The man comes around, and cowers thinking another round of beatings is coming his way. When that doesnt happen.
"Yo-you're not a troglodyte!" he cries out in shock. Then, "Oh, please, free me - I've been held prisoner here for so long I can barely remember what I was doing prior - please, please, let me go!"
When he sees you more clearly, with blood and gore all over you, he suddenly bursts into tears.
"Oh thank goodness. You must be the party sent to save me. My name is Balenar Forsend."
He tries to stand up but is very weak.
"I stumbled on this place and was going to explore when they jumped me and knocked me out. Their leader is a mean one! I don't remember much to be honest. Got blindsided but the one that did it was big, just saw him before i blacked out." he says.

The odd little dwarf seems almost disappointed. "Glad you're alive. I didn't look forward to dragging your corpse all the way back to the lodge." After his story, Rumple asks, "Is he one of these here?"

GM Nowruz |

He looks at the corpses slightly disgusted and shakes his head.
"Their leader is not among these men. I came here and thought to find out what's here and such for recording purposes, but those foul creatures had beaten me here. They captured me and they wouldn't let me go."
The man shudders. "They wanted to sacrifice me to their god, Zevgavizeb."
He holds his manacled arms out and begs, "The big one outside the door had the key - please, free me. I can - I can probably help you and I need to get back to the Society. I'm usually assigned to the Grand Lodge of the Pathfinder Society. But yes, I can, I can help. I've been told I'm quite inspiring and, uh, helpful."
The man's eyes are a bit wide with desperation. He's still holding his arms out.
You can see that he might be considered attractive were it not for the bruises and the way they've further affected his starved state.

She will give him some of her rations. You will need your strength she says.

![]() |

Did we find a key?

![]() |

Llovra takes pity on the man,Ruso, can you pick the lock of these manacles? Llovra then lays her hands on the man's forehead, Heal this man benevolent Gods of light...I implore you! cure lt: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 (that was my last 1st lv. spell people...only healing I have left is..scroll of cure mod we just found)

GM Nowruz |

I assume you will find the key and open the manacles.
Now free, the man rubs at his arms, relieved. They're a bit raw where the manacles were. He'll wait, as told, but when the party approaches him again, he'll ask,
"Would you happen to have seen any of my gear? It was taken from me when they caught me."

![]() |

Fuzzzy shakes his head. "Nope! Only my own. There was plenty of it though. Or, I think it is. Like this way finder around my... Hmmm... This necklace doesn't look familiar. Bobby? Is this mine?"

![]() |

"It's not?" Fuzzzy exclaims. Then he hands Balenor the wayfinder.
After a moment, Fuzzzy looks around the cell. Then he tells Balenor, "Excuse me, young man, but you really ought to clean your bedroom more. And maybe get dressed. It's quite dirty in here!"

![]() |

The odd little dwarf tugs at Balenor's arm and whispers quietly "Pay him no mind, his brain's a bit addled. But he's great to have along in a fight. Tough old fart... he's not really old either.... oh, never mind. Yes, we found some stuff that might be yours." He relates what they found.
As an afterthought, he throws in, "oh, by the way. In case you have any kind of healing capabilities... please don't use them on me.. I have a condition. Sweet Llorva knows what to do."

![]() |

“You’re right Rumple. Corpses can be so heavy and awkward. Stumbled on this place, hey Balenar? Surprised you’re alive.”
Ruslo begins scratching his back with his hook.
“Yup. Got your armour here for you.” Ruslo takes off the nice armour and returns it to Balenar.
Ruslo offers Balenar a handshake. “I’m Ruslo. Good to meet you.
Ruslo then puts on his old armour.
“So this leader of theirs. Anything else you can tells us about him?”

![]() |

"Sure, sure. We're going to keep you safe." soothes the odd little dwarf. "You are walking back to the lodge on your own two feet. But first we're gonna take care of this monster who beat you like this."
So I assume Llorva did NOT waste a cure light wounds. Right? Because the dude only had non-lethal damage?

![]() |

She hands him back his rapier You may need this to defend yourself she says

![]() |

She gives a coy smile back to him.

![]() |

Lead away she states

![]() |

She nods

Fuzzzy follows the others. Then he whispers something to his owl very quietly.
"Bobby? Who are these people? What's going on? Where am I going?"

![]() |

"A mission? Really? How exciting!"
Fuzzzy smiles and he follows the others very quietly.

heal check: 1d20 ⇒ 15 Even though Llovra hasn't studied healing much..she can tell that the 1/2 elf is just winded and not seriously wounded..therefore she stops herself mid-spell and reserves her last spell of any-power, for an emergency. She keeps the scroll of cure mod as she instructed to do. She doesn't say much as the party climbs the stairs. She takes up the rear(just in front of 1/2 elf) with her bow drawn . stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

You arrive at the upper level.
The four wings of the tower are completely open on this level, forming one great, cross-shaped chamber with arched ceilings. The decayed remnants of a carpet run from the doorways at the end of each wing, meeting in the center, where a spiral staircase drops out of sight below. A large, throne-like chair stands in the middle of the eastern wing next to a big chest.
The ceiling is 20 feet high in this room; it is dimly lit by the daylight shining through the archways.

![]() |

Fuzzzy sees the crocodile and the troglodyte. He looks at them. Then he looks at Bobby. Then he and turns and goes back down the stairs. He whispers to Bobby.
"I think that thing wants to eat us."
Fuzzzy is worried that Bobby will get eaten by a crocodile, so he is going to the back of the line.

"You're not eating me!"
Ruslo stalks forward and attacks the crocodile.
