To fancy fer us dwarves.

Aww shucks, Bedlam, I gotta justify my absence from the game by making my work sound as fancy as I can. And I think you'd appreciate all the stonework, if nothing else--plenty of gargoyles to warm the dwarvish heart. The weak ales, though, you'd probably not like. Who know that the US's beers would be stronger than the UK's? I hear it's because they prefer drinking more at a sitting, and I guess there's sense to that, but a dwarf would need a big tankard (or, scotch).

And really, it's just a room of people reading books, with the occasional fart echoing through the silence.

Home tomorrow, hopefully will be back on top of posting soon after!

Welcome back!

I've been looking at such things as converting Frog God Games monster into 5th edition.

In other news, I now own the collector's edition of the 5th edition core books, plus Xanathar's and Mordenkainen's.

I've got the 5e books, and run periodic games for my family. Isn't there an official 5e Frog God version of Rappan Athuk?

There is, but the tome I have sitting nearby is The Slumbering Tsar Saga. I've read through the thing, and several times I said out loud:

"PC's are going to *die*."

It is a suitably brutal companion to Rappan Athuk from what I've seen of this campaign.

What I can't figure out, Tal, is why you folks aren't dying!

Then I remember that you haven't gone to the "real dungeon" yet and I feel a little better. If you end up steamrolling the first few levels, the lower depths will come all the sooner...

Tragershen, I'm pretty sure that there's a 5e Rappan Athuk.

We're attempting something resembling tactics and coordination. ;) Also, we're not in the true dungeon, gods help us all.

And here's Rappan Athuk, available for Pathfinder, Swords and Wizardry, and 5E.

No worries. I trust your math; besides 36 damage would do it even if our math is a bit off. If we can resurrect him, then that would be my preference. I do enjoy the crazy dwarf too...lol.

Besides, my play style is a bit aggressive. I accept the consequences. I absolutely love these types of campaigns. I have played Bone Keep 1,2, and 3...twice.

Alright then! I like this style of game too, but there's no way to look into the eyes of the player and see if there are tears of joy or tears of laughter when you're doing PbP.

Bed is Dead.

For now.

Did Bedlam have concealment against Big Mama because of the glitterdust? Did I misunderstand the resolution to that?

I just noticed the hits on Tragershen were based on the armor class in his header, which doesn't include his having cast mage armor earlier. But I get it if you don't want to retcon those hits on him. I'll try to include a footer in posts that includes active effects to make it easier for the rest of the combat.

Talathel!
Assuming our partyfolk finish the spiders, how do you feel about Reincarnate? Or do you want to be hauled back to someone who can bring back your body, too? I might even let you roll on the expanded list here if you're into it. It's all Drusilla will have to offer, but it's a good deal, if you ask me!

Just to go back to your question here, I wouldn't be opposed to reincarnation for Tragershen if it came to it. Most of the races he could come back as would give him a mechanical advantage (hopefully he wouldn't come back as human!). Few would give a mechanical disadvantage (merman, anyone?). RP wise, most would be fun to play up. Showing up at a family reunion as a hobgoblin would be awkward...

Well, as Bedlam (and this encounter) reminded us, this is Rappan Athuk! And, just in case, I do have a back up character sketched out in case of a grisly termination of Trag's ambitions. :)

Y'all are the best. I can't wait to see who dies next!

Broken plane, delayed flight, missed connection: it all adds up to twelve hours in the charming, beautiful, lovely, elegant hospitality of the Detroit airport! I am going to burn some of this time by mashing keys on the forum. You may tune in to the game and get a novella!

I am 60 minutes from there...lol.

Fine the National Coney Island; I recommend a Hani and chili cheese fries.

This will be the only time I ride a train across an airport in quest of cheese fries. Thanks for the tip! And for the record, this is actually not the most hideous of airports (lookin' at you, Kansas City!), I'm just mad that I have to spend my whole day here because of a 30 minute delay.

So do we have a Druid amongst us now?

Potential druid is under an unusual amount of real life pressure right now. I'm hopeful they can claw out and join us, but it'll be at least a few more days. Drusilla will "send reinforcements" or something. We're missing out on some sweet easy story, but this way at least Bedlam is back.

By the way, I realized that he has only 5 hp.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oh, also, you all already know this but reminders are good: as the game winds into its second year and as you advance through levels (six soonish!), your characters become increasingly hard for me to track due to the gradual increase in complexity of options, powers, etc. I'm very reliant on your statbars (especially) and character sheets, and even then I make a lot of mistakes (humbly, happily making mistakes; all part of the game, just let me know when you spot them!). I'll use the campaign description to keep things current on my end, and if you track your individual characters on yours through the statbar-description thing, we'll have two systems of accounting that can check each other.
