Looks like we don't have much actual cash. Maybe we could barter for stuff however. Seventeen has 15g so never mind magical research. Some day she'll have to ask for the money she lent back ;)
Seventeen spends some time taking a proper inventory of the party loot, and pulls out a handful of wands, She examines each of them carefully, "There are several wands here there I should start using, this one summons a great lethargy in foes, this one scorches them and this one makes the ground incredibly slippery. Oh and there's this one here from the fight with Marrow. I can't tell what it's for. Omo any idea?" She has the wand to Omo for inspection.
Spellcraft DC?: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 Oh geez thanks dice roller.
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Yeah, fixing the Scrapbot can take actual GP OR just Scrap with a GP value, you can trade some stuff for Scrap(GP).
Seven.teen |
Seventeen asks Redtooth, "Do you know if anyone has any magical scrolls for trade?"
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Thank you Redtooth your contribution will not be forgotten. "
I missed it somewhere how much was the needed upgrade price
Jarreck Lightfoot |
Jarreck go over to their stash pulling out a smaller bag containing stones.
appraise fire opals: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
appraise large garnets: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
And the gold bars
appraise gold bars: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
seriously?
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Jarreck figures the Fire Opals are worth about 75GP each, and the Garnets are worth about 200GP. He could probably trade them for half that much, since coin and gems aren't that useful here in Scrapwall.
Where the heck did you get gold bars?! I really have no idea what those are worth since I don't remember giving them to you.
Redtooth frowns Well, that evil b&&%& Marrow used to make magical items....and I guess Dinvaya can make scrolls. But other than that...I'll send my Litter-Mates out to see.
Only a 25%chance of 1st level, 20%2nd level, 15%3rd level and so on... You can roll here. CRB spells only....what are you looking for?
Guaire |
Niles handing out gold bars.
Page 54.
Guaire joins Jarreck, as he goes over the valuable gems, trying to remember market values, shouted by merchants, from back in the city.
Assist appraise opals: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Assist appraise garnets: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Assist appraise gold bars: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Oooooo. Right those aren't in the AP and a good GM would have written down their value....I don't think Appraise is one of those skills you can "assist" with, because then its just an argument. "It's worth x" "No, its worth X+10"
The Gold Bars are worth 100GP each, half that in trade.
Guaire thinks the Opals are worth closer to 100GP not 75GP.
Jarreck Lightfoot |
Jarreck shakes the gems in his hand a moment longer before placing them back in the pouch they came from. Standing he looks for Omo. "Omo, what items do you need to finish the initial work on the robot?"
Will assume that is question is answered
Looking for Redtooth he will ask her if she has the needed items or if he will need to make the trip to visit Dinvaya for the missing parts.
Niles what class is Redtooth, if one applies?
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Rogue and Whiskifiss is Ranger. Also what "missing parts" are you looking for? The "parts" are very vague in nature and we can assume that anyone who sells "scrap" has access to wires/cogs/etc needed to fix the robot and upgrade its HD
Jarreck Lightfoot |
Figured the 'parts' part of it would be kinda vague hence the reason I didn't wait on Omo to reply. Although I'm quite sure he could have given me an interesting list if needed. You answered my questions though.
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Redtooth, Omo has need of certain parts to finish up his robot. I understand that you might have access to those parts needed. Would you entertain the trade of this light mace, for his parts and 5 batteries.
The mace has a switch here on the side that will cause your opponent's mind to be temporarily affected. And as a bonus I would like to leave this laser rifle here as a trophy for your warren. It came from the front door of Marrow's compound where they were holding Whiskifiss."
Niles was the price listed for the garnets for all 3 together or each. both the gold bars and opals you specified each
Omo Nijj |
"These are just the cogs and whirly-gigs I was looking for! You even found a gyroscope. Jarreck, you are so clever at the trading."
Omo happily and thankfully gets back to work.
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Each. And Redtooth is very much happy with trading with you. I'll adjust the HD/Stats of the robot as soon as I'm at the hotel. Posting from drill right now.....Paizo isn't blocked anymore but my google account is. Question, what do you want to do with the second hardpoint? You can attach a new weapon or add a different device (The Proximity helmet would be nice) Also, I'll move us forward when I get to the hotel. We only have a little bit left until we finish book 2. (Depending on how much extra adventuring you guys want to do....)
Seven.teen |
I'm in no particular hurry. If there's a fun side quest, bring it on!
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Honestly book 3 looks like it wont take long at all...since I tend to shorten dungeon crawls dramatically. Spoiler alert, Book 3 is basically a long dungeon crawl. Book 4 is a lot like this one (My favorite design actually) Book 5-6 are interchangeable and take place either in a city or in a megadungeon depending on character actions. (You can skip book 5 entirely which we may do....)
Jarreck Lightfoot |
BTW the first 157 rows on the the loot log tab of the loot tracker sheet are hidden, if need to you should be able to expand and see what is hidden. let me know if not and I'll adjust was just getting tedious to scroll all the way down to what was recent.
[edit] other options for hard point if looking martially:
+1 great club - no charge usage - never empty
grenade launcher as previously mentioned, guessing this would be good for about 3 fights do to the reload issue - niles would the robot be able to reload or would that require a move action from one of the PC's
MWK Longsword - no charge usage - never empty, not quite as good as the great club
Mindburner - not sure this would be viable for the robot,
inferno pistol - not sure this would be viable due to canister issues.
Omo Nijj |
May I save the Hard Point, and install something later? If I install the proximity helmet does it still drain charges or does it run on the robot's power supply? I think I will put its ability increase for having 4 HD into Strength.
GM Niles Iron Gods |
I've updated the stats of the Scrapbot, he gained 1HD which gives it 5 more HP, +1BaB, +1Skill point (I put it in Perception), I also adjusted the Str up to 18 which makes him a much better bruiser.
RE: Hardpoint Yes you can wait, and it doesn't have to be a weapon, it can be ANY tech item and we can figure out how it changes the bot or what abilities it adds. Example:the Prox helmet I would just give the bot tremorsense and not worry about charges or the Skillslot would just give it a "Class Skill" and free ranks in it. Things to remember about the Bot, its still has the staggered SQ, and its still vulnerable to critical hits and has the fall to pieces SQ. You can remove all those but it takes time and "Scrap".
Omo and Jarreck spend the next four days tinkering with the scrapbot and finally get it moving again (Omo you can make a cool RP post about that if you like).
Mort spends some time with the rats of Scrapwall checking things out and gets a little information about the Lords of Rust's Scrapmasters Arena.
Seven copies some spells and hangs out.
Guaire and Sonic play catch with a metal frisbee.
Sometime during the third day...
Whiskifiss barges into the area where the PC's are staying Come quick! Theres a warband approaching!!!!!! the overexcitable ratfolk squeals and then he tears off to rouse the rust monster and his gaggle of giant rats.
If the party deigns to investigate
The entrance to Redtooth's Warren is surrounded by about two dozen Orcs all banging their weapons and shields together, and shouting Send out the Bird Slayers! Send out the Harrowers of Marrow!
Omo Nijj |
I'll definitely write up a post about upgrading Mr. Robot tomorrow. I think tremor sense is really useful so I will add the helm. How much does it cost to remove the bad qualities? Staggered is no good.
Omo reacts quit fiercely to the news of the approaching war band. "The warren must be protected!"
He runs to the entrance, bringing Mr. Robot with him. On the way he drinks his cognaten and a Shield extract.
He shouts to the warband. "Who comes to Redtooth's Warren? Be you friend or foe? If you are foe be warned. I will scourge you with fire and lightning. My sister send creatures from the great beyond to feast upon your flesh. My friends will wrack you with shafts of arrow and biting curses. Be warned! I ask again are you friend or foe?"
There are few things that could inspire a greater fury in the folk than threats to their warrens. Omo was no exception -- though he was normally cautious -- he would burn the hearts from any who threatened his family or his home.
Seven.teen |
Seventeen looks up from the book she'd been reading and glances at the others, "Perhaps we should find out what they want. No doubt they wish to prove their scrapworth against us or some equally ridiculous notion."
She selects one of the new wands and remarks, "Maybe a field test of Omo's new mechanical pet is in order?"
1. Enlarge Person, Mage Armor, Shield, Vanish
2. Create Pit, Sound Burst
3. Haste
Mortimer 'Mort' Burrwaddle |
When Whiskifiss comes barging in, Mort looks up and shrugs. "Let's see what they've got to say. Can't be all too good right?"
Mort changes to a Raven Form and flies out before the others to look what they're up against, then flies back to perch on Jarreck's shoulder.
I think I lose my armour and shield bonus, but gain +2 Dex bonus and 1 NA to AC, losing 2 AC total. I'm not sure if I gain another bonus due to being smaller in size though.
lvl 1 spells: Obscuring Mist, Ray of Sickening x2, Snowball
lvl 2 spells: Frost Fall x2, Blindness x2
lvl 3 spells: Poison x2, Deeper Darkness
Seven.teen |
I'd assume you do, small and fine creatures are harder to hit.
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Sounds like we have company waiting for us? Shall we oblige them?" Jarreck says picking up the grenade launcher "Orcs hmmm, Omo can I have a couple of those concussion grenades and a bang grenade sir" He loads the bang first followed by the concussion grenades. Handing it to Guaire as they walk out to meet the others. "You're shot is better than mine. Any trouble aim this at the middle of the biggest group, 1st shot is a warning will stun them, the next 2 not so much will be like they've been swatted by a giant." keeping his bow in hand Jarreck moves to the entrance following Omo, impressed at the fiery nature of the alchemist. For the moment keeping quiet to see the groups response....
GM Niles Iron Gods |
The lead orc, his body resplendent with rusty improvised armor made from the same scrap that gives this place its name, steps forward. He plants a flag with this symbol in front of Redtooth's Warren
He shouts loudly, wanting as many scrappers as possible to hear him.
The Mighty Helskarg, Lord of Rust, challenges these, Slayers of Birdfood in Scrapmaster's Arena two days hence. All will know their shame if they refuse. Helskarg the mighty will feast on their bones and feed their entrails to her pet Ogres.
The big orc turns and walks away, the flag flaps listlessly in the wind. All the other orcs stop their drumming and follow suit.
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Poor fellow must not have felt like staying for supper, a shame. What do we know about this Helskarg, with whom we now have a date it appears."
Mortimer 'Mort' Burrwaddle |
The raven pecks its wings, then looks around, hops off onto the ground and transforms back when the orcs have disappeared.
"A challenge is it? Well that's nice for a change. Wasn't Helskarg someone who we should look out for, someone whom we've been warned of?"
Seven.teen |
Seventeen dismisses the challenge as, "Primitive."
Later it occurs to her that, "Two days. Does that give us enough time to demolish the receiver first?"
Kn:Geography, can we hike to the receiver and answer the challenge in two days?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Nothing in Scrapwall is more than a few hours from anything else, you guys have hiked from one end to the other in a day.
Seven.teen |
Answering her own question Seventeen states, "Yes its only a few miles. Omo shall we see what that cylex can do?"
If the others agree, Seventeen prepares to go to the receiver.
Omo Nijj |
Niles, what is the pricing on removing those negative qualities?
If the priestess of Brigh was right about anything, the she was right that whomever originally made the scrapbot had not cared for the quality of her work. Yet, Omo could only marvel at the complexity of the science behind its making.
Yes, he had seen wonders -- flying ships, talking machines, and energy generators beyond his wildest dream. However, despite these marvels, he had not made any break throughs. He felt that he understood so much of the engineering but true insight still eluded him.
Then they found Mr. Robot. Taking the machine man apart and reassembling him was the breakthrough that Omo needed. He carefully noted each design flaw he encountered, so that he could engineer his way past them. Once he was through rebuilding Mr. Robot, he knew that poor Jarreck would not have to stand in front of him to shield him from harm.
And Jarreck was so helpful in repairing Mr. Robot. Always there with an encouraging word, a helpful suggestion, and a good wrench. Working with him made the hours fly by.
GM Niles Iron Gods |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I hadn't decided on the price to remove the staggered quality...I had though decided that the bot would lose the vuln:Critical hits once it's armor was rebuilt enough and it would lose the Fall to pieces SQ once it had enough HD added to it. However feel free to take a look at the construct rules and make a suggestion, I'm very open. I'll try to make a post this evening from home....sorry
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Helskarg huh, seems Dinvaya mentioned that was the troll who ran the Scrapmaster's Arena. Definitely will be a tough fight. Redtooth, we are still new to Scrapwall, what can we expect when we return to meet this challenge? Omo, Seven just let me know when you're ready to go, my pack is ready."
Seven.teen |
Seventeen concludes, "Now is good." She walks out the door.
Jarreck Lightfoot |
"Good thing I'm packed, Guaire, Mort! Appears we're leaving!" Jarreck calls out as the young lady disappears through the door.
Mortimer 'Mort' Burrwaddle |
"Right, I'm on your tail. I'll provide air support."
Not sure how long the travelling to the arena is, but assuming I'll use Wild-Shape about an hour outside it.
Mort wild-shapes into a raven again when the group gets close to the arena, he flies about to see ahead then perches back on Jarreck's shoulder.
GM Niles Iron Gods |
Wait...I thought you guys were going to the Receiver Array? Jarreck and Mort just said you are going to the Arena. I'll wait for some kind of confirmation...
Redtooth says Helskarg is a brute of a Troll. She wields a strange weapon that sticks into you, and then she reels you in like a fish on a hook. Be careful too, she usually rides into battle in an Ogre drawn chariot!
GM Niles Iron Gods |
The denizens of Scrapwall keep far away from the Slayers of Birdfood as they make their trek to the receiver array. Mort notices a preponderance of carrion birds as they get closer...vultures, ravens et al.
As the party arrives they begin to notice the smell. The stench of offal and rotting corpses...
Then they see the bodies, dozens maybe hundreds of smallish grey humanoid bodies torn apart and scattered. Some of the bodies bear strange festishes and claw tatoos, a mark you now recognize as that of Hellion.
The map is updated.
