Zatqalmie Firetop – you will need to make a full alias for your character
Makvor– looks like your character is ready to go
Quaylon – please put your full character sheet in your alias
Mrachi – looks like your character is done too
Zordlon Boweave – I got a few issues with your sheet. One is the damage on your bow. Dexterity doesn’t count for damage without some type of Class Ability, Feat, or Power. Also in reguard to your bow with a Strength score of 10 there is no point to having a Composite Longbow. Example if the bow allows for +1 Strength damage you would be attacking at a -1 do to not having a 12 Strength. Also I question not taking Precise Strike, you do realize that when you Rapid Shot an opponent that is in melee with an ally that you will be at a -6 to hit (-2 for Rapid Shot, -4 for the in melee with an ally). If you have specific reasons for this, your ok I just wanted to alert you to potential problems. Over all an Elven Archer is classic and I love that I see one again.
Hollow’s Last Hope takes place in Andoran (the birth place of freedom) a settled peaceful country where Democracy reigns. Still there are wilds and unruly areas there; the Darkmoon Forest is just such a place. There has been tales of an outbreak of disease in Falcon’s Hollow as well as Goblin sightings in the nearby forest.
Quaylon – Longing to test your skills of digging up ancient relics you have heard a smattering of tales of a long abandoned dwarven ruin somewhere in Darkmoon Vale. Your skin tingles with the excitement of a potential find. Dwarves are renowned for attempting to take their secrets with them.
Makvor – There is something seriously wrong with the forest north of Falcon’s Hollow. You feel it in your bones. Even your wolf senses it, or at least that’s your guess judging by it’s anxious antics. Having decided to find out more about what is going on you find yourself in a place that might not be too friendly for a wild Half-Orc. Even still the troubles with forests always start with man.
Mrachi – A possible plague! What better service could one of the faithful offer? Wrought with challenges the small town of Falcon’s Hollow has yielded no surprises. You have been seeking away around the prejudices and mistrust that block your way. Thankfully Lady Cirthana, also a Cleirc of Iomedae, summon for help. You were commanded to report to her at once. Since she has entreated you to gather a force of explorers and to seek out the local Medicine woman Laural. She alone can banish this disease from our town. Please aid her however you can.
Zatqalmie (what a mouthful)– Franklin has gone on and on and on about the Half-Orcs you need to find. He just won’t shut up about it. Its gone way past the point of annoying. You two have had your second go around today, though to onlookers it just seems like another crazy gnome thinks his hat can talk. Before putting your hat back where hats go Franklin had said No, they’re here. They are suppose to help you. There is danger. One is good the other has a wolf. Find the Sword of Justice and the wolf!
Zordlon – You have come down with several other Elves to check on the health of the Darkmoon Vale. The precious darkwood forest seems to growing smaller every year. Being the youngest of the three you were selected to stay behind and explore the forest. Not wanting to explore it by yourself you have opted to find some companions to help out. All the better if there is a worthy cause to gather some useful people to do some exploring.
You have all heard rumors of others like yourself seeking companions. It is well know that these strangers come to buy meals at a local ale house. The ale house is simply known as The Ale House, and you find yourself there right now or just walking in.
If you have done what I have asked you to do above, head over to the IC board and start posting.

Ok will head over there in a sec. But first lets figure out this issues with my character. I didnt realize the penalty for shooting a person at close range so i will adjust that here in a sec. And second, i believe that ranged weapons add their DEX as opposed to STR. am i wrong? O.o

Makvor |

Normally, a bow or crossbow doesn't add any damage at all past the base damage for the ammunition. However, composite bows can have a strength rating associated with them that mean they have a greater pull, and thus put more force behind the arrow, thus doing more damage (allowing you to add your Strength bonus, if any, to the damage, up to the rating of the bow). As the GM pointed out, though, with 10 Strength, you might be better off going with a regular longbow.
If you're going to try to be an archer, primarily, your first two feats should really be point blank shot and precise shot, imho. That will allow you to stand behind those of us in the front lines and let the bad guys do their very best pincushion immitations, and will give you a bonus to hit and damage, besides. Then you can start looking at doing rapid shot, deadly aim, etc.
EDIT - ....and never mind, 'cause you've figured this stuff out already. :-P

GM Poisonblade |

And the composite bow was just cause sort of thing. Only the best for Zordlon
Composite bows add strength damage. Dexterity to hit, Strength to damage. With just a Longbow you would never get strength damage. They have a specific number attached to the allowable strength damage you can do composites can do. The more Strength damage you want to do the more the bow costs. Read the weapon description. If you want to redo your abliites to give you a higher strength the bow you can. The bow will cost more is all. We just need to figure it out before combat.

Quaylon |

hmmmm... ok, so your saying my primaray ability should be STR as opposed to DEX? i can fix that np. and i already changed my feats :P
I think the main thing is if you have a comp bow to add damage, you will need the strength to match it (+1 bow needs the 12 str) but regardless for the archer build you will need dex to hit.

This is correct, and what I was trying to say.

GM Poisonblade,
I noticed that you mentioned that these were short adventures and my concept was really meant to develop around 4th Level.
Do you mind if I change Firetop to a Barbarian and make a few other slight changes. Background will be basically the same but I'd make him quick tempered instead with a focus on the greataxe.
I'll be creating the alias shortly.
Thanks!

Zatqualmie Fire-Top |

The character profile is still in progress but it will be done by the end of today.
If you'd rather the original build over the barbarian just let me know and I'll change him back.
Thanks.

GM Poisonblade |

While this might be a short adventure it links into others. I saw that you may be a serious builder type of player so I put you here for just that reason. If everything works out we might play more than one module. I will leave the Barbarian/Warrior thing to you as I had wonderd why he was a Barbarian. You read like a mean little gnome for sure.
I can't promise how it will all shake out 8-12 months from now but having come home to 17 posts we might just have a good group.

Zatqualmie Fire-Top |

If it doesn't make a difference to you then I'll leave him as a barbarian, potentially taking the invulnerable rager archetype next level.
The length of the game and the pace which I expect the play by post system to run made me consider shifting to something that I'll have more fun with now rather the hoping to enjoy him more later.
When I switched to the barbarian I thought I'd tie a little mean/short tempered streak in to his overall quirky nature.
This being my first PbP run, it already seems rather enjoyable!

GM Poisonblade |

Archtypes are choosen at first level. You will have plenty of time to decide. You shouldn't level for a couple of months, though it depends on how fast the posting goes.
Good to have a Barbarian Gnome around. You never know when you will need to drop him down some wizard's robes and watch the dance. LOL

Zatqualmie Fire-Top |

I'm not sure how to handle this. I expect that a sense motive on "So... you think 'the danger' is 'a plague' and we need to find 'Laural' to stop it?" would reveal that Fire-Top has no idea what he is talking about and seems to be repeating things he heard in a sentence.
Should I just tell you that and let you set a DC or how should that be handled?
Thanks.

And if your wondering why i didnt use sense motive either, Zordlon isnt the suspicious type and just sees the ax as probably him filling in for the wench for a brief time and he probably doesnt usually do such things as he has another job as woodcutting, and the wench was his wife :P and they own the ale house together. But he himself doesn't work much in it.

GM Poisonblade |

Typically Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive do not work on PCs from other PCs. Its up to the player to decide what info to reveal and how to reveal it. If the player wants to lie, its up to the player(s) to disprove it, if they want to disprove it or if they can. Like wise Diplomacy, its up to you to figure out how to get them to join you and vice-versa.
If Zatqualmie wants to interact with Franklin I expect you post your question like you would any other NPC. If you’re having trouble interacting with a PC break it down. Ask a simple question. Don’t be too elaborate, just put it out there In Character.
I might not have fully understood the question either.

Zatqualmie Fire-Top |

Are we limited by the three post maximum per day rule you mentioned in the character creation thread during in character conversations?

GM: How do you want us to handle our currency? In the sense just then i had 4sp and 96 copper, but i just took a gold and converted it to silver to pay him. However i don't know if you want to let us just exchange gold we have like that or if i should just give him a gold piece or what not

Mrachni |

I'm rather sore on Minecraft at the moment... just died the other night at level 40 with 10 diamonds, diamond boots, and a fully-enchanted (Efficiency III, Fortune II, Unbreaking III) diamond pick. And, of course, couldn't get back to where I died to get my stuff. Stupid skeleton archers.

Mrachni |

A wonderful, wonderful game. This link seems like a good beginner's guide, though I'd skip downloading it and just telnet to nethack.alt.org (that way you're playing "in public", and people can watch you play and see how you're doing, offer you tips, etc).
