With his previous target disarmed, Garrun pivots to gain a better vantage against another of their yapping attackers. Reloading, he looses another bolt, "Keep firing! Their strength is waning!"

Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

I'm assuming #5 is the one I skewered last round, so I would be firing at #4


The group's missile fire continues to be effective. While Lucian's and Garrun's shots are ineffective, Dai proves his worth yet again, with the young monk's first arrow striking one of the creatures in the chest, knocking it backwards off its branch, and leaving it dangling obscenely in the air, held by a short rope tied around its ankle.

Finn's slingstaff has little to no effect. And he's hurt pretty badly from the kobolds attacks, so Mr Scruffles moves Finn forward under some cover and goes defensive (+4 Ac If I'm not mistaken) while Finn gets out his sword, remembering that one of the kobolds started beating sticks together, probably a summons for help. Finn keeps an eye out for more trouble.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16


Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/ Occultist 1 AC 15, Touch 11, Flat 14/ (HP 19/25) / Init +1 / Fort +6, Ref +2,Will +4 / Perception +8

Sensing that his decision to go tree hopping perhaps wasn't very well planned out, Nogrogomed takes one last swing at the kobold before jumping down and moving toward his next target.

Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 182d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 to jump down safely

Nogrogomed moves towards the other kobolds, drawing a javelin along the way.


As Finn moves forward into cover, Nogrogomed takes a swing at his opponent, caving in his skull and causing the corpse to tumble out of the tree. Then, he surprises even himself with a graceful leap to the ground.

The kobold beating two sticks together continues to do so, and the noise it makes is answered from further north, with the sound of one, then more sets of sticks echoing up from the gorge.

The other kobold takes aim with last of its javelins, hurling it at Garrun

Javelin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Confirm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

and striking what would have been a crucial blow had he not turned at the last minute.

Havimg hurled the missile, the kobold turns and leaps further into the trees, and out of view.

Dai moves closer and fires off 2 arrows at one of the kobolds in the tree (#3)

Garrun pays the javelin little notice as it slices a gash in his outer thigh, a flesh wound at best, the gorumite's training had prepared him to ignore far worse.

Focusing on his last visible target (#3), Garrun reloads and advances to clear a branch from his line of sight before loosing another bolt.

Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

"Bring down those drummers! We need to fortify our position before their reinforcements arrive!"


The one remaining kobold keeps up its drumming, but is brought down in a hail of fire from Garrun, Lucian and Dai. As its body smashes to the ground, silence returns to the glade, except for the scared whinnying of the pony. But hollow drumming continues to echo from the north, as the other kobolds respond to the signal of their sentries.

The corpses of four kobolds now decorate the clearing - two pinned to trees, one on the ground, and the fourth dangling obscenely from a branch after Nogrogomed's unorthodox attack.

It takes the group a few moments to realize that Ichabod is nowhere to be seen.

Drop out of init for the moment, but it is obvious that there are other enemies nearby

Garrun nods approvingly as the last kobold plummets from it's perch. Putting up her crossbow, the warpriest snaps his sword up from the end of it's cord and moves forward, ears straining to gauge the distance of the remaining drumbeats.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

"Miserable little ankle-biters. On the ground they should prove far more manageable. I say we settle into the bushes and wait for them to come poking around. No doubt they expect to catch us still engaged with the others. They may break entirely in the face of coordinated opposition."

"...where has Ichabod gone?"

So no one caught a glimpse of where he might have gone to?"

Finn is gonna ready himself for the oncoming attack by turning towards the sound and drawing his lance and holding it at the ready. While he waits he looks around.

"I didn't see Ichabod in all the commotion. I could use some healing though."

Opalia moves to the halfling and casts a curative spell on him.

CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Then she returns to her spot and readies her bow. Looks around for Ichabod and then she frowns to Finn with an upturned mouth.

Dai tries to find a good spot with a clear field of vision to where he thinks the creatures might be coming.

"Maybe he has left to find us more help?", the boys says, but the tone of his voice shows that not even he believes that was what happened.

To Opalia Finn says"Thank you Opalia, now I am ready to skewer some kobolds."

"Unless they attack us from the trees again." Finn whispers to which Mr Scruffles echoes his thoughts with a whine.

"Right. Spread out and hunker down in the bushes. We'll see how the little buggers like being on the other side of an ambush."

Tucking into the trees on the bottom edge of the central clearing should give us the most space to fight. Those more stealthy might try hiding further north and attack the flanks. Just don't overextend yourself in case you're discovered first.

Nogrogomed considered trying to hide behind a tree or in the brush, hoping to surprise the little buggers when they arrive, but remembers he is not a nimble little halfling. Instead, he decides to be the bait, standing in the clearing waiting for them to arrive. Perhaps being big, green, scarred, and bleeding will scare them in to submitting.

Nogrogomed will continue to take a Total Defense action until the enemy is in site and he has a chance to act: AC increases to 19

"Finn, perhaps you could position yourself in such a way that would allow you to charge once they rush me. Lucian, perhaps you could take advantage of your stealth to stab them in the back?"

Finn and Mr Scruffles move sort of behind the big half-orc and will hide there to catch the oncoming kobolds by surprise.

The drumming from the north ceases, and an ominous silence re-establishes itself over the glade. Various members of the group try to conceal themselves for a counter ambush, wary of the many traps and snares littered throughout the trees and bushes.

Anxious seconds stretch into taut minutes, as there is no sign of activity.
