The labels can be removed if desired. It should be noted, though, that goblin epistemology (using the term broadly) holds that writing words steals ideas from your head, but just having written items in your possession does not do anything bad to you.

OK, I need a little bit of time to find an appropriate map. The module doesn't have one. I'll have something up by tomorrow.

"Kill pinkskins, we be best gobs if we do!"
Apologies for lack of posting, was in the hospital again for a routine blood drawing and passed out, so they had to hold me for a while.
GM Paladin |
Sorry about this delay. I will consider this to be a hiatus, but it will be a brief one. I'll be back to posting as of Sunday evening.

With Chuffy and Greta following the tracks, it's easy to find their source. Some 50 feet down the path, a colorfully painted wagon sits half-sunken in a patch of foul-smelling mud. Abominable words decorate the side of the wagon along with paintings of potions and magic trinkets. Bottles, barrels, pots, and all manner of real potions and curios poke out from beneath the bulging canvas that covers the top of the wagon.
The point-eared longshanks depicted on the labels of the crate and potion bottles stands in front of the wagon, tugging on a rope connected to -- horror upon horror -- a horse! Or something very like a horse, anyway. It seems smaller than what the other goblins have described.
In any case, the wagon seems stuck firmly in the mud, and the pulling of the longshanks and her horse do not seem to be getting it free.
They do not appear to have noticed you yet.
If it's alright with all of you, we can do this encounter abstractly, since the module doesn't specify a map to use.

Mogmurch does what goblins do best and joins in the sneaking, pulling out one of his fiery gourds.

When close enough, he laughs maniacly and throws the gourd.

Maggie notices Mogmurch slinking along, but doesn't seem to see any of the others.
"Oh! Good day Mr. Goblin, sir, Magical Maggie at your service! Would you be interested in any of my fine OH MY GODDESS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? AIIIIEEEE!"
Her sales pitch is cut short when Mogmurch hurls a gourd full of fiery liquid at her.
Everyone please roll your initiative and post an action. I'd do it myself but I've got a headache and need to head to bed. Tomorrow I'll roll for anyone who hasn't yet and resolve actions in order.

Round 1:
He then moves in, and takes a swing with his sharpened rock, giggling as he does so.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
managing to get a crit... but not much damage, Mic looks around. "Is this all?"

There wasn't really a surprise round since Mogmurch initiated combat, but you guys who made successful stealth checks get to hit her flat-footed, let's say.
Maggie realizes that goblins are just as bad as the stories have always said, and quickly drinks a potion from her belt, causing a field of protective force to emanate from her body. She moves back away from Mogmurch, but hasn't noticed the other Licktoads yet. That quickly changes as they start to attack her as well. Darts and rocks penetrate her shield and injure her, though only mildly. "Ow that hurts! Stop! I'm warning you, I can make fireballs fly from my fingertips!" she cries out (in Varisian, so only Mogmurch actually understands her). The threat is slightly less effective since her clothing is still on fire from the fire paste that spilled over her from the gourd.
Actions:
Surprise round: Mogmurch throws fire gourd.
1st Round: Maggie drinks something that protects her.
Goog waits before doing anything.
Chuffy throws a dart and gets a good hit in.
Mogmurch throws a rock.
Poog sneaks around behind the wagon.
Mic throws a dart as well, hitting her somewhere painful.
Greta waits to see what happens.
The fire paste is really hurting Maggie badly. She tries to run around to the other side of the wagon, only to bump directly into Poog!
The donkey is scared and tries to escape from his harness, and manages to get out! He tries to kick at the nearest goblin. Goog avoids the hooves easily.

The burned and bleeding half-elf goes down under the stabbings and thrown rocks of the goblins. Now you have just her donkey to deal with -- do you kill it as well?
GM Paladin |
Chuffy finds four glass vials of yellow liquid (acid), three glass vials of a dark brown liquid (alchemist's fire), two wooden sticks coated in some kind of greasy film (smokesticks), a bag with squishy stuff inside (tanglefoot bag), a dagger, a bag with torn bits of paper inside, another bag with yummy-smelling candies, a book with writing and also pictures, the colorful, multi-pointed cap she's wearing on her head, a wooden flute, and the clothing she's wearing (counts as padded armor). He also notices that she's not quite dead yet.
Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
While the other goblins had been dealing with both the woman and her small horse, Goog had found something very interesting inside his nose, and has been inspecting it for almost a full minute. When he looks up, he sees the woman and horse dead, and fun stuff to loot. "Oh. Goog get stuff! Good job, stupids!"
Sorry, it's been a pretty hectic weekend with a toddler's birthday party yesterday and family visiting the whole weekend. Good to see the rest of you had it well in-hand. :)
Mic Chuffy |
Mic will walk over to chuffy as he sees him trying to burn a book. "Let me see that." he says, pulling it out of his hands. "Oooooo, pictures." he says, holding the book upside down.
GM Paladin |
I'm willing to call it on the donkey. With a -3 to attack, it's very unlikely to actually get a hit on anyone, especially when you can stay away from it and pelt it with rocks and darts.
Do you search the wagon as well?
