Morgran Frostbeard
Morgran walks up behind Andrei after that comment smacking him in the back of the head. "Give me that book! Do ye think I'm illiterate!? As for the gold resolve that as ye wish."
Morgran will take a moment to peruse the book, understanding it would probably be after they got back to town before he could study it. Shoving it in his pouch he then follows the others to investigate the last room before leaving.
Granted Andrei he had to stand on his tip toes to do so :-)
**edit current XP totals are 1465**
Lyle Twigstep
Okay my understanding is that to use a spell scroll you need to have that spell on your spell list, which was shockingly difficult to find.
"I can use that scroll with the charming spell."
Lyle looks over the equipment.
Arcana: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"Looks like he was brewing invisibility potions, I wonder what he had in mind... and as for that staff, we bring it with us and figure out what it does before we decide if we can or should use it. The fireball scroll - uh, no idea what to do with that."
Lyle moves up behind Duncan, wearily waiting for another fight.
GM Niles
Duncan hears the sounds of tables and chairs being scraped against the floor. Someone inside the room is aware of the party.
Duncan Esteros
Duncan motions the other to come close and then whispers.
"There is something behind this door. Be ready and I will open it...perhaps we can take them by surprise!"
Once everyone is prepared, Duncan opens the door.
Morgran Frostbeard
Morgran nods readiness as he stands shield ready and handaxe held in hand, testing the balance. Offhandedly he mentions ... "The journal is about the mine and noticed something called a forge of spells and Lightbringer. Will tell you more once I've actually read though it."
GM Niles

Surprised by the thugs, Duncan lashes out with his sword, then swiftly moves away from the attackers before they can react.
Using 1 ki to disengage as bonus action after attack, moving to location noted by arrow on map
Attack-sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Morgran Frostbeard
Maybe too late now but if you grab the map and shift it un expectedly you can hit the undo arrow at the top arching to the left. Unfortunately I have experience at that.
Morgran Frostbeard
Morgran will cast Bless upon Duncan, Andrei, and Bec who all feel lighter of foot and unable to miss.. 1d4 to attack or save next 10 rounds
@Andrei, like how you put him in the corner as punishment for messing up the map ;)
Andrei Brightblade
Andrei will move up to cover Duncan's escape and to set up an attack point for redcloaks attempting to enter.
Lyle Twigstep
Scampering behind all the heroes, Lyle points at the brigand in the doorway.
"Hey Yellow tails! How 'bout ya run while you have the chance?!"
Casting vicious mockery on blue, wisdom DC 13 or disadvantage on next attack roll.

Andrei makes an attack of opportunity against the blue as a reaction.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 + 1d4 ⇒ 1 for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
He then attacks the one that one that Duncan hit before going down.

Morgran Frostbeard
Morgran moves closer to Duncan so he can help the fallen monk. (Spot to the side of Bec)
cure wound: 1d8 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 = 9
Niles if Bec is leaving before the end of this fight I'd like to change bless to include Morgran.
@Duncan it says attack roll or saves, isn't this a death 'save'? Of course Niles has final say
GM Niles
Bec is there, I'll bot him through this dungeon. @Duncan I'm not sure of the rules but I'll say that yes you can use the Bless on the death saving throw
Reactions:
Duncan pops Blue for 4
Andrei misses
Bec attacks Red 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 hitting for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Duncan You can post an action since Morgran will be healing you this turn
Waiting on Lyle and Duncan

Feeling the healing power surge through his body, Duncan rises swiftly from his former prone position to lash out at the bandit before him (Yellow).

Lyle Twigstep
Seeing a very, very angry mercenary coming at him, Lyle lets out a squeak but decides to stand and fight. He whips his rapier in a fancy pattern in front of the much, much larger human before he leaps to the side, trying to draw in the mercenary's attack before lunging at his throat.
Attack and crit!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Damage: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6) + 3 = 12
GM Niles
Lyle stabs the Redbrand in the throat, he gurgles and dies.
Morgran heals Duncan for 9!
Duncan pops up and kicks the Redbrand in the junk.
The remaining Redbrand in the room lashes out at Duncan 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 but the pain in his lower abdomen keeps him from hitting!
The Redbrand outside the room moves in and attacks Andrei 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 missing.
Bec attacks the yellow Redbrand 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 hitting for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Good Guys are up once more
Lyle Twigstep
Lyle looks at the enormous man-corpse dying in front of him.
"I absolutely meant to do that," he says to himself before he scampers south, trying his luck again to stab the yellow-clad mercenary.
"Avast ye!" he says, pretty sure that's what people say when sword-fighting.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Morgran Frostbeard
Niles, moved Morgran to where he would have been last round
Stepping forward Morgran pulls his hammer and swings for the ruffian assaulting Andrei.

The hearty adventurers make short work of the remaining members of the nefarious Redbrand gang.
Lyle stabs one in the kneecap and Duncan kicks him in the face dropping him. The other is skewered by Andrei and then Morgran hits him with a Midgardian level hammer uppercut.
The Redbrands are carrying 5d10 ⇒ (7, 5, 9, 4, 2) = 27 GP worth of coinage and various odds and ends
Roll 5 times on the Trinket table, they just finished playing Dice.
Looking into the room they came from, a dice table is set up and it looks as if they left it in a hurry 40GP in coinage is spilled across the table as well as a box about 3' long. The box looks impressive, its well decorated with eagles claws as well as being locked.
Combat Over everyone gets 100XP each from the combat and 700/5=140XP for clearing out the Redbrand Menace from Phandalin.
Total +240XP
Andrei Brightblade
Well now. Its a pity that it had to come to this end. I am glad we left some alive and tied up. They can at least answer to local law instead of Pharasma.
He cleans his sword.
I think we should rest. Duncan looks a bit shaky there - he took a hard blow... then I want to see this creature in the crevasse. Sit a while.
He looks at the box curiously.
Any of the men have a key on them or that dead mage maybe? Otherwise we are going to need a locksmith.
GM Niles
Just so you guys are aware, no matter what my narration 5E assumes that the good guys can say if enemies are dead or not once they reach 0HP. So they aren't dead if you don't want them to be...
Andrei Brightblade
Its easy for Andrei to be philosophical when they are dead :). He wasn't fighting to disarm or capture. He's a soldier - when he fights its with deadly intent
Morgran Frostbeard
my trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 21Morgran inspects a tiny gnome-crafted music box before putting it in his pouch. Almost as if a little ashamed at keeping such an object he replies to no one's spoken question. "It plays a tune my mother used to sing me to sleep by"
Lyle Twigstep
TRinket: 1d100 ⇒ 90
Lyle picks up an ancient elven arrow, looking over and nodding contentedly.
"I bet there's a story in this one."
He winces as he looks over Duncan's wounds.
"I'm afraid I'm out of magic. How are we all doing?"
Duncan Esteros
"I can still tend some of your wounds, but alas I have done all I can for myself. "
Anyone who has not received healing from Duncan since we entered this ruin (which I think is everyone but me) can be treated by him.
Andrei Brightblade
A short rest should give us the healing we need but I can lay on hands if there is any healing still needed after the short rest. Also, how are we doing for XP?
Morgran Frostbeard
Morgran moves up behind Duncan laying a hand upon his shoulder and grasping his necklace with the other. "Blessings upon those who help Torag's own"
cure wound: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 not as good as I hoped, sorry. Last 1st level spell, but still have an option or two if needed later.
Morgran Frostbeard
Securing the door, Morgran tells the others he will take first watch while everyone grabs a bit of a breather before continuing on.

Song of Rest: 1d6 ⇒ 6
HD Spent: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Lyle spends the downtime working on his next piece, plucking out some soothing music as the group recovers from their battles.
Everybody heals an additional 6 hp.
GM Niles
Shrug not really, I won't be botting Bec very much longer
The party rests in the card room before going into the final area.
Bec slams open the door and a lone goblin squeaks in fright!
The room is obviously a bunkroom and it smells of unwashed bodies and rotting meat. You assume the bugbears made this room their home from the piles of fur on each crudely made bed.
The smallish goblin takes one look at Bec's rippling muscles and faints...
