking again. Please Step forward, If you are to fight I can spare one potion of cure disease as well for you but be wary, even when cured you can still catch it again. It seems to evolve every time you get it. Is there anything else I can help you with?
If you choose to accept you can have one of the last few potions of cure disease available until tomorrow, or he will cast for free delay disease to slow down the process of it taking effect.

Gm Razor |

You are indeed a noble man. If you can kill the Kobolds and find out how they poisoned the water, I would be in your debt and give you potions tomorrow and provide free healing as long as you are in this town. Father Samul will bow his head as he calls upon the power of Iomedae placing his hands on Greydons chest casing Delay Disease. for the next 24 hours it is delated so that it will not take affect for two days instead of the normal one.

"Not so fast Greydon. Father, Do you know of anything we should be looking for in the tunnels, anything that may be causing this? It's all well and good to remove the menace from the tunnels, but if we then leave the cause of the plague, it will not stop." ask Mez.

Gm Razor |

Well not many folks have this in mind, however several years ago we had a small war with the Orcs to get the mine that we have now. It is possible that one of the surviving Orcs had some sort of grudge against our town and decided to rally some Kobolds to take the mines and poison our water to wipe us out. It is a theory but it is the only reason I can think of. Perhaps when you get the the source of our well that is in the mines you can see who the commander of the Kobolds is. Father will then bow his head as he thinks deeply on the matter.

Gm Razor |

you recall one young orc by the name of Jakk who had his family killed during the war who swore vengeance on the town. You recall also some rumors of Jakk worshiping Urgathoa (in the actually PDF it is a D&D god so I changed it to her since disease is one of her main abilities) which could attribute to the disease suddenly appearing.

Sensing a lull in the questioning of the Healer, Mez interjects, "Well, we've learned a bit, and Greydon has another day before he gets sick. Shall we go get the map of the mines, and see about stopping these Kobolds and Orc? The longer we wait, the most people could die of this plague."
