GA! I made the mistake of touching the map on my phone. It may need to be re aligned.
No worries, happens to me quite a bit...I fixed it earlier this morning. If anyone accidentally moves the map, you can hit the undo button and it should move it back...not sure if you can do that on mobile or nor though...

![]() |

No worries...
Enjoying everyone's posts...each of you are good at bringing your character's personalities into the story...

So in PFS, we can use any items we find for free, and then at the end we might be able to buy them? How does that work? I've never played PFS before and am confused by the loot part.

![]() |

Good question Lovissa. You can use anything you find during the course of the adventure...but at the end, it becomes the property of the Pathfinder Society...however items you find can be purchased, if you have the gold. These items will be listed on your Chronicle...you can always buy the items on any of your Chronicles if you can afford it...
You can also always buy common items...and in the PFS guide, there's a chart showing you what kind of magic/special items you can buy based on the number of fame you've accrued and the cost of the item even if it's not listed on one of your Chronicles...
That's basically it, but I'm sure someone can probably explain it better than I...

![]() |

And how do the chronicles work in pbp? I know in person they're physical papers, but what about on here?

![]() |

When you complete The Confirmation, I will write up your Chronicle and make it available to you. It'll be a PDF file which you can store online and/or print out...it'll contain the items you found (and can buy), the prestige points, fame, and experience points you've earned, as well as the gold. Most scenarios will also grant you boons as well. You can apply it to your character sheet, online or on paper or both...
Since we'll be doing a trilogy of scenarios, you'll get a Chronicle after each one. We'll take a short break in between so you can use the gold you've earned to make purchases and upgrades...
Printing out your character sheets and chronicle sheets will allow you to also play your character in face-to-face games if you get the chance...

Cool! Thanks for clarifying.

![]() |

Cloak of resistance is a sweet find. Someone should use it.

![]() |

I agree, wouldn't let it go to waste as it'll be good for the rest of this scenario...

![]() |

As far as Lovissa's concerned, Todd found it and Cerryl identified it, so unless both of them pass on it she wouldn't think to use it.

Well Cerryl will wear it until someone else presents an argument for it and to be fair think my saves are the weakest but hoping to not be in a position to be the target of saves.

![]() |

Just curious since I have not read up on the lore too much for Pathfinder wondering how the Society is viewed in general by the majority of the world.

![]() |

I'd say they're viewed favorably by most...
In my last in game post, I had a couple of checks, a Perception and a Sense Motive...just wanted to make sure everyone knows they weren't just for Cerryl, all of you can make the checks if you wish...
ETA: And just as I post that, Rykaar nails both checks...

GM Otha, just making sure you know: Grey does not have the scent ability, only a racial bonus to perception :( I love what you are doing and the flavor, just want to make sure.

![]() |

Thanks for the clarity on the checks. Still figuring out the convention.

No worries, that was no special check...I deemed you closest to that tunnel and added the wolf scent more for flavor than anything...
As for the checks, that was my bad, I should've made it more clear...if you see a spoiler check, and I don't specify, anyone is free to make the check...

If it's alright with you, GM Otha, I'd like to change the answer for Todd to normal xp gain instead of slow. I've been thinking about how annoying it's going to be playing a lower level UnRogue who doesn't get their Dex to damage yet and I'm not sure I want play that for twice the amount of games as usual.

![]() |

That's fine by me Todd, no worries...
I'm assuming normal progression wouldn't bring him to second level after this scenario...the second one we're playing (Masters of the Fallen Fortress) can only be played by first level characters. The third one we'll be doing (The Consortium Compact) is playable for 2nd level characters (as long as the player has never played it before with a different 2nd level character)...
On another note, The Consortium Compact should be interesting with Todd...just a little spoiler, as that scenario deals with the Aspis Consortium...

Nah. Todd is Super Fresh. No xp or anything.
And so it should be! Never played the Consortium Compact, so playing it with a character who has an Aspis boon is exciting.

![]() |

Agh! Sorry, Rykaar, forgot to roll twice for your initiative...I'll try to remember next time...

![]() |

The way I understand it Grey is fine since he won't hit level 2 until after the 2nd scenario and the 3rd is playable by level 2 characters
Cerryl, DM Livgin is talking about a possible rebuild...up until you actually play as a second level character, you can change your character in any way as long as you stay PFS legal...stats, race, class, anything...
While I've seen a few complete rebuilds, most just tweak here and there to better optimize their character...once you play a second level character, you're locked in as DM Livgin said...

![]() |

Probably depends on which Knowledge check. From what I've seen, Knowledge (Local) is the most used Knowledge check...I've also seen a fair amount of Knowledge (Religion) and Knowledge (History)...I'd say most are hit and miss, kinda like Appraise. DM Livgin probably has more insight to that than I...

![]() |

Whew, that was close! Sorry guys, that was a bad round for y'all and just one more attack point from being very bad for Lovissa...glad y'all got Janira's wand of cure light wounds...

![]() |

Question still learning the combat dynamics can Lovissa make an attack and then do a five step move to the back right diagonal and dont want her to have any AoOs but want to cast burning hands and think that is the only spot where she would be out of the cast. Assuming burning hands goes more than 5 foot cone right.
Nevermind 15 foot cone

![]() |

Just for future reference, a 5' move is always a free action and does not attract an AoO...

![]() |

Cerryl, you asked in your post for her to step back and I would assume Lovissa would have no issue with moving 5' SW since she would draw no AoO and does not prevent her from attacking normally next round...it'll also likely save her from taking two more attacks this round...go ahead and make your attack and I'll move her accordingly...

![]() |

Sorry, Todd. I couldn't see a way to make flanking easier for you.
GM Otha, I made my first attack and saw if it rolled high before deciding if I would continue the full attack or use the trickery blessing as a move action. Figured I'd over-communicate, seems appropriate for this medium.

![]() |

The dice are fickle tonight. I'm seeing a lot of 1s.

![]() |

Yeah, y'all are hitting 'em just the damage die are not y'all's friend...
But Grey dropped his, and one is hangin' on by a thread...and Cerryl, I judge you did not miscalculate...Lovissa would've been hard pressed to take two more attacks which she might've had to do without your move...but with two more people to act before the zombies, likely at least one will be dropped before they strike, perhaps both...

![]() |

yeah and just wondering there was no way for Todd to get a flank attack before Lovissa withdrew right pretty sure he would have to go through an AoO to get far enough.

![]() |

Yeah, for a flank there'd be no way around an AoO...well, except for an Acrobatics check as zombies have fairly low CMDs and Todd has good DEX mods...but their AC is pretty low as well so they're pretty easy to hit, just have a lot of hp considering...

Check out the spell cone shapes in the prd. About half way down are the spell shapes.

So Rykaar is my xxx-1 PFS character, and I have not used the Boon from the PFS Society Welcome package. How do I use this? Do I need the GM to approve it? How is that done?
Do I get the boon at the start of the adventure, or at the end?

![]() |

Thanks Grey still learning some of these things since most of my experience has been the computer games which are a little limiting in certain aspects.

You will get the -1 boon at the end of The Confirmation...I should be able to get it to you at the same time I get you your Chronicle...it's a good boon, as it gives you some good options for healing/avoiding a killing blow...

So I know the turn order grouping is explained/justified by the fact that the same results can be achieved by delaying.
But looking at the map now, I see that if Grey five foot stepped after his full attack, he could then five feet step next turn to full attack.
Is that cool because the enemy has not gone yet, so I can still do stuff on my turn. Or is there an established statute of limitations on that kind of thing?
