Right, good point, I know that, I'm not sure why I messed that up. Poog and Goog can just heal themselves, or Goog can do what he did anyway.

Goog pops the hot stone into his mouth, but before he can manage a word, is in such pain that he has to spit it back out again. He sits down, shamefaced.

Greta and Mogmurch get growls from Loptop, who hands over their badges reluctantly.

Hurtful Words badge: The user of this Licktoad badge can call forth a stream of blistering invectives against a single creature with an Intelligence score of 3 or higher within 30 feet. This allows the user to attempt an Intimidate check to demoralize that creature with a +5 circumstance bonus on the roll. If the user’s check exceeds the target DC by 5 or more, her target is staggered for 1 round instead of shaken. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Poog puts the hot stone in his mouth, and after all the other punishment he has sustained today, perhaps he is numb to it. It doesn't seem to burn him much. He even has some clever-or at least he thinks them fairly clever-quips at the tip of his burning tongue, but he can't quite make the goblins laugh.

Finally, after mumbling some interesting insights, he says to Chuffy"Ugh what is that all over your face? Oh... that just your face."

On Chuffy, that's not so much an insult as it is just an accurate observation.

Loptop points and laughs at Chuffy and hands over a badge to Poog.

Please record your badges and what they do on your profile for easy reference.

Loptop leads the whelps to the next challenge, at a particularly gooey, icky, sticky patch of mud.

"Licktoad goblins have big teeth! But also have nimble teeth! Can grab with teeth even if hands full! So you show here you can use teeth and tongue to grab worm! Squirmtongue challenge! You take mouthful of mud, swallow it down, but not swallow worm in mud! Show us worm after you swallow mud and you win!"

For this challenge, you take a mouthful of mud, then you need to succeed at a DC 12 perception check to find a worm within. Once a goblin finds a worm, he can avoid swallowing it with a successful DC 14 Reflex save. A whelp can swallow three mouthfuls of mud before he is too full and sick to try again.

"Hah! You all got badges for something! Good, good, maybe you not useless whelps after all."

Loptop hands out the final badges to all the whelps except Poog.

Squirmtongue Badge: The user of this Licktoad badge can reroll a single saving throw he just failed, but he immediately falls prone.

Please keep track of which badges you have and what they do. You'll find them useful in this game because, if you haven't noticed, you're very squishy.

"Alright! You free of whelping cages, you can sleep in village tonight! BUT! You not Licktoads yet! Licktoads gotta have a toad! Tomorrow you go to Tadpole Bog and get a toad of you very own! Then you take it to Cave of Darkfear and present toad to the spirits of Darkfear."

As you watch, Kettlehead and his lackeys head out, having passed their badge challenges yesterday, and being favored by Chief Gutwad, they even have some armor and weapons. You're not so lucky -- you'll have to make do with the filthy rags, rocks, and sticks you were given in the whelping cages, unless you can find something else in the village to use.

If you want to search around, clubs and quarterstaves are easy to find.

Perception DC 12:
What's this? Under a wobbly table leg, a wooden case is being used to prop it up. Inside are seven darts, and the lid of the case has a neat strap that would let someone use it as a shield. Anyone else going to take the other darts?

The whelps get to rest and recover from the challenges. After you're thoroughly rested (Poog and Goog may re-prepare spells), Loptop gathers you together at the edge of the village.

“You maybe think you be tough because you got out of your baby cage, whelps? Psht! You no be goblins. The only real goblins are Licktoads, and a Licktoad without a toad is just... lick. So. If you want be Licktoads, you need to catch a toad at Tadpole Bog and also not die. Then you take the toad to Cave of Darkfear and also not die. Then you show your toad to the Darkfear spirit, and maybe if you really are a goblin, then you also not die. Get toad. Show spirit. Kill anything that wants to stop you. Don’t die.

“That last part is very important.”

Loptop draws a crude map in the dirt, showing the locations of the Tadpole bog, the village, and the cave of Darkfear, which form a roughly equilateral triangle. Then she shoos you on your way.

Loptop throws a big wad of mud at Mic, but it hits the ground next to him. "Get toads if you want to be Licktoads, you big dumb baby!" she screams at him, grabbing another handful of mud and this time hitting him in the face with it.

Fast-forwarding here, I will assume everyone goes to the bog and travels together.

The occasional lazy bubble breaks the surface of this shallow, stinky pond, and a haze of insects clouds the air in every direction. Only the occasional gurp-chirp of toad-song breaks through the drone of bugs. The water is only a foot deep, and the layer of peat underneath is soft and mushy, but supports your weight well enough.

Catching a toad requires a DC 15 combat maneuver check. If you want to use other tactics, like sneaking up, making toad calls, climbing to higher ground, or other things, make an appropriate skill check and I'll tell you whether you get a bonus to your CMB roll.

Copper Gate | Skittershot | We Be 5uper Goblins!

Hmm, yes, I suppose initiative would be called for!

Goog moves forward, casting a spell to produce flames that wash over the three goblins. Only Rempty is able to duck partly out of the way.

Kettlehead angrily steps forward, and slashes with his dogslicer at Goog in retaliation, but just barely misses.

Greta gets ready for trouble. Culgick and Rempty fire their bows at Chuffy and Poog, respectively. Chuffy is hit! 2 damage to Chuffy.

Poog then steps up and sends another wave of flame at them, this time only hitting Kettlehead and Rempty, both of whom take the flames fully in the face. Kettlehead collapses to the ground, sizzling.

Culgick gulps and says, "I no like them anyway! You gobs strong! You best new goblins in tribe!"

Rempty agrees, coughing and groaning in pain from his burns. "No more fight! You win!"

Welp, that kinda resolves that already! Chuffy, Mic, and Mog can take other actions if they don't want to accept Culgick and Rempty's surrender.

Init order:
Goog: Moves forward and casts Burning Hands
Kettlehead (red)
Greta: readies her weapon and shield
Culgick (blue)
Rempty (aqua)
Poog
Chuffy
Mic
Mogmurch

"And NEVER say we not real goblins again!!!"
