Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran chuckles as he catches sight of the goblin flat on its back. "It appears Bec scared the poor thing to death, wonder how good he'll be at breaking rocks in the mine. Let collect him and the rest still ambulatory and deliver them to the sheriff. I got an axe to finish..."
Turning the smith walks up the steps to the cavern area looking for the way out.

Duncan Esteros |

Duncan begins to search the room for any valuables. He comments to Morgan, "Dont forget about my throwing stars!"
Perception or Investigation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Last trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 21 A tiny gnome-crafted music box that plays a song you dimly remember from your childhood

Andrei Brightblade |

I want to take care of that creature in the crevasse before we leave. The redcloaks feared it and I don't want to leave it behind in case it causes trouble in the future.

Morgran Frostbeard |

"I haven't forgotten them Master Esteros do not fear, but Lyle's little incident had taken precedence. The axe is well on it's way to completion given two days we both shall be testing new toys." Morgran calls back over his shoulder chuckling.

GM Niles |

Duncan finds an eyepatch with a citrine embedded in it. He also finds some hidden jewelry, a cloak clasp with some red gemstones and a copper torc.
At this point the goblin wakes up
No kill Droog, Droog not fight Droog cook and clean!

Andrei Brightblade |

He's got a lovely voice for a goblin. He'd make a passable tenor if he could change his accent. Pity he'd knife us in our sleep.

GM Niles |

No! No! Droog not hold knife! Mwar not let, Mwar hits Droog. Droog is good! Droog cook and clean! the goblin piteously begs

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle walks over to Droog and looks the little goblin in the eyes. He then points eastwards.
"Calm down Droog, we only kill those who attack us. Start being useful and we will be kind and not hit. What is under the bridge over there? In the crevasse?"
Persuasion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Duncan Esteros |

Showing the others the treasure he found, he tucks it away in his belt pouch until they get back to the surface.
Looking over to the goblin he remarks, "We are not taking that thing with us are we?"

Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran slows as he reaches the top of the steps, once more looking out upon the crevasse; looking both left and right for the supposed creature that's to be there.

Andrei Brightblade |

Off to the airport soon but on seeing the creature within Melee range will empower his sword... gives it the magic property, makes it +3 to hit and sheds light 20ft and dim light to 40' then attacks. I also still have one spell slot for smiting left

GM Niles |

AH! Bad creature, one eye. Looky at you and you dies! Droog no like, show you way around. Droog cook and clean for humans! Droog cook good!
the goblin continues its servile attitude. You have noticed its scrawnier and unlike the previous goblins you have seen it wears only a thin shirt and loincloth, with no weapons or armor visible. Perhaps he was being kept by the bugbears as a pet or slave.

GM Niles |

Morgran and Duncan both don't see anything amiss in the crevasse area. Which way are you heading back?

Morgran Frostbeard |

Niles moved Morgran and Duncan to the top of the steps, where we should be at this point
It's doubtful that a small jaunt through the cellar of this mansion would have confused Duncan's city back street sense of location much less Morgran's dwarven senses. Nodding across at the bridge leading across the crevasse "That should be leading back to the first secret passage we came through, and should be the quickest route back out from here. Don't know bought the rest of you but I'm ready for a good night's sleep."
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Does Morgran notice the southern passageway? not at all....

GM Niles |

Morgran begins to cross the expanse and reaches the bridge when he hears scrabbling from inside the crevasse. Something is climbing up!
Bec is holding a torch
Bec: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Andrei: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle quickly runs over to the crevasse, and looks down into it. Quickly, he weaves a spell, and an illusion of a really tall, snarling warrior appears, waving his sword around menacingly! Flames lick around the fearsome combatant.
Casting silent image right above the '8', I put a little symbol on the map. Hoping to draw the thing's gaze towards the illusion.

GM Niles |

Round 1
Bec hustles forward with his Torch
Lyle casts a Silent Image of a firey warrior Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 unfortunately the Nothic doesn't believe the illusion exists.

GM Niles |

Edit to the above actions. Ignore the 10 damage to Lyle. It takes the Nothic's action for it to disbelieve the illusion. So it disbelieves and then moves. No damage to Lyle

Lyle Twigstep |

Whew.
Seeing that the nothic has no interest in his illusion, Lyle waves the illusion away. He tries his last spell, quickly chanting a second spell as he sweeps a hand out to the nothic.
"Hey you one-eyed bastard! That the best you got?!"
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
After casting the spell, Lyle quickly backs down the hall.
Vicious mockery, I had forgotten the damage. Must make a DC 13 wisdom save or take disadvantage on next attack roll and the above damage. Then hiding int he hallway. Heroically.

Attack-dart: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Morgran moves 5' to the east to line up a shot on the Nothic with the javelin.

Andrei charges after the nothic.
Attack 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 3 = 14 for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

GM Niles |

Err, he's at the bottom of a 30' crevasse. He has a climb speed so he's going up and down the walls

Duncan Esteros |

Duncan takes aim and fires another dart at the beast, then, not wanting to be caught in the monsterès gaze, he blends back into the surrounding darkness, hoping to hide.
Attack-dart: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

GM Niles |

Hiding is an action as is attacking so you can only do one or the other. Unless you are a rogue level 2...

Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran follows the Nothic's progress across the crevasse, before sending a prayer up calling down flame.
"Maker's flame"
cast sacred flame (DC13)
Dex Save or dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2 cover ignored.

GM Niles |

No such things as "move" actions in 5e, just actions or movement. You can use movement to do things like pick stuff up or opens doors. Action economy is simplified greatly.
Andrei Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 deftly moves down into the crevasse and engages the Nothic No attack though, only movement
Duncan hurls a dart that clatters against the rock walls of the crevasse.

Vicious Mockery: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Same deal, DC 13 wisdom or disadvantage.

Morgran Frostbeard |

Morgran moves a bit to adjust his aim and throws another javelin at the creature from pretty close to directly over top of it.
javelin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Dmg: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle simply keeps to his strategy, hurling an endless stream of insults at the nothic as he attempts to foul up its ability in combat.
"Uh.. uhh.. right! You miserable walking pustule, I've had bowel movements more dangeorus than you!"
Vicious Mockery: 1d4 ⇒ 3
DC 13 wis save or damage+disadvantage on next attack.

The Nothic is soon dispatched by the swords of Bec and Andrei.
Combat Over everyone gets 300/5=60XP
The dungeon is also complete. You can exit via the tunnel to the forest outside of town OR back the way you came via the Tressendar Manor.

Lyle Twigstep |

Lyle groans, slumping over the bridge as the horrid creature dies.
"That thing was awful! Well, it'll probably work well in song. If only I can find a rhyme for nothic. Please, let's leave."

Duncan Esteros |

"Did that thing live down here? How did the bandits not all get eaten by the thing?"
Will search the crevasse to see if the beastie had a lair of any kind.
Perception or Investigate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

GM Niles |

The creature did indeed have a small lair at the bottom of the crevasse. Inside the nest you find 106GP worth of coins and trinkets as well as a pair of curious silk slippers.
