Hooray faster modems! My condolences on having to deal with Charter, though. I used them for a couple of years in college and it was singularly unpleasant (although that may have just been my local office).
Calcedon |
Yeah, I had bad experiences with Charter too. But now I have a friend that works for them and he's pretty far up there now, on that ole totem pole. I'm hoping he's making some positive changes.
Glad you're back on, dude.
GM Mason |
Charter strikes again! I have been assured that I am good now. I also found out that when the local electric company cut limbs off the power lines that they let them hit my shop behind my house, which they didn't tell me. Now they are saying it is my responsibility to move them. They are large and I am not sure if there is damage. Crazy!
Emilia Zorzi |
Just a courtesy heads-up:
Posting tomorrow will be slow on my end as I will be out of the house and in court.
I have been summoned to appear for jury duty selection. If I am chosen tomorrow, the estimated length of the trial is 12 weeks. That means, if chosen, my days will be spent in court for that length of time. I will only be able to post in my late evenings. Sorry for this, but jury summons are compulsory here and whatever reasons I had to be excused from it no longer apply and so I must make an appearance or else incur a huge fine etc.
I'll let you know if I am chosen to be on the jury, tomorrow afternoon my time.
Emilia Zorzi |
Good luck with move and internet service connection, Orcsson!
And after a long day in the city, I am not required to be on a jury panel (as they filled all current panels during my 4 hour wait) and I won't get summoned again for another year. Excellent.

Right, getting there!
I wanted to ask the GM on how he would rule the 'brace' feature?
Essentially, bracing says:
Brace: If you use a readied action to set a brace weapon against a charge, you deal double damage on a successful hit against a charging creature (see Combat).
Does that mean:
a)You need to ready a braced attack, which only works versus charging attackers, and if someone moves and/or 5ft's in your threatened area, you don't attack,
b)If the attack is readied, if the person who provokes it is charging, it deals double damage, or,
c)You need to spend a standard action to brace, then another standard action to ready an attack.
Basically, I'm just confused, and some clarification would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Essentially, so far I only used reach brace weapons, which, I though, made sense. Brace, and when they provoke due to movement, attack.

I would give you an AOO if you had reach, but not the extra damage unless he charged. You would lose your normal standard attack though since the readied action takes you turn. If they 5 foot, no AOO.

You all may have to click view and enlarge the map to 200%. It loaded a little differently!
GM Mason |
Yup, moving to E11. Sorry about that, I'm on the phone at the moment.
No problem!
GM Mason |
Great teamwork!! Congratulations...you have hit 2nd level! Please advance at your convenience. Post what your character gained in this thread! Thanks!

GM Mason |
Hey GM, what's your policy on leveling. Do we get our bonus HP and new abilities right away, or do we have to wait until we rest?
I've had GM's run it both way.
Great question. I probably should have let you level when you took a rest to keep from dealing with this. I was just excited for you! There is nothing worse than 1st level, especially for casters-looking at you Em! I am going to say go ahead and level up full, like a video game. Full HP like you rested.
In the future, I will attempt to level you when you rest to avoid this.
Manius 'Orcsson' Archton |
Level up stuff:
1 Level in Magus
+8 hp (5 class, +2 Con, +1 Favored Class), +2 Fort, +2 Will
Skills:
Intimidate 1
Knowledge (arcana) 1
Perception 1
Spellcraft 1
Background Skills:
Sleight of Hand 1
Profession (gambler) 1
Spellbook with all 0-level Magus spells and 5 (3 base +2 Int) 1st-level spells
Have Orcsson with no spells prepared cause he hasn't yet had to time to prepare them. I also imagine a spellbook hasn't just magically manifested in his hands.
Silvio Slate |
GM: Would you allow Silvio to pick up the Scout archetype? It doesn't get him anything now, but at 4th level it allows Sneak Attack whenever charging. I plan to pair this with Charging Hurler.

Yes! I am flexible with tweaking builds the first couple of levels. The most important thing is for you to enjoy your character!!
Garvid Krein |
I do apologise, but Garvid assumed that the person to know best about funerary rites (even when consumed by crocodiles) would be Em. He doesn't have that great of a religious education.
Emilia Zorzi |
Yes and that's why the look - Garvid has no formal/trained knowledge of what Pharasmins would do, but he said it to Silvio as though he had and thus Emilia's reaction. Her reaction had nothing to do with Garvid assuming Em had the most working knowledge re the rites being she is a priestess (because that's a given). ;)

GM if you don't mind, I'd actually like to switch Perform: Act for Perform: Keyboard and my second rank in perform Sing for Perform: Wind. He's pretty musically minded, and I want to make sure he can do what I want him to be able to do.
Also, are you allowing retraining? I've got a rank in Diplomacy that I'd like to switch since I won't need it anymore. Retraining according to the rules would cost me 100 gp and 5 days. Since I have no idea when we'll have 5 days off, it might take me a while to get it done. I'd like to trade it for a rank in Knowledge: History, since I figure he knows a few things about that.

@Calcedon Like I told Silvio, I am fine with you changing things up the first couple of levels. No need to retrain. Just switch it up. You having the character you want is most important.
@Everyone I would like for everyone to get their crunches updated including equipment. Would someone like to keep up with the loot in the discussion for the group?

Give me a bit and I should be able to get a Google spreadsheet put together to track loot if everyone's cool with that. I'll link it in here.
EDIT: Here's the spreadsheet. Everyone following that link should have permission to edit it if they like, or I can maintain it, either way. Mason, could you perhaps include the link in the campaign info? Here it is to copy and paste: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B4pZMJauKKC4pQFt4S04H5J9jF2vq-BI-W1 cbCuzG04/edit?usp=sharing

Done! I'll add the stuff from earlier.
Manius 'Orcsson' Archton |
Oh yeah, I should have that wand of cure light wounds with 4 charges from the roll thing earlier, shouldn't I? I imagine I'd just give that to Em or Cal as Manius can't use it.
Calcedon |
Adjusted the pricing we know about, and adjusted my character sheet with the changes I mentioned above.
Also, Silvio! You seen Concentrated Splash yet? It looks awesome for you. I know you don't get a lot of feats, but I thought I'd mention it.
Marial "Mouse" Redfist |
I made a change as well - I'd forgotten about the Lore skill when I originally put my character together, and it fit better than Knowledge (geography) in my head, so I switched her background skill ranks. She now has two in Lore (Old Korvosa), and two in Profession (porter).
GM Mason |
Silvio received an item as well that gave him a feat. I don't see it listed on his equipment or added to his feats.
No problem Mouse!
Silvio Slate |
Thanks for the reminder, GM. I added 'Monocle of Shadow Strike' to his gear.
Yeah, I've seen that one Cal. I've got a few feats planned for Silvio. Unfortunately, I've got to get this one first.
Calcedon |
Ah, so many good feats, and so slow they come. Getting Shadow Strike is good for any rogue though.
Unlike my normal characters, I actually have only one feat I'm seriously looking at taking for Cal. That's Magnum Opus, and everything else is still pretty up in the air. I originally made him as a character that could mix it up in melee, but that's sort of out now that he's in a group of such excellent damage dealers. I'd also considered VMC Paladin, but he's really morphed into a less lawful gent.
Cal's pretty much a ringer for Leadership, but I don't know if it's even needed with six in our group. I'd also considered Crafting Wondrous Items, but it's really not in his personality. I don't see him slaving away at making something unless it's a magical instrument that only he'd use. With a High UMD score, I will likely be partaking in a few magic shenanigans. I could make him an enchanter, which might be on the list, especially since we're going to be in the city a fair amount this AP (that's a guess, don't really know).
Oh, and I really want to get this masterpiece later.

Lingering Performance is always a nice one for bards - helps to save rounds of performance, which is never a bad thing.

Em wouldn't mind having it ... and will make use of it in healing the party. I can swap Em's re-roll for yours? To make it fair...
She got "One Free Reroll (Saving Throw)" ... Just let me know. :)
