I read that after work then went to bed :) But the mini novel is always welcome!
Also freaking aging magic! Woot. Time bending magic is fascinating.

Beldraim de Codice |

Just FYI: currently preparing for a hurricane here in Texas, so I may be spotty in posting this weekend.

Nisany Blim |

Stay safe Beldraim! Unless it keeps up speed and affects Oklahoma I should be good to post but that could change.

Nisany Blim |

Sorry it took so long to post and for it being a small post. This weekend was a long one and Monday ended in quite a lot of pain so I just slept. And that was spotty since the maintenance guy just came into my room while I was sleeping and then my niece threw herself off a bed which lead to a lot of screaming.

Nisany Blim |

So sorry for the delay. My youngest niece has begun to grow her teeth and likes to start her day when I am getting ready for bed in the early morning. I have not been getting enough rest. But I think I am kinda caught up. Then yesterday I learned a friend is leaving stat so I didn't mess with my computer. I will get a post up before I have to go work with some idiots on their wedding.

Sorry to see you go Kitsu.
Bel can fill in for healing a pinch as she knows CLW and can use a wand.

Lukas Neidhart |

Glad to report interest from another great player! We should be hearing from him very soon :) I told him we just lost our healer/face, but encouraged him to make whatever he wanted to play.

Túrante Poicellë |

Hello, this was my alias over in a different game with your chum Lukas here (he played an adorable alchemist named Audsley). He said you might need a replacement healer/face? Would your DM accept an occultist (reliquarian) from the occult classes? If not I could do a hunter, a paladin (hospitaler), or even just a run-of-the-mill cleric.

GM Neirikr |

Oh, that was fast! Hello and welcome. Any class is fine, as long as it's something you want to play. Some healing ability would be much appreciated, though, as advertised. Further instructions on build can be found in the first post of the discussion thread. Read both the discussion and gameplay threads if you have the time. We are only just getting started, so there isn't too much to go through yet.
The only real limits fluffwise are that A) your character is not local, and B) they have a similar deal with the baroness as the other PCs (offer assistance on commission until the sheriff returns). Creating a character who is aligned with one of the main religious factions (Abadar, Shelyn, or the Green Faith) could be an easy way into the story, especially if you're going with the reliquarian.
Please ask for clarification as needed.

Ok, first attempt: Khardir Braktan is a dwarf occultist (reliquarian). He can do a little healing now, and his healing abilities will improve markedly at level 3. He has an eclectic collection of skills, including Disable Device (so he can aid the team's trap/locks person) and a reasonable Perception score, plus as a dwarf he has darkvision and can carry a lot of gear. His armor class is so-so but if the team makes some money he can upgrade his armor pretty well to handle front-line tanking (though he'll rarely score hits).
Despite being a dwarf, he's friendly and outgoing. As a reliquarian he loves digging into old ruins and finding remnants of lost civilizations, so he's probably involved in any digging and tunneling that might be going on in Belhaim.
Please let me know if you need any changes or want me to try something different!

GM Neirikr |

Looks good to me! The concept really fits into what's going on, actually. Just now there will be a prime opportunity for him to join the party, so kudos for being so quick.
There isn't much digging going on around Belhaim these days, though Khardir might have been drawn to the region by outdated information about a now-closed quarry. Local history is definitely something worth investigating, with it being largely forgotten by the wider world. I'll throw in some additional information about your time in town when I have the time to write my next gameplay post.
(Which is soon, I promise!)

Nisany Blim |

Yay we have a healer! Who is a Dwarf, I love Dwarves :) Also I have the traps but I fully support someone trying when I fail, the evil dice roller does not like me much. Occultist's are interesting

GM Neirikr |

Go ahead and make your gameplay debut, Khardir!
Just to tie up any loose ends concerning Mia: I'll move ahead assuming that she was never really a part of the survey team, but rather joined up for protection while travelling to Belhaim. She will meet with her contact and depart for Cassomir at the earliest opportunity, and won't be around for the rest of the adventure.

GM Neirikr |

Okay, based on Lukas' explorations, I also revealed the map for the tower... or what you can see as of now, anyway. You might want to zoom in a bit, so you can actually see what's going on, and avoid moving things you don't want to move. I'm still getting the hang of running a PbP, so if you have any tips on how to deal with the grid maps, please let me know. For some reason, all the maps in this particular module are really low resolution, so I honestly don't think there is much I can do about that. Stretching them out wouldn't help much.

GM Neirikr |

Khardir shields his eyes a bit and says, "The room looks stable enough. There's a small section on the west side that someone could squeeze through. Two more former kobolds as well."
Not that this is likely to matter much, but just to be clear: "the western portion" I described refers to the place you are in right now, the part of the ground floor still left standing. There are no other entrances into that space, other than the trap door you just entered through.

GM Neirikr |

Due to the interrupted sleep do I assume I did not get to pick the spells I would have wanted to prepare? I would just have what I would have had the night before, right?'
You got enough sleep. Assume that you had time to prep whatever you need, and put them somewhere I can see. People needed to go get their things and put on armor, etc. That's plenty of time to mix a few extracts, or talk to your purse, or whatever Beldraim does. :P

Nisany Blim |

So sorry, I lost a lot of sleep yesterday with errands and my car desperately needing the breaks fixed. Horrible metal on metal grinding noises. Horrifying to drive in. But it is fixed now.
I put an * next to the formula that I selected.

GM Neirikr |

Can the centipede on the ceiling be struck from the top of the ladder before climbing down?
Nope. The centipede is not on the ceiling, precisely, but clinging to a wall five feet above Nyzaj. This is twenty feet down from the top, and blocked by the ceiling of the chamber below. To get all the way down to the floor twenty-five feet below the trap door, you have to pass through a ten feet shaft, and then fifteen feet through the room itself. You have to get at least the ten feet down to be able to see the centipede.
So yeah, I totally mixed up a wall and the ceiling. English is not my first language, okay? Though I suppose that excuse doesn't really fly when you're studying the langauge at a university level... :P
As an aside, to sate my obsessiveness, please keep purely OOC posts to the discussion thread.

GM Neirikr |

Move to "flank" the centipede (hoping he'll come down between me and Lukas) and readying a bite attack for when the centipede's within reach.
Just to be clear, the centipede is already within reach, and has no motivation to come down between Nyzaj and Lukas. Besides, Lukas is wielding a reach weapon and can't threaten the centipede from where he is now. If you want, you could have just bitten it. Would you like to have done that instead?
Sorry about all the confusion. Clearly I'm not doing a great job describing the scene. :S

Nisany Blim |

As an FYI I doubt I will post anything this weekend. I get to test my stage fright at a friends wedding since I am officiating it. I hate talking in-front of people I do not know. After that I am watching children then I am getting really drunk. Cause I am due that. So bot me if need be.

Nisany Blim |

I hurt bugs with crit rocks. No clue what the damage dice would be if I find one. Just role that for me. I have the throw anything feat and I plan to use it.

Nyzaj Bandit's Bane |

That's quite all right - I thought you'd said it was on the ceiling, but last night was the first proper night of sleep I've gotten in about a week, so I'm missing a few things lately. ;) Yes, I would like to go ahead and make the attack if I can; if it's not flanked, it's not flanked.

Nisany Blim |

I think sleepy me thought we were quickly moving forward and I was getting the roll out of the way for looking around the next room.

GM Neirikr |

@Everyone: Let me know if I'm being too assumptious about where you're going, or not giving you enough time consider your options. I'm still getting the hang of how to best pace a play-by-post campaign.
I wouldn't mind having one of them, but I'm guessing they're Medium, so if I could use them at all it'd be as a longsword with a penalty.
The daggers are indeed medium-sized. I believe they would still do the same amount of damage as a medium dagger (1d4), instead of the damage for a small longsword (1d6). So effectively a shortsword for you, I suppose. Remember that mithral weapons are automatically masterwork as well, which would offset the penalty somewhat.

GM Neirikr |

Oh, also please move yourself exactly where you think you would be on the map. You know, for no particular reason. Otherwise I will be forced to assume the worst. :P
I moved all your tokens close to where I think you would be, approaching from the west. The room with the starving prisoner is A6 on the map.

Nisany Blim |

I am perfectly fine being second in line. Everyone does pacing differently and you have done fine thus far. When in dungeons pushing matters.
But could you show the prisoner on the map?
