I'll just leave this here.
Sustaining Sandwich Bag
Source TBD
Aura faint conjuration; CL 5th
Slot none; Price 5,400 gp; Weight —
Description
If this seemingly unremarkable brown paper bag is reached into, the vessel fills with a thick, pasty sandwich. Although the sandwich tastes like warm, wet cardboard, it is highly nourishing and contains everything necessary to sustain any herbivorous, omnivorous, or carnivorous creature. The bag can produce sufficient sandwiches each day to feed up to four humans. If the possessor is an alchemist with an alchemy crafting kit, they can add ingredients from the kit when reaching into the bag. If they do so and the sandwich is consumed within an hour, the sandwich drawn forth is a flavorful bonanza of primary protein, cheese, vegetables and/or condiments of the alchemist’s choosing.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, create food and water, prestidigitation; Cost 2,700 gp

Glorious. I may nick that as a magic item for handling food needs.

On further research, Perception states that the modifier for being asleep is +10. Verbal component spells require a "strong voice." Detect magic has a verbal component. That's at least DCzer0 because hearing a conversation is DCzer0. Sleeper has +11 to Perception. Is there any reason why the sleeper doesn't wake up now that Tragershen is scanning him?
Tragershen |
I was going to try and be at least 30' away for the hideous laughter spell. If there is space in the room to do so, he be even a bit further back than that with the detect magic.
Talathel Rhuiren |
Sounds good!
Tragershen |
Wow. I'm feeling a lot of peer pressure to do something totally brilliant now! Just remember; I actually lost initiative to the sleeper, so he'll get to do something before I do.
If he's immune to intimidate, it makes me wonder if hideous laughter would work against him. I'll have to consider options. Maybe he needs a pit stop?
Anzath |
Yeah, no, i noticed that too. You think we still have a chance at diplomacy?
Talathel Rhuiren |
@Adelie: Hide campsite would be an additional level of protection.
Talathel Rhuiren |
Have any of us heard of Zehn?
Talathel Rhuiren |
I may not be able to post again until Saturday. Just a heads up.
I'm quite okay with Talathel continuing to stab and AOO in the protection of his comrades-in-arms!

Be careful out there and have a good time!
Talathel Rhuiren |
I hope that you have a great time, Parrot. :)

Safe travels! I used to day hike that area in my younger years. Especially the Snow Lake/Gem Lake trail. Good times. :)
I got this message as I was heading out, and I almost headed that way instead of what I had planned. Instead I stuck to the plan and went to Kaleetan Lake. Looking at the map, Snow and Gem are just on the other side of Kaleetan Peak, though, so... I guess one could say that the hikes of your younger years are over the hill!
*rim shot*
...I'll check out Snow/Gem soon!
I saw no humans between noon on Sunday and noon on Monday. A nice break, but it just makes me want to go out more, I'm afraid.
Tragershen |
I think you made the right choice. Snow Lake/Gem Lake can be a long day hike, so I don't think you'd have experienced the same quality solitude you had with Kaleetan Lake. I am glad you had some true quality down time. :)

I was partly interested in Kaleetan because it's on a list of lakes that are currently overpopulated with trout--I'm a rotten fisherman, but I liked the sound of fishing with population pressure on my side. I decided not to haul the rod at the trailhead, which was probably a good idea--Kaleetan is the buggiest place I've been since I lived in Maine. Not a big problem for me because I was able to hang in my tent and read a ton while the ladies hung on the mesh and, like all polite vampires, asked to be let in... I declined. I split the hike into the Wilderness with a night at Tuskohatchie Lake, but I did the hike out in one swoop from Kaleetan to the Granite Mountain trailhead. A little sore today.

I am INSANELY jealous of that view! I think I'd die on the spot (of happiness) if I woke up to it.
though — is that snow, or just lightly-colored stone that just looks like it? As a lifelong southerner it's wigging me out to think there could possibly be snow anywhere in this country while I bake in 90-100 degree humidity... though I quite wish we had some right about now.
GM Parrot |
That's snow all right! I didn't get close to any on this hike, but I saw plenty in the mountains above.
The weather in WA trounces the weather in the South. I don't miss the feeling of swimming in the ambient humidity. Not one little bit. I don't think we've gotten much over 90 yet this year, although it's pretty hot in my kitchen just now... heh, just checked, it's 80 degrees. I've gotten soft. When I first moved here I chuckled when people would complain about 80 degrees, and now look at me. Our families keep saying we should move home... hmm... no thanks!
Come visit someday, we'll go somewhere fatally lovely.

That is gorgeous scenery. You're onto a good thing with these trips!
I am a sucker for mountain and forest views. Add sea or a decent-sized lake and I am happy out.
What little snow falls in Ireland is normally slush pretty quickly. Galway gets even less than most cities in the country. But pros and cons and all that! Connemara is a drive west and is one of the most beautiful parts of the west coast.

Test:
The eyes
Anzath underground: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
The aids
Adelie (auto-assist): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Aurora: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Bedlam (auto-assist): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Lolly (auto-assist): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Talathel: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Tragershen: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Ok, Lolz! Now you're back in the perception game. I also fixed a formatting issue where I could see who is auto-assisting, but now you all can, too. I don't think the party has missed anything you'd have helped with +2.
Tal: Seattle doesn't get much snow, but it falls in the mountains all winter. I am doing what I can to feel lucky that I don't have a job. There's been a little freelance editing on the side.
Kate studied abroad in Galway during college and is a big fan--she talks about a certain pub with storytellers every now and then. And maybe a berry syrup to put in one's stout? If I remember the story right, she went and listened to the same story show every night for many nights on end, to the perplexity of the teller. I'll ask her to tell me the story about the stories again after she gets off work...

Hiya players!
I know I've been dropping out to adventure in the real world, so those times are on me, but I'm missing the up-tempo days when everyone would post relatively often. Not trying to lecture or require anything--this is a long-haul project and I love what each of you adds to it--but if you've got the time, I've got the time!
Anzath |
Time iz stretched thin for me atm. Work is kinda overwhelming, planning a wedding during a global pandemic even more overwhelming, my home game players are wanting to play more often now, and so my poor pbp games are running behind. PC posts are easier and quicker than GM posts, so the random spare few minutes i have usually go to posting to this game. The other pbp game im in has ground to a halt.
So, maybe its not just us. Maybe its the boards in general. I dont know, i dont have the time to look :p
On the topic, going camping over the weekend. Bot if necessary. See you.on the other side.
Tragershen |
Sorry if I've been a bit more quiet than normal. I often post on breaks from work, and there haven't been as many of those lately.
But I do love this game, and I will make more time to drop in more often. :)

@Parrot: I am curious to know which pub she was referring to. I know that there is meant to be a monthly storytelling meetup in a pub in the Claddagh (a part of the city) though I haven't been to that one myself.
******************
I've felt a general slowdown in the majority of my pbp games this week.
As for me, these days I tend not to be available during weekday until the evening. So it's rare that I'll be getting in more than one post a day. That said, the weekend has rolled in. :)

Adding my voice to the chorus of activity updates: It's my turn to DM for the Tuesday group (running Curse of the Crimson Throne!), so a lot of my Pathfinder energy is being turned into getting the ending of #4 wrapped up, adding some extra content to fill things out and tie off hanging story threads, and then setting up Castle Scarwall to knock out #5.
Getting the maps properly sized for the grid while maintaining an appropriate file size for the program we use is... fun... 1 Square = 10 Feet is my bane.

Kate can't find the bar in question, but the internet says the Crane Bar has the same storyteller she heard: Rab Fulton. If that's the one you're thinking of (looks like it's in the Claddagh), then at least you get the teller! Or will, when such small good things are allowed again. Today I'm feeling pretty low about all the small things lost in the last months.
She also remembers a bakery with wonderful food in an alley, but we couldn't find it on google maps.
---
And the rest of you--best luck in your work, play, and (for some of us) with your not-work. Come hang with me when you can.

This one's for Aurora: hiking the outskirts of Mt Rainier today, June 18th
Showing off that you have snow an hour's drive away while our friend is baking in the South? That's cold, man!

The Crane was on my short list of possibilities - it sees a lot of trad music and whathaveyou.
Galway is blessed with a great number of eateries. That could be a few places!
Further research required. :D

It is a cruel life, but it is the life I know. At least it's hot enough to eat icecream without getting cold.
