Oh, hey! Long time no see. Good to have a chance to play with you again. :)
An arcane caster would certainly seem like the logical replacement, if you've got any interesting ideas for such a character. Of course, you shouldn't feel pressured to fill that niche—our main concern is that you find a concept you feel excited about playing.
Some questions you might want to start thinking about while you tinker: Is your character from Taldor, or elsewhere? Are they local? If not, what is their business in the Verduran Forest? Not many people have a reason to come to Belhaim, specifically, so they might have been just passing through.
Also, I feel obligated to inform you that this is a good chance to play a kobold, if you feel like it. That'd more than explain your character's presence in the area, though we'd need to have a chat about what that entails, exactly.

Hello!
Sorry for not responding yesterday, things picked up at work.
I was trying to think of an Arcane option but I'm not big on casters, sorry :(
So if it's okay I was thinking about a Ganzi (Valkyrie) Disciple of the Pike Cavalier if that's okay?
Hellknights of the Pike are one of the lesser Orders, and also one of the more unabashedly Good aligned ones (the other being Torrent), instead of being concerned with Law and Order they focus on hunting monsters that prey on the comm folk (seriously, the sprang up during the civil war to hunt monsters as all the soldiers were away, became unofficial Hellknights, were declared disbanded after the war but continued to operate as the Band of the Pike, and were finally sponsored by the Nail to become a lesser Order a few decades ago - from Path of the Hellknight).
Syksy's (yes I know, but it's actually pronounced Shookshoo :3) father was a Disciple of the Pike that caught a Valkyrie's eye when they both ended up on the hunt for the same beast. Pike HQ, the Tower of Ordeial in Whisperwood, received a bit of a shock when a being of pure chaos, and a valkyrie, showed up a few short years later.
Given time I can probably put togther a much more cohesive backstory but I was just wanting to put a small tidbit up.
I don't know, story wise whats all going down or what all news is out and about but I can see Syksy, Hellknight of the Pike in-training, adventuring out (or being strenuously reassigned) to Taldor, well known for epic monster fights and coming across the town.

Sounds fine to me, as long as you're ready to deal with some standoffishness from the locals. A wandering Hellknight won't be a welcome sight in town, at least at first. They don't really have the necessary cultural context to differentiate a "good" Hellknight from a "bad" one.

A fine name for a creature of entropy. ;)
Given the Order of the Pike's habit of sending their members to various monster-infested areas in the Inner Sea region, it wouldn't be at all unbelievable that they'd assign someone to the Verduran Forest. Perhaps the scandal of Syksy's birth alone was enough to warrant a posting so far from the Tower of Ordeial. There are no doubt many members of the order who would see a valkyrie as a monster to be slain, and the spawn of such as untrustworthy at best. Assigning them somewhere far away minimises the risks of training them: If they prove themselves, great. If they don't, their actions won't reflect too badly on the order back home.
Alternatively, we could say Syksy was a part of a larger team, probably a single full-fledged Hellknight leading a group of armigers. There are some things in the nearby Dragonfen that may be of interest to the order, so they might have sent a team specifically to scout the place out—if you're interested, I'll give you some more info. In this latter case, Syksy would have gotten separated from their team, and then fallen into the clutches of the kobolds. Having the other Hellknights in the picture might add some interesting drama to the adventure, and leave Syksy a little less disconnected from their surroundings.
These are just suggestions, so feel free to come up with something else. Either way, I think Syksy would probably have avoided Belhaim itself.

Yay! I'll get to work statting her up.
Here’s the full history of the Order of the Pike btw,
Nearing the end of her life and concerned about her followers’ future, the group’s leader, Irei Remsaine, petitioned the Order of the Nail to accept the monster hunters into their ranks. The Hellknights refused, but impressed with their work and skillful fighting tactics, sponsored them as a lesser order. In 4677 ar, the Order of the Pike rose as Hellknights once more. Soon after, Irei passed, and command of the order fell to her remarkably deadly daughter, Lesheir.
Among the most valiant of Hellknight orders, the Order of the Pike seeks to slay monsters that jeopardize peace and innocent lives. While they work primarily in eastern Cheliax, questing members of the order travel far. Some of the order’s largely lawful good members have even adopted stations in monster-stalked areas of the Inner Sea region, and this has given the order a prominent reputation among Absalom’s Kortos Calvary and the River Kingdom’s Fort Inevitable. Individual members might range even farther abroad, aiding regions besieged by particularly terrible or entirely unheard-of monsters. Hellknights of the Pike often take a naturalist’s approach to their monster hunting, learning much about their prey and extensively documenting their successes and failures. These reports find their way back to the Tower of Ordeial and the Library of Fangs, which contains a vast repository of monstrous lore.

Going with Order of the Hero, which is even the paired Order for the Disciples of the Pike ^w^
GM Neirikr |
The Library of Fangs is very cool. I really like the idea of Hellknights scribbling down notes between jobs, and sending them back to HQ.
The Order of the Hero is a nice fit, too!
If all that's cool with you, I'll PM you the details of your team's assignment.

Ah, just noticed I still keep Tactician. Is there any Teamwork feat anyone would like to have? :3
Let's see, some that stood out to me:
Nisany Blim |
Considering how often we have been fighting in cramped spaces I kinda like Escape Route though more damage with Ferocious Loyalty.
Vibenia Scaeva |
Escape route is probably more immediately useful. If we pick up another Teamwork feat as you level then Ferocious Loyalty would be ideal.
GM Neirikr |
We are still squeezing, right? Is my bless spell still in effect?
Not squeezing, exactly, but you do still have the -2 penalty to all attack rolls if you're Medium-sized.
It's definitely been more than two minutes since the last fight, so bless is no longer active.
GM Neirikr |
For expediency, I moved Bernard back into Jakkol's room with the others, as I assumed Vibenia called the retreat to make use of the chokepoint at the other end of the tunnel. Now multiple people can attack the rats as they file in one by one. Of course, this leaves the rest of the team open to attack, as well. Let me know if you'd rather have Bernard tank in the hallway. He's already taken quite a lot of damage.
Vibenia Scaeva |
That's exactly what my plan was.
Vibenia Scaeva |
That's good.
GM Neirikr |
Everyone still here? The downtime should be mostly over now. I'll wait for you to come up with a plan of attack before moving forward.
Vibenia Scaeva |
I'm here.
Vibenia Scaeva |
Probably not a bad idea. I haven't taken an archetype that gives up spell casting so I can use a healing wand if needed....well from 4th level on at least.
Syksy Kalma |
You can use it now, Spell Trigger items only care if you have them on your class list, not if you can actually cast them (not high enough level/Wisdom).
Vibenia Scaeva |
Very cool.
Nisany Blim |
So the screen on my laptop is mostly a black void and sometimes taunts me by working at random intervals. I am back but there is no guarantee it will last so if I do not post feel free to bot me as needed. Hopefully I will get it fixed over the weekend.
I will try to catch up after I get some sleep.
Nisany Blim |
I have a while to go so no I will post here first before I figure out what I am gonna do and I do believe I have less bombs than idicated in my header.
Neirikr I am fine with the enemies in a group initiative. Frankly ganging up on someone is a valid tactic and I have no issues with it.
GM Neirikr |
Posting stuff out of turn is also fine, especially if you know you're going to be busy in the future, but just take into account that circumstances might have changed by the time it does come to your turn. Including different actions for different scenarios might be helpful (e.g. "If they do X, I do Y, but if they do Z, I'll do Q instead"), perhaps hidden in spoilers to avoid clutter. Otherwise I'll just have to make assumptions about what you would do. Of course I'll do my best to make smart choices, but satisfaction is not guaranteed. If you're fine with that, it might help speed up gameplay as well.
Vibenia Scaeva |
That should definitely help
